I am expecting #2. There are a few pieces of baby gear that I would like to get for this baby that I either borrowed last time or wish I had but never got. Specifically a jumperoo activity center and a cradle swing. I put a request out on Facebook to see if anyone had any items they were looking to unload as I am trying to beat "yard sale season". Two different friends have both a cradle swing and a jumperoo that is what I am looking for. Both friends' stuff appears to be in great condition.

BOTH have told me to make an offer as they have no idea how much this stuff normally sells for. I have no idea what to offer. Both are very casual acquaintances and while I want to get a good deal I also don't want to underpay or hurt their feelings. I looked the items up online and have a pretty good idea of what they sell for brand new from Walmart, Amazon, Target, etc. What do you think a fair offer is? I was thinking 50-60% off retail? The one swing retails around $100, so I was going to offer $40-$45 for it. Does that seem reasonable? Any advice?

That sounds like a fair price to me.

What you could do also is look up the specific model on craigslist and see what they're going for in your area.

Sounds fair to me. You'd pay about 50% at a consigment store and the owner only gets about 50% of that.

Just an FYI, recently saw the Jumperoo at Target on clearance. I think it was only 1/2 off when I saw it, but if they still have it now it would probably be 70%. They always have their baby clearance at this time of year.

Thats funny because I keep seeing on these boards about the amazing Target baby clearance....We have 2 near me and I have been checking them every week since the beginning of the year and the most I have seen stuff reduced is 15-20% and then it is SLIM pickings.

Either your Target orders much better then mine, or you are part of a Baby Boom in your area. :rotfl2: Good luck.
