I've been a very long time lurker, since I was dreaming of a WDW vacation while living in Maine. Since that time, my family has relocated to CA and recently were given 1-day, 1-park tickets for Christmas (we went early, the 19th) and fell so in love with Disneyland alone that we upgraded that night to SoCal Passholders.

We decided we wanted to take a quick (Sat/Sun at the hotel, Sun/Mon in the parks) trip this past weekend. I spent a lot of time searching and browsing this sight for tips.

From our wonderful room booked at a retro rate at HoJo', to watching the fireworks from the hot tub that night, to knowing where to grab a FP and seat for WOC, and knowing where to get the perfect bread bowl or cheapest lunch, I learned so much from this board. The things I read and applied to our trip brought a great mini-vacation up to a magical experience that my husband and children were thrilled with.

:lovestruc

Thank you, everyone, for taking the time to contribute here. I will try harder to do the same in the future. The things shared here truly make a difference.

(I'm sorry if this is the incorrect forum for this! I just want the board to know how much I appreciate all the work!)

So glad you and your family had a magical trip, Ingrid. :)

I agree, there are many nice and helpful people on this board with a vast amount of knowledge and insight. :thumbsup2

(why is my reply to her post before hers?)

Glad you had a great time! We were there the 19th too - if you saw a woman rushing her son (who was throwing up into a hot chocolate mug) to First Aid - that was me :rotfl:

This board is amazing, isn't it? I'm glad you had such a wonderful time! :goodvibes

What a wonderful post! I agree, if it weren't for the helpful people on this board I would still be that person frustrated with crowds and lines.
A big thanks to the DIS veterans! :thumbsup2

Isn't this board amazing??? My trip was 100% due to the tips (and coupons/passes) I received here!!! I'm so glad you had a similar experience.

Just the hotel help here is so valuable! So is the crowd maintenance techniques.

The difference I see in people really enjoying Disney Parks now is so much more than from 1989 when I saw people screaming at their kids "we brought you here now You start having fun!" We have grown so much because we have this board to help us enjoy our Disney Park vacations because we save so much money!!!

OP, what a wonderful idea!!!
Yes, let's thanks all of the DISers experts!! Your help is really invaluable, and the time and patience that you show to people asking the same questions day after day (specially with WDW fans like me :rotfl:) is really amazing. Without the ideas and opinions, our family vacations to either WDW or DLR would had never be the same.
DH grew from "Are you still talking to those guys you don't even know?!!" :surfweb: to "Why don't you ask the DISers? they'll help us" :wizard:

MrsPinup, I didn't see you but you have my sympathies! Having a child throwing up in public is never a fun experience, especially when crowds are as heavy as they felt that day!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! What a great place this is

:( I hope he's OK!!!

Welcome!! I hope we see you around here more often! :) And I'm thrilled you found such great help here!

The info on this board is beyond priceless!! Just today I found great idea for fast pass/ticket holders. Beyond that, the simple tricks for managing crowds can make a nightmare crowded day into magic.

My girls and I plus my middle girl's boyfriend went the week after new years. Parks were crowded, probably the most crowded I had ever seen. He had not been to Disneyland in 6 years :confused3 . Anyway, he kinda freaked out when he saw the crowds. Not to worry, I told him, we have a plan!

We arrived at opening, rode rides while lines were short, collected a mass of fast passes, ate during off times, positioned ourselves properly for fireworks, small world and castle lightups and the beautiful snowfall. We rode every ride we wanted 2 or 3 times and did not wait longer than 35 mins (Matterhorn)in any line. Had a magical day. (I had never seen the Xmas decor). DD's boyfriend was totally impressed. Said his family seems to just stand in the longest line they can find when they've come to Disneyland. He said I rock!!!!

All of this I owe to the DISers!! THANK YOU!!!!!

:welcome: to the DIS, Ingrid0382. Nice first post. :)

We have a wonderful group here in our corner of the DISboards.

I couldn't agree more! Thank you to all of the DISers for sharing your love of Disneyland and all of your great tips! I'm sad that the Disney leg of our trip is over, but it was so magical! You have three new Disneyland fans here!!

I know how it is! My 4 yr old at that time, painted the shrubs around the Carousel at WDW with many a pretty disney colored candy color, As I stood shocked and dismayed. But the CM's could not have been nicer, assuring me that they would spray down the shrubs with water And it wasn't the bushs first occasion nor would it be there last soaking. And better the bushs than the the ride!

Poor Child had the flu! And the barf bag had a hole in the bottom!! I wished I had the CM's on the Plane the next morning, rather than the Flight Attendants that ignored me all the way to Huston!

After that we ALL Ways check the Bags for holes!! Apparently babies like to teeth on the bottom of bags causing hole, and then replace them in the seat backs to punk other flyer with week stomachs!!:confused3:scared1::sad2:

Hello Everyone! We haven't been to DLR in a few years. Starting to plan our trip for this summer and really would love to find as many money saving tips as possible. What coupons/passes do you mean? Thanks so much!
Cyndi:)
