No wbta 2013

Ok... burning question time.

For all you folks that got guaranteed cabins last time, were you happy with the cabin you got?

We were an inside on Deck 6 last time, and loved it! However I remember that a guaranteed Oceanview was actually running for a little bit less than what we paid for the inside. Our TA couldn't get it changed for some reason, so before we sign on again, I'm just checking our options. A little extra space is always a plus when you've got 4 in a cabin!

So, your thoughts on the guaranteed cabins?

We booked a oceanview and transfered it to a restricted guaranteed verrandah (VGT) for less. We booked it by DCL and had to phone for the transfer, but it was no problem. We ended on deck 6 aft and where very pleased with it.
For the Hawai we have a guaranteed inside (11B). This time we booked by Lynne.
I don't know what we do for the TA. I think that we book on the Hawai cruise and see then, or transfer it on that cruise. I depend on the fares what we gonna book. But we book on board this time that's for sure.
We don't mind to not know the exact roomnumber till late.

We are a "maybe". Curt is in a seniority-based position at the airline, so he bids his schedule in June and then bids vacation in August for all of 2013. Needless to say, when it comes out we will probably book, then see if all the stars line up just right. :thumbsup2 Kiddos as well, of course :)

What's that saying... "Book vacation first, then ask forgiveness later" ?? ;)

Do you want us to come up with an "emergency" for you? It wouldn't be the same without you guys!

My DW and I will go. We have a cruise planned for 2013 on the Fantasy and would gladly move it to this if it happens.:thumbsup2

Not sure if this will help as I cruise solo, but....

for the 2010 EBTA I had a gty cat 12 and ended up in a cat 10 on deck 2. If I remember correctly, some people with cat 10 ended up with verandahs. It all depends on who books what I guess.

Good morning everyone!

It's freezing here in Florida - brrrrrr. I'm dealing with the cold my brother and his partner brought as a gift. :sad2: Yuck. Oh well, bed rest and this meet thread are my plans for the day.

To answer a question I got asked many pages ago (wow are we prolific!):

No, I haven't heard any rumors of pricing. I'm not a CM any longer, and even then we knew about as much as the bus drivers who always seem to have "inside information" :lmao:

I did ask a few people what they paid on the past WBTAs so I could get a ballpark figure of what I could expect. A little more pricey than I had thought, but oh well. I either hope to book a dummy onboard during my Dream cruise next month, or re-shop if DCL has opened bookings before then.

Several people PM'ed me about 800FlyEurope. I think that is going to be the way to go! I had been thinking it'd cost me $1K or more for airfare, so the prices I'm seeing for 2012 as a guideline are a welcome sight.

Hi Davidls - I recognize you from one of the meet threads I was on!

WOW can't believe how many of us are planning to go. Goal for the next few years, I will not try to be so shy and attended more dis activities. Love to see all the familar faces.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Hi everyone it's so great to see all the old names and faces, the internet can certainly be a wonderful thing at times.... lol a dis thread and a facebook page in less time than it takes to get a bus into town !!!! DH made me laugh by telling me he's going to get his disney bits box organised, and we even discussed fish extenders :rotfl2::rotfl2: actually he may be just as excited as me !!

Mandy,
Boy do I remember those days at SWA, tell Curt, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, or in his case at the end of the runway :rotfl::rotfl:, it is so nice not to have to think about putting in for vacation time and having to wait and wait to find out if you got what you wanted.:yay: or:sad2:. Will keep fingers crossed for the next year that by then he will have top seniority :thumbsup2 and all of you will be there.;)

Yes Crystal you must! :) We don't bite, but we (or should I say I) can get a bit confused when early mornings & bad hangovers are involved! That was so funny on the Dolphin boat.

Yay for Norman. I have a Disney bits box too that I love filling up when I have a trip planned. I can't wait until it's official so I can dig it out and fill it up.......come on DCL are you listening to us!!!! :listen:

You are too sweet, Dawn! Just get Steve on his case! LOL. Seriously though, this dental thing on Thursday (part one of three) will cost more out of pocket than the cruise did for our family of four, but I think the WBTA is far enough away we can have time to save $$$$. (Stupid bicycle wreck as a kid has now culminated to having the front tooth extracted on Thursday...)

I like that plan! :)

Thanks Evelyn! And of course since he switched into that department after already being at the company 10+ years, you start over in seniority, and their contract has been under negotiation for 2+ years now, plus the Air Tran thing now (including how to merge seniority lists). Some scenarios of merging the seniority lists have him moving down the list - ugh - So much is up in the air! But luckily October should not be a big month people go after in Round One for bidding - not like March, April, Summer, Thanksgiving or Christmas. (Ummm, yes.... we'd be bidding WBTA vacation over Christmas!)

We did Gty10 (specific category booking) and got either 8 or 9.... the single porthole on deck 2. Loved it! The girls spent so much time climbing in that porthole while we were getting dressed. We might not do the OGTY category booking since those are nonrefundable or changeable, and I know I changed my reservation probably three different times last time because of new deals that came out with OBC through various agencies. With the size of the Magic, I think anywhere on the ship is fine. :thumbsup2
