7/13/13 ~~ Eastern Mediterranean Mouseketeers!

Greece is my dream destination! This cruise is going to be awesome and I wish I was going this summer!

My dis board name is The Electric Mayhem and my real name is Kari.

We are traveling with a party of 11 from Missouri and 2littlestiches is my sister.

In my 6th floor stateroom will be me, dh, dd(4) and dd(2).

Greetings All!

We're booked on the 7-13-2013 Med cruise. We're still considering if a 12-day cruise is going to be too long and too expensive for us. We might move over to an RCCL 7-night itinerary that would leave the same weekend, but we do love our DCL cruises. Nothing has been better - our Dream cruise in July 2011 was a close to a perfect cruise as you could get (except that it was too short). So here are our particulars:

To add your family to the Official Roll Call, please post in the thread as much of the following information as you desire:

My disboards name is 2disneydads.

We're a family of four: The 2 Disney Dads, John (who will be 55 then) and Billy (who will be 50 then - this is his 50th birthday celebration), and our two daughters, Elizabeth, who will be almost 10 then, and Francesca, who will be 8 then.

We're from West Orange, NJ, and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

We've booked second seating, but we don't have a clue about best rotations yet.

We're booked in 2094 and 2096, connecting Category 9B cabins.

We've never done Fish Extenders, but we're open to the possibility.

Should mention this would be our 6th DCL cruise (2 previous on the Magic, 2 previous on the Wonder and 1 previous on the Dream).

We'd be happy to help out organizing the group and any group activities. We'd also be interested in getting to know some other families with kids the same age to arrange some shared private shore excursions that are geared to children!

Happy planning everyone.

WHOOP WHOOP!!!!

SOOOOO glad to be joining you guys on this cruise! I can hardly wait! We had to cancel our March MR cruise due to military restrictions, so this is quite the way to make up for it!

Me-Ivey (poizenivey)
DH-Jason
DD-Kennedy (9 at sailing)
DD-Karsyn (8 at sailing)

Late seating
Room 6603

Hubby has already started the "beans and rice" speeches! Penny pinching has officially started!

We booked this morning online at 6:10ish Mountain time...had no issues and it was a smooth as could be! Even transferring the ressie from a dummy cruise!

We will not sign up for FE's right now, but will keep them in mind! I'm so ready to start planning!

Hello! Our girls are almost the same age. Our girls love to make friends on their cruises - we should plan to meet on board to introduce our kids.

Hello! I'm Nicole from Linwood, NJ (the infamous Jersey Shore, not as glamourous as it sounds) and so excited for this cruise (it will be my 7th DCL cruise). I am excited because my 27th birthday will be on July 15 of this cruise- I've always wanted to celebrate my birthday onboard a Disney cruise, and was keeping my fingers crossed that the itinerary I wanted with the rumored Greece/Turkey would fall over my birthday, and I cant believe it actually did!! I feel like its meant to be. As of now I am travelling by myself but booked for 2 adults in case a friend or relative later decides to join me. I prefer companionship and obviously splitting the cost since the single supplement is so frustrating, but when I can't find someone to join me I never let that stop me from going alone (I just recently went to Australia and New Zealand for 3 weeks in October alone, but part of a tour group that I met 38 wonderful friends out of, and know I'll make friends with our wonderful group on this cruise!).

I'm in room 2009, second seating, and want to partake in the FE. Later on I would love if we could find volunteers to design logos for magnets/tshirts, and lanyards and bracelets. We did that on my Panama Cruise last January and it was so fun to see our huge group wearing the same recognizable items!

I'm thinking of doing Disneyland Paris after the cruise for a few days, depending on the cost of airfare from Barcelona to Paris. I've been to Paris twice and other Europe twice and kick myself that I didnt make time to go to DLP before, so I hope I can swing it this trip. All depends on the international airfare cost and my job situation next year, we'll see. But either way I'm so looking forward to this cruise, I've been to Florence/Pisa/Rome before (studied abroad in Italy) and Nice/Monaco (love it there!!), but never been to Spain, Turkey, Greece, or Malta so i am so ready for amazing new adventures!

Nicole, we were on the January 2011 Panama Canal cruise also! Totally amazing cruise!! :)

Also, that is great you will be able to celebrate your birthday on the Med cruise! I turned 40 this past November, and we went on an Eastern Caribbean on the Magic for my birthday, and we were on the ship on my actual birthday! It was SOOOO much fun. I booked Palo on the night of my birthday... I couldn't think of a better place to go to dinner for my birthday.

Wow everyone -- we've got 14 Dissers and their families signed up on our first day of beginning this meet thread. We are off to a great start!:thumbsup2. I'm signing off until tomorrow....

Beth

Beth, I agree... GREAT turnout for these boards just for the first couple days after booking! Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Wow! 532 days until our cruise and we are already on page 4...I can already anticipate a lively energetic cruise!

My Dis name is Newfoundland Sailor, please add us to the Roll Call – DW(Heather), DH ( Jason), DS (Stephen -12), DS (Jonathan - 4). We are from Newfoundland, Canada (that’s the island on the Northern East Coast of Canada close to Greenland) . Main seating. Stateroom 6053. FE Absolutely!

We were on a 7 day Med cruise last year with Disney and can’t wait to go back. My youngest had just turned two and he can still remember things he saw – every tower we pass he still calls the “Leaning Tower of Pisa”. We had a fabulous time last time and saw a lot of things (both on our own and through Disney excursions). This time round we are going to be more selective in our excursions since we saw the main things last year. DH says that he is staying on the ship until we get to Athens! He counted 9 at sea days in his calculations.

Joining us again on our cruise to the Med in 2013 is my Mother & Father from Montreal, Quebec. My Dad has always wanted to see Greece – so this will be his chance!

Last year there were only 6 rooms in the FE so I think this cruise has surpassed that number….I can’t wait. We loved dropping off goodies and seeing everyone’s doors. DH laughed at me when I brought one suitcase on 5 flights just full of FE stuff – I told him not to worry ‘cause it was coming home full as well. And sure enough it came home so full that we had to pay extra for being overweight!

Look forward to reading the posts and chatting more over the next year & a half. Enjoy!:beach:

I agree Kathy, the PC cruise was so awesome. It was sad to miss Castaway Cay but the weather was PERFECT otherwise for the whole trip (including my pre and post cruise stays at WDW and Disneyland) so I really can't complain. I loved having 15 nights onboard to relax & really settle in to vacation mode like in a much different way than you can on a shorter cruise/trip. The only things that annoyed me on the PC cruise were the extreme chaos of the pin collecting, how stressful it was to get a complete set because of all the crazy people wanting multiples to sell. I really, really hope that DCL learned from that and it will be better on our cruise so I don't have to waste vacation time waiting in those insane lines. I also hope the adult to kid ratio on this cruise is better, being in summer- there were so few kids and way too many adults on the PC cruise that the adult areas were ALWAYS crowded, you had to stake a Quiet Cove pool chair out by 7:00 AM and I barely was able to get Palo reservations on board.

Palo sounds like a wonderful idea for a birthday celebration onboard. I am going on a solo Valentines cruise on the Dream in 2 weeks and booked Palo for Valentines Day to treat myself.

Good afternoon,

Well, today I had a day off and spent too much time researching airfare and hotels to get a benchmark of prices for next year.

I echo doberlady:

We are going to GREECE!!

I think I am still "shocked". Been on many DCL cruises and the Magic is like "home". Never been to the Med though. Felling a bit overwhelmed right now. So much planning to do. :goodvibes

Triple ditto everyone else .... WE ARE GOING TO GREECE! :)

I posted a couple of trip reports on the first page so enjoy!

Also, at some point we will need to come up with a slogan -- I just called it the Eastern Med Mouseketeers to get us started. Don't mind at all if the group comes up with something better. I'm also organizing an Alaska thread this summer and I was able to get Millipie to do a super logo for us. Here it is...

MidnightSunMouseketeerspreserver-1.jpg

So ... I'm hoping that there will be someone here who will volunteer to arrange getting a logo made once we all agree on a slogan -- someone can get us organized on coming up with a slogan too! There was a great one done for a Baltic cruise a few years back. In fact, maybe some of you were on that cruise?!

Our meet thread is only two days old and we are moving along at light speed. I so look forward to planning with you until we all meet on the Mickey Boat!

Beth

oh and we are

#6509 11B (God help me). No window for 12 nights. I get seasick so I don't really mind all that much. My husband could care even less so I think it will work. I have never seen an inside cabin in person. Doesn't look that bad online. Figure we will be spending so little time in the cabin with a med trip. I did want to be more mid ship though and we are all the way to the front. Will keep looking for better room #'s as time goes on. I figure in a few days there will be a lot more cabins opening up as the 3 day holds expire.

We figure what we would pay for an OV we can spend on excursions.
