Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

Our flight arrives at 845PM - hubby and daughter will be using DME while son and I grab the rental car. For later flights are the timeframes in which bags will be delivered to room still around 3 hours?

The times should still hold...but remember, it's three hours from resort checkin, not airport arrival. If you arrive at 8:45, you should be at your resort by 10, and your bags should be there by midnight-ish.
If I were arriving at 8:45, and was renting a car, I would most likely get the bags myself, rather than tag them and have DME take them. But, that's just me.

We have three travelling and received 3 long yellow luggage tags. Do we cut them in half to make 6 luggage tags? Seems to be the way to go, BUT:

The reason I ask is the bar code on each half(if I cut them) of the tag is the same and I wondered if the computer system could handle two bags with the same bar code.:confused3

No, do not cut the tags. They only send one tag per person, so those are three tags and are not intended to be cut. If you need more tags for more bags you can call and request more.

Ouch!
We leave tomorrow and didn't pay attention until today.:scared1:

I located this advice earlier in the thread about providing your untagged bag's claim number at the DME desk in Florida. You could call DME again today and confirm this is the right step. I suspect it still is:

An update on our question regarding the need of a 3d tag. I called MS, the CM was REALLY hesitant and did NOT want me to cut/copy one of my tags. The end result was per her instruction, we deplaned and went to the ME counter, explained we had 2 bags tagged and 1 not tagged, the CM there wrote down the baggage claim check number and told us a work order would be put in for it. It was quite late, so we waited until the next AM to call Bell Services. All 3 bags were there. It worked fine. However, now I know that when I make reservations, I will ask for a 3d tag.

Someone else mentioned on another forum you can just pick up the untagged (DME) bag at the baggage claim and take it to the DME desk.

Since we have a 2 bedroom at the BWV we can wash some clothes and pack less. Wife says we can cram into 3 bags.

Thanks!

Each guest gets 2 DME luggage tags, which is the same as the maximum number of checked bags that most airlines allow per person. If you need more, DME will provide more. DME will transport any checked luggage transported by your airline.

We got ours last month and checked them today. (Like a dummy, we leave tomorrow)
They only gave us three tags for 3 adult travelers, one each.

I expected two per traveler. Someone said you have to ask for the two per traveler.

It used to be two tags per traveler -- the post you quoted is from 2006 -- now it's one per traveler unless you request more.

Long story short.....DME used to send two tags per ticketed person. But when the airlines started charging for those second checked bags, people stopped using the second tag...just tossed them out. So, DME decided to be proactive and started sending just the one per person. If someone needs more than that, they can call DME and get more. But, you do have to do it ahead of time.
If you want to pick up your own bags (untagged) at baggage claim, that's fine as well. You can take them to the DME bus with you. They will go beneath the bus you are traveling on.
Or, you can bypass baggage claim and head directly to DME checkin. They will copy your baggage claim receipts, take a description of the bags and they will have someone collect the bags for you and have them delivered to your room.
You don't go to baggage claim, get your bags and then bring them, with you, to DME checkin, and then have someone else take them and deliver them to the resort for you. Just wanted to be sure that was understood. Don't want any misinformation out there.

At what point would you call/question where your DME tags are? We have ALWAYS received our tags no later than 45 days out. We are now at 35 or so. With the holidays in there, I know some mail might be slower. But was curous as to when I should check in with my DU agent.

Thanks!!

I have been getting mine at the four week mark, but others have said they get theirs later than that...maybe 3 weeks prior. When you get to the 4 week mark, and don't have your packet, I would double check with the DU agent. Although....since you've used DU, I would imagine that all is fine.

I'm sorry, I've relaly tried to find what I was looking for, but when a thread gets this long, it's hard. I'm sure the info is in there.

I know the DME info says you get a departure time and place the day before you leave, but that puts you within the 24 cancellation window for ADRs.:guilty: I know it also said it's generally 3 hours before your flight. I've read though that it can be as little as 2 as well. I'd REALLY like to have an 8:40 breakfast at Crystal Palace w/ just me and hubs (so we'll not take more than about 40 minutes) and I'm pretty certain we could be back to the BLT/CR where we are staying by 10am and we'd leave our bags w/ bell services before we went to breakfast. BUT, our flight leaves at 12:45pm. I WISH I could have gotten a later flight, but it is what it is. I'm not one to push things but since we won't have the kids with, I'm trying to cram in all I can. Do I have a snowball's chance? Will the DME people at MCO or the desk people be able to tell me more about the time to expect? or should I not bother w/ that last ditch attempt at a meal? NO WAY will I do CMs, that'd be so much simpler though. *sigh*

I wouldn't chance it. You really should be there 3 hours before, which wouldn't give you enough time to eat and get back to CR. What if you aren't seated in time? It's too close for me.

Yeah, and I'm a horrible worrier so I bet I'd be so bent out of shape I'd not enjoy myself. :( Maybe room service is in order.;) Cheaper too!

As you said, your bus will be around 9:30. You're supposed to be out there 15 minutes early. I really don't see how you'd make it work.

I wouldn't try it. In 2010, we decided to have our kids pictures drawn in the lobby of POR before we left Disney. We didn't realize how long it would take. The bus arrived, the artist was finishing, then DH had to pay. We held up the bus for 10 minutes. We didn't mean to, but we were stuck in the middle of it. We were going to get our luggage off the bus, take a cab, something, but kept thinking any second we'd be done. Anyway, the bus driver was very angry. We were embarrassed and upset. It wasn't a nice way to end the trip. I felt terrible. Stressed me out completely!

It's going to be 3 hours plus or minus 15 minutes. The time they assign you is the time your bus is scheduled to leave - you'll need to be at the bus stop completely ready to board the bus 15 minutes before that. That means you'll want to plan on being back at the resort about 4 hours before your flight is scheduled.

If you schedule an 8:40 breakfast, and you eat very quickly, and you don't bother to stick around for all of the characters, you might be able to make it back to the resort by 10:00, but you would definitely still miss your bus.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but you really need to shoot for being back at the resort no later than 9:00.

With a flight departure of 12:45, you will be given a p/u time of between 9:30 and 9:50ish. There is no way you are going to make it if you keep an 8:45 ADR at CP. First of all...you are never seated ontime at CP...never. And even if you were to be seated at 8:45, you wouldn't be out of there until at least 9:30..and it would probably take longer. Then you have to get back to the CR....takes at least 15 mins. Then gather your carryon things..another 10 mins. Yep, you've missed the bus.
Even if you were able to snag an ADR for 8:00, you won't be able to do it.

Just forget about heading to a park, and eat something at the Contempo Cafe. Take all your carryon bags with you, eat your breakfast, then head down to the DME bus stop by 9:15. Much better idea...this way you won't be rushed and frantic!!!
