Phone contract is up. What would you get?

IPhone, Droid Razr or Droid Bionic? I have no Apple products besides an IPod so I know nothing about them but these are the 3 phones Verizon has that I looked at. Or any other suggestions?
TIA!

We "just" got DD an iphone yesterday. Are you limited to Verizon? We found sprint to offer a better plan for our needs, plus - since I like my blackberry - I did not need to buy me a new phone. (Our expiring phone contract was with Sprint - and we have 2 phones on the plan.)

Verizon only offered "Applecare" for insurance - Sprint offered "Applecare-Plus" which is slightly more expensive, but a far more comprehensive plan.

We aren't a huge "apple house" although DD does have an itouch.

And - I should add - DD is quite pleased with the phone. Her previous phone had been a Samsung Google Moment.

The battery life on the Droid Bionic is rather bad. It is also several months old, and a bit outdated already.

The Droid Razr has a much bigger screen than the iPhone, but consequently, it is not as pocket-friendly, even though it's very thin. The iPhone runs on Verizon's 3G data network, and the Razr runs on the newer 4G LTE network which is much faster. Check the network data maps on the Verizon Wireless website and see if the areas you frequent are covered by 4G.

If you choose the Razr, be aware that the Razr Maxx is going to be released soon. It's slightly thicker, but has about double the battery life.

I don't think a case is really necessary for the Razr, since the case is made of Kevlar and the screen is Gorilla glass. On the other hand, I wouldn't dream of not putting a case on an iPhone.

I have an iPhone 4, but I've been coveting the Razr. However, I'm in the middle of my 2 year contract, so I guess I'll keep what I have until I can sign a new contract and get a subsidized phone.

I'd go into the store, and play around with the phones. Tell the salesperson that you're just there to look at the phones, and aren't necessarily looking to buy yet.

None of the above. Prepaid, LOL.

As long as there are $10/month Android phones out there, I'll have prepaid. Else I'll go without because I'm not going to pay a car/house payment for a stupid phone.

Okay I will bit. Which prepaid service do have for 10.00 a month for a Android phone. I am go out buy that phone just have Android phone.

With a smartphone from Verizon, you'll need to pay for a data plan now. You didn't need one with your older phone because they didn't have any back then. But new plans require a data plan.

Another vote for an iphone. If you don't want to pay the cost of the brand new 4S, the 4 will probably suit your needs. (You could also look for a refurbished model for even less.) You'll love it. They're very user friendly and (like I keep saying!;)) in about a month you'll wonder what you ever did without one!

Would also like to know.

They are not $10, but for $25 we have a couple of Virgin Mobile prepaid Android phones with unlimited text and data (though we have just been alerted that after 2.5 G of data, they will slow the speed though it will still be unlimited)

I have 2 AT&T GoPhones. $5 for text and $5 for data. I make a phone call maybe 2-3 times every 6 months, so I don't have a calling plan.

Granted, you don't get that much for the $5, but it is $5 for each of the packages. I initially loaded up with $35 on each and that should last at least 6 months if not more for us as the data/texts given per package rolls over.

I'm on wifi at home and at work and don't walk around when I'm out with my face stuck in a cell phone screen nonstop, so I hardly use any data, use about 5mb/month so far. I can turn 3G off completely and only turn it on when I want to use it if I wanted to. My wife's data is turned off via a switch on the home screen and she can turn it on at will if she needs to do something on the phone when not at home/work.

If you are in a 4G area, I would go with a 4G phone. I think Apple made a huge mistake by not supporting 4G, and anyone who tells you otherwise has never used 4G.

I agree with this. I just upgraded last month and automatically ruled out the iphone because it didn't have 4G. There is a big difference between 4G and 3G, so if I were you, I would only look at 4G phones.
I personally bought a Galaxy Nexus which I absolutely adore. If I were going to pick from your choices, it would be the razr hands down but I would wait another week or so for the razr maxx due to the extended battery.

As far as I know, all companies require a data plan for a smart phone.

Verizon no longer has unlimited plans available to be purchased, but if you had an unlimited plan previously, you still get to keep it. I got an unlimited data plan years ago for cheap to use with my old LG Voyager (and then my Env Touch.) Since I had an unlimited pla already, I was able to get an unlimited data plan when I upgraded to my iphone 4s.

Another vote here, for the Galaxy Nexus. Not only for the 4G, but I'm not interested in being locked into Apple's ecosystem.

I will look into than. I might get one.

Thanks for all the replys. I think I'll wait on the Razr Maxx. I have to get Verizon because that's what we use for the other phones. Battery lfe is really important because we are out of the country a lot and tether for internet when it's not available for our computers. I already have unlimited data so that phone seems to be the best match!
Again, thanks. You gave me a lot of important info.

You may want to double check your plan with a customer service rep before you use the data plan in another country. Most data plans don't include international data charges. I know that as of a couple of years ago, an international data plan was around $75 a month in comparison to the $30 domestic data plan. I've never purchased a tether plan, so maybe those are different.

That Razr Maxx phone makes me drool, LOL. I keep telling myself that my iPhone isn't even a year old yet, and I really don't NEED a new phone. :lmao:
