Totally overwhelmed with SSR- decide for me

FYI - the Grandstand pool bar is only open until 5 if I recall correctly. Paddock's pool grill is more extensive and open longer but farther from the main pool.

Good to know, thank you. I'm thinking October will still be fairly warm so we'd need drinks and food after 5 pm.

..And the grandstand refill station does not open before noon so morning refills are not possible.

Most of Grandstand has golf course type views. 2 of the buildings are as close to AP/Turf Club as Springs, but 2 buildings are farther and require a trek across the parking lot to get anywhere...

Paddock is more on the public edge of Disney and some views are more busy (ie the "fire station" view). I still think I would overall lean Grandstand, but as someone who likes variety I would request Paddock my next time (as I would like to try the new feature pool and dining)..

Do you know the building numbers of the closest buildings at Grandstand?

As another poster said....this is really a matter of priorities.....a lot of people love Congress Park with DTD views.....the one time we stayed at CP...didn't care for it....even though we had great views of DTD.....just too far removed from everything else at SSR. DH and I had a wonderful room one time in the Springs overlooking the pond with a fountain right in front of our balcony, but, we've also had not so good views at the Springs and the bus stop is the last and the buses are always crowded by the time they get to Springs, however, proximity to Carriage House/Springs pool can't be beat. Last January I had requested Grandstand, however, we were assigned to Carousel building closest to the Paddock area.....which was OK with us because we had our car for that trip....so we didn't need to depend on the buses and really didn't need to get over to the Carriage House much that trip anyway. However, if your biggest priority is being close to a feature pool/BBQ area/with food/drink available.....I would have to say Paddock or Grandstand would be your best bet......Grandstand also having the benefit of being the first bus stop. Also, keep in mind the more general your requests are, the better chances of having some of them met....I've always tried to keep that in mind when making a request......my usual requests are simply higher floor and a section of the resort.....never a specific building or room number....because I would imagine that's simply a nightmare for the room schedulers.....

Unfortunately, no. I would just request near pool.

Okay, thank you. :goodvibes

 I have requested specific rooms at the GCV. Thankfully it worked out but it's a small resort. I will take your advice and go with either Garndstand or Paddock. Congress Park holds no appeal for me. I'd rather have a pool or gold course view. At this point, our biggest priority is what you said, location to the main areas and a good pool with services. The kids will have more freedom this trip so I'd like to make it as stress free as possible for me.

So I should suggest either Paddock or Granstand with a pool view? That sounds pretty generic.

We like congress park best. We don't mind the walk to the main pool. But we tend to go to DTD alot and being able to walk over is the best. I don't really think there is a bad place to stay. paddock has the new pool. Grandstand is close to the main lobby and has a great pool of its own. Spring close to main pool/building. That is why we love SSR. Most don't like it but we do.:thumbsup2

We toured before buying and I have no doubt we'll love it more once we stay there. It's beautiful. DH loves to golf and I'm getting a pedicure on arrival day (thanks for the idea Sammie). :thumbsup2 I am a big walker so walking paths are great too. I think once the kids get older DTD will be a bigger draw for us but all they want to do is shop when we're in DTD. I like to spend one afternoon/evening there with the kids. Once we can ditch them  I'll enjoy it more. Right now now though being close to a pool with services is key. A nice view will be a bonus. I have been spoiled with all of our DVC views.

We were in the Paddock last trip looking right over the new pool. It was so handy for snacks, drinks, laundry, swimming. It was a short walk over the bridge to the main lobby/food and less than 10 min to the ferry. I would request this area again, we loved it.

We LOVE Congress Park area. It is a bit of a walk to the Main area but we don't mind walking. The DTD views are great and we love walking to DTD (so many good restaurants there!) We were thinking of staying in the Paddock area next time but being so close to DTD is key for us!! Good luck with your decision!!

I'm so leaning towards the Paddock area. I just some some real live pics from a FB friend and it looks great. Wonder how bring the pool lights are at night? I'm guessing the pool closes at 10 pm like most other resorts.

Thank you! DH would love the DTD view for sure. It's very pretty.

For those looking for maps of SSR, Google Maps now has building numbers for SSR as well as for Old Key West. Simply zoom in to WDW and take a look around. It's pretty handy.

Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is really fun but i would suggest Magnolia or the palms. In my opinion they are better courses. But then again he may have already played them, But incause he hasnt i figured I would tell you. Plus be sure to buy then member golf card. Its really worth it.

I wouldn't mind the walk and DH would love the view. It's those pesky kids I'm concerned with. I have seen some killer DTD views too.

:thanks: Is that the $50 card? We haven't been to WDW since May 2009 so I'm rusty on a lot of the perks there. He'll appreciate the info. :thumbsup2

You will absolutely love SSR. It is awesomeness personified! :goodvibes

We're so excited :woohoo: Originally we were going to do half SSR half THV. Then DD suggested AKV. So the decision changed to SSR/AKV. Guess what?

Now they said they want the THV again.

I'm good with whatever and was so excited to stay at the THV. Now they got all me stoked for AKV and I have done a ton of research. Luckily I have the THV booked and am waiting to change to AKV and a 2 bedroom at SSR at the 7 month mark. I know I can change now to the 2 bedroom but am unsure what will ensue the next 70ish days so I am hesitant.
