23 Nights, 40 ADRS, too many food pics to count!! COMPLETED 01/22!

Those appetizers at FF look amazing! I love it there.

I'm eager to try the white pizza from VN. I've had the margherita before, so there are many I need to try!

Great pictures and reviews. It looks like we are getting the grand tour all around WDW. Keep up the wonderful posts.

Thank you so much for your reviews and pictures; very helpful! :thumbsup2

Thank you very much.

Your dinner at Flying Fish looks wonderful :cloud9:

I think we caught them on a bad night when we ate there in October as pretty much every review I read is excellent

Yummy looking Pizza at VN as well :thumbsup2

We've always had good food at Flying Fish. Hopefully you did just catch them on a bad night and you'll give them another try at some point.

Hope to get to VN on our next trip. Everything looks delish!

VN was very nice, the quattro pizza especially was delicious!

The apps from FF were amazing, definitely some of the best of the trip. The white pizza was immense, hope you get to try it on your next trip.

Thanks, we did visit a lot of WDW restaurants!:rotfl:

We had a VIP viewing for wishes included with our package, so watched Wishes from MK then walked to contemporary for our 9:40pm reservation.

We checked in, and as usual for Cali Grill were told they were running about 20 minutes behind. We went up to restaurant which was busy but the lounge wasn’t that crowded so we were able to grab a table while we waited. I ordered a Golden Gate which was very good, a mix of Remy VSOP, amaretto, cranberry, and orange juice, while DH ordered a glass of Malbec which was also very good.
IMG_1552.jpg

We were sat around 10:10, in the wine room at the back, at a nice corner table. We were able to watch the Electric Water Pageant while waiting to order.

Service very good, possibly best of the trip so far. Our server paced the meal well, was always available when needed and had a good understanding of the menu and wine lists.

For my appetiser I chose the Dungeness Crab stack. This was wonderful, plenty of fresh crab meat, paired nicely with chunks of avocado, chopped tomatoes and olive oil based dressing. A nice light starter.
IMG_1553.jpg

DH had seafood roll, sushi roll filled with crab meat and avocado, topped with salmon, avocado and some type of white fish. This was very good sushi, the fish was very fresh and melted in your mouth, the rice was well seasoned and had a great texture to it. It was served with a sour cream based dip as well as traditional soy sauce.
IMG_1554.jpg

For my entree I chose the classic pork with goats cheese polenta, mushrooms and red wine sauce. As usual this was amazing, perfectly pink, tender pork,a strong goats cheese flavour in the polenta which worked well with the sauce and pork. I couldn’t finish it but it was really good, definitely one of my favourite WDW entrees.
IMG_1555.jpg

DH chose yellowtail snapper, served with sugar snap peas and dungeness crab risotto. The risotto was delicious, creamy sauce, soft rice and had a strong crab flavour. The snapper was very well cooked, and the sugar snap peas added a little bite to dish.
IMG_1556.jpg

I was too full for dessert but DH ordered the strawberry rhubarb cobbler. Like the other course this was very good, plenty of tart fruit, topped with plenty of crumble, not an overly sweet dessert but it worked well with the smooth vanilla ice cream.
IMG_1557.jpg

Overall we had a very nice meal here, the restaurant emptied out and quietened down while we ate and there were only a few people left when we finished around 11:15. We experienced very good service and food, and it was a lovely way to finish our stay at beach club.

We were checking out of Beach Club and moving to universal today, so we had breakfast at Kouzzina to use up the last of our DxDDP credits.

Our reservation was at 9:15. We checked in just beforehand and were told it would be a 10 minute wait, which turned out to be only a couple of minutes.

Kouzzina was around a third full, and we were sat in same spot as we had for dinner but the atmosphere was much quieter than our dinner here. There was no sign of our server for over 10 minutes, so by the time she appeared we were ready to order. DH ordered coffee and I had orange juice.

My orange juice turned up quickly but the coffee didn’t appear until after our food arrived. Our server said she had to brew a new pot, but i’m pretty sure she just forgot about it.

I ordered blueberry orange granola pancake which was the biggest pancake I had ever seen. This was actually very good, nice and thick meaning it was crispy on edge but soft in middle. The blueberries were baked in and were quite tart when they burst open, there was a nice orange flavour and the granola sprinkled on top added a different texture. I had it served with chicken sausage which was nice, reasonably spicy and didn’t seem as greasy as pork sausage often is.
IMG_1561.jpg

DH chose the Mascarpone pecan waffle, this was a thick golden waffle, crisp on the outside but still soft inside. The cream was really good and had a decent mascarpone flavour, served sprinkled with pecans. He had it served with fruit rather than meat, which was no problem, and the fruit was nice and ripe.
IMG_1562.jpg

Overall we had a nice breakfast, service was ok (not great but certainly better than dinner), and the restaurant seemed to run much smoother than dinner had. It’s still not a must do for me but we would return for breakfast.

Your dinner at California Grill looks wonderful
I really like the look of the entree your DH ordered :)

I want to try Kouzzina for breakfast so bad, I have a 7:30 am ADR but JB has now changed our departing flight time by 55mins and I am not sure about keeping it since I am estimateing now that our ME pickup time will be 8:45am, we are staying at the BWI. In your oppinion would we have time to be seated , order, be served and eat? :confused3

Loving your reviews :thumbsup2

I wouldn't chance it. I love breakfast at Kouzzina but it has the slowest service I've ever encountered...and I've had this experience over multiple trips.

It was a fabulous meal, we loved every course!

I agree with JediJill I wouldn't chance it. Service was slow, even though the restaurant was pretty empty. It was our longest breakfast of the trip, taking around an hour (whereas other breakfasts were taking under 45 mins).

I'm all caught up again. I am so having the potato wrapped fish at Flying Fish :thumbsup2

are you watching the match? Sheeesh 3-1 with four minutes to go......

The snapper was very good, hope you enjoy it.

No I'm not a big football fan really, it's normally on in the background though as DH watches every match he can. He's going to the Man U game tomorrow night, I imagine Newcastle are going to lose that one!

We checked in at Royal Pacific then headed to IOA until our room was ready. We ended up grabbing lunch at Cafe 4 as the Harry Potter area was manic so we didn’t brave the three broomsticks.

DH had cheese pizza which he said was fine and I had spaghetti and meatballs. This took ages to come out as they were waiting for bread, but it was tasty and the bread was lovely and hot.

IMG_1564.jpg

We had drinks and appetisers in lounge before going to HHN so no dinner to review this night.

The next morning we took advantage of Early Access to HP and arrived just after 8. As a huge fan of the books this land was amazing to me, the ride was mind blowing and the theming fantastic. I bought a frozen butterbeer in a souvenir glass, which was good, pretty sweet with a nice butterscotch flavour.
IMG_1566.jpg

We decided to have lunch at Bubba Gumps, we arrived around 12:45 with no reservation and were seated in a booth immediately. The place was around half full but had quite a bustling atmosphere, and I enjoyed the Forrest Gump theming.

To drink I had the speckled lemonade which was good but a little too sweet for me. DH had blueberry smoothie which he really liked, it was nice and thick with a good blueberry flavour.
IMG_1571.jpg

We skipped appetisers and I chose the Dumb Luck Coconut Shrimp as my entree. This was really good, fresh shrimp with a thick but crunchy coconut batter, cooked well meaning they weren’t at all rubbery. The fries were hot and crispy, and the cajun marmalade dip was sweet with a slight hint of spice which worked really well with the shrimp.
IMG_1572.jpg

DH had the I’m stuffed shrimp -Shrimp with Crab Stuffing, baked in Garlic Butter, and topped with Monterey Jack Cheese. The shrimp were well cooked, there was plenty of crab and garlic flavour, and the rice was cooked well. He loved the cheesey garlic bread it was served with, which had a very strong cheese taste.
IMG_1573.jpg

We were both full so skipped dessert but we enjoyed our meal here and will definitely be back. We went to HHN again tonight so again no dinner review.

The following day we had lunch at Emerils booked. It was very quiet, and we were sat immediately at a window table which gave us a nice view across City Walk. This was our first visit to Emerils but we’d enjoyed Tchoup Chop so had reasonably high expectations.
Service was very good here, we had three servers looking after us which was great but they must find it difficult to make a lot in tips with so few lunch time patrons.

To drink I had a glass of Savignon Blanc and DH had beer. We both decided on the 3 course set lunch menu, as at $22 it seemed to be a bargain!

We were served two kinds of bread to start. The cornbread was warm and delicious, the other roll was very crusty and a little too hard to eat.
IMG_1576.jpg

To start I had the seafood and andouille gumbo. This was very nice, I was worried it would be too spicy but it had lots of flavour rather than spice. There was lots of sausage in my portion, a few pieces of nicely cooked shrimp and perfectly cooked rice.
IMG_1577.jpg

DH had the steamed mussels with peppers and paprika broth. The strong flavours of broth, overwhelmed the flavour of the mussels slightly but it was a nice starter, not great.
IMG_1578.jpg

For my entree I chose the pork milanese, served with walnut aioli, green beans and arugula. The pork was very nicely cooked, two thin fillets in a very crispy breading. The walnut mousse was very tasty and worked well with the pork and the green beans were also good, served with butter and they still had a nice bite to them.
IMG_1579.jpg

DH had the Ahi tuna tacos. The tuna was flavourful and had been seared nicely, it was cooked may be a little more than i would have expected but it was still tasty. The tortillas were soft, accompanied by sour cream and a very spicy salsa.
IMG_1580.jpg

For dessert DH chose the bread pudding. He said it was nice but nothing special, stating it had more of a firm custard texture than bread pudding. I had a little bite and thought it was quite nice.
IMG_1581.jpg

I chose the Praline cheesecake, a nice creamy cheesecake, with a good praline flavour and chunks of almond to add crunch, served with a sweet caramel sauce.
IMG_1582.jpg

Overall we had a very nice meal here. It wasn’t the best food we had all trip but it was certainly the best value! Our meal here didn’t cost much more than our entrees at Bubba Gumps, and it was much cheaper than any of Disney’s signatures which the atmosphere, service and (some of the food) were comparable with. If they are still running the same offer in September, we’ll definitely be returning.

Great updates!:goodvibes
We ate at Bubba Gumps last year and all enjoyed our entrees and the atmosphere. And I loved that we didn't need ADR's to get in .

And we all  Frozen Butterbeer.

We didn't try Emeril's as I thought it would be too expensive since our boys both eat from adult menus. If we're down that way again, I'll be sure to check for the set menu.:thumbsup2

That sounds yummy.

How I wish I was at the Harry potter land right now :)

I know, so do I! Oh well only another 8 months and a bit to go until we're back!!

Great updates!:goodvibes

Thank you. I love the spontaneity of dining at Universal, you can just walk up to any restaurant especially at lunch and pretty much get right in, what a contrast to WDW!

Definitely have a look at the set menu, I think it's only offered at lunch but it was a great meal and at $22 a person it's a steal!

We spent the day at Seaworld. For lunch we had burgers (DH Veggie and me Beef) from one of the CS places there. We got there around 11:45 so the restaurant was quiet and everything was hot and fresh.
IMG_1599.jpg

For dinner we had an 8pm reservation at Tchoup Chop. We arrived 10 mins early, the place was very busy but we were sat immediately in a nice corner booth.

We had a good team of servers here who were always around when we needed them. We were given iced water and prawn crackers straight away, I love Prawn Crackers

I ordered a Tchoup Chop Dragon to drink, this was sweet but good and you could taste alcohol, I also loved the tiki glass it was served in.
DH just had a glass of wine.
IMG_1602.jpg

I’d sampled some appetizers in the lounge earlier so decided to go straight for an entree, but DH ordered Kicked up crab cake to start. This was delivered quickly, but was hot and fresh, large chunks of tasty crab meat, crispy breading, reasonably spicy, served with a sweet pineapple salsa. I had a little bite and really liked it.
IMG_1601.jpg

For my entree I had salmon, with lobster sauce. The salmon was nicely cooked served medium rare, the sauce was gorgeous with a similar flavour to a good lobster bisque, creamy but tons of lobster flavour. It was served with roasted purple potatoes which were nice and soft, and broccolini. A very good entree.
IMG_1603.jpg

DH ordered that nights special, which was yellowtail snapper, with soy and tomato based sauce. Again this was delicious, the sauce was smoky, silky in texture and not overly salty from the soy. The fish was well cooked and worked well with the sauce.
IMG_1604.jpg

We’d been given voucher for free piece of banana cream pie, so I chose that for dessert. This was so good, creamy pie with a strong banana flavour and big of chunks of sweet banana hidden inside, thick graham cracker base, topped with cream and caramel sauce. This was a huge slice which turned out to be a good thing as DH didn’t like his dessert so shared mine.
IMG_1605.jpg

Dh ordered bread pudding, it was served just lukewarm and would have been better hot. The pudding itself was ok but it should have been served with a whiskey caramel sauce, there was hardly any sauce on the dish, making it too dry. He ate a little, but then just shared mine.
IMG_1606.jpg

Overall this was very nice meal, with the exception of DH’s dessert. Again the food and atmosphere are similar to Disney’s Signature restaurants but the price is little cheaper, and the free dessert was a nice bonus.

The following day we were supposed to go to Mall at Millennia and have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. I hurt my ankle the previous night by going over on my heel so rested all morning in the room before deciding to brave the parks for lunch. My ankle was still hurting so we took the boat to Citywalk, as soon as we got off the boat we realised DH forgot the tickets! As Nascar Cafe is closest to boat dock so decided to eat there before heading back to pick up our park tickets.

We were sat at a booth immediately, it was very quiet but it was only around 12:30. Our waitress good although she definitely pushed the alcohol. I just stuck with diet coke but DH had a beer which came with a souvenir glass.

I was really craving chili so decided to get two apps, bowl of chili topped with cheese and a spinach artichoke dip to share with DH. The Chili very nice, not to spicy, plenty of beans, a sprinkling of cheese on top. It was very good with tortilla chips from my spinach dip dipped in.
IMG_1611.jpg

The dip was ok, I was expecting it to be hot for some reason. The dip was creamy, quite tangy with plenty of artichoke flavour but I didn’t love it. This was an enormous portion and we managed to eat just under half.
IMG_1609.jpg

DH had fish and chips. Again this was a big portion (I always forget how much bigger the portions are here compared to Disney),four pieces of fish in a nice crispy batter, served with fries. Nice dish but big portion and he struggled to finish this and help me with the dip.
IMG_1610.jpg

Overall we enjoyed our lunch here, the cost was reasonable and we had good service. After heading back to the hotel to get our tickets, we spent the rest of the afternoon at IOA. It wasn’t that crowded and we rode Forbidden Journey again with only a 20 minute wait. As we we leaving I really fancied chocolate so on our way out of IOA we stopped at the candy store. DH chose a peanut butter explosion, which was really just a thick chocolate covered mallow which could have done with more peanut butter flavour.
IMG_1612.jpg

I chose the Heath smore which was very nice, thick chocolate coating soft mallow, topped pieces of heath bar.
IMG_1614.jpg

We skipped dinner again and just had apps from lounge. This was the first night we’d been at the hotel when desserts were served so we sampled two cookies and cupcakes. These were very nice, the strawberry cupcake was my favourite with a sweet yet strong strawberry flavoured frosting.
IMG_1615.jpg

I have really enjoyed your dining reviews! I am so jealous that you got to stay at Disney so long! We are going next month but are only at WDW for 4 days then we move on to a cruise. Hopefully our next trip we can plan some more time and restaurants! We have the regular dining plan during our stay and are really looking forward to it! I hope to read your next trip/dining review soon...Thanks!

I have loved reading your reviews!! I can't believe how many places you ate at. I can't wait to read about V & a's.. Looking forward to the rest!!
