Pre Trip Reports for October 2012 and June 2013

Hi everyone – this is my pre-trip report for our upcoming trips in 2012 and beyond!

Who

Me – Emma, 27.. lifelong fan of all things Disney! I’ve been lucky enough to visit Walt Disney World 12 times so far and went on my first ever Disney cruise this summer as part of our honeymoon :lovestruc (link in signature if you are interested in reading about it).

My wonderful husband – Steve, 27, not quite as much of a Disney fan as I am :cutie:, but he loves the parks and many of the movies.

When

As the title suggests, I’m currently plan not one, but two future trips to WDW! :woohoo:

The first will be in October 2012.. we’ve booked seven nights at the Boardwalk Villas (our DVC home resort) on October 7th.

We’d visited WDW in October 2008 and agreed it was one of our favourite times to go … this time we’re hoping to try out more of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival

(In 2008.. Canada pavilion – with the famous cheddar cheese soup!)

And attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!

As this trip is still many months away, I don’t have a lot planned out yet.. but as we start to think about ADRs and other activities I’ll be sure to post about them.
After WDW, we’re also hoping to spend a few days on the west coast of Florida with my parents at their house. :thumbsup2

Then.. our second trip is booked for June 2013… we are going on a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise onboard the Disney Fantasy ship! :cloud9:

disney-fantasy.jpg

We will probably spend a few days either side of this at WDW – but again this trip is far, far away and all I can really do is read about our ports of call & watch the progress of the Fantasy ship as it is built..

Disney Fantasy - construction.. webcam

We agreed very early on during our 5-night cruise on the Dream that we wanted to go on another one! 7 nights should be a good length, and we’ll get to visit places we’ve never been before. It will also be our two year wedding anniversary too.

The cruise itinerary is:

June 22nd – Port Canaveral
June 23rd – at sea
June 24th – Grand Cayman
June 25th – Costa Maya
June 26th – Cozumel
June 27th – at sea
June 28th – Castaway Cay
June 29th – Port Canaveral

We’re very excited to visit Castaway Cay again – it was paradise there last June. We’d definitely like to eat at Remy and Palo, and probably book a spa villa one day too – it was so relaxing and luxurious!

That’s about it for now – as the trips get closer I’m sure I’ll have much more to share & discuss!

Yay! Can't wait to read more! I'm so excited. You did such a great job on the first TR that I can't wait to read the ones coming up. I know it seems so far away, but it'll be here before you know it! Yay! Can't wait to read more!

Followed you along from the Oct 2012 thread. We are staying at BW next year over Christmas for 7nts and are really looking forward to that trip. Our Oct trip is just a quick trip, but I am still just as excited about that one too.

I'm dying to go on a Disney cruise. Someday...

Jumped over from the Oct thread!

BW is such a beautiful resort. But I'm so afraid of the pool. :rotfl:

I'm so jealous you're going to cruise on the Fantasy! I've been on a Disney cruise before but not the new ships yet.

Looking forward to reading more about both trips :)

Here I am!

Definitely subbing!

We are also going in October!! Can't wait to hear more about your plans!

Wow thank you all for subscribing already! Looking forward to sharing the plans for these trips as we get closer :cutie:

We're having an usually quiet weekend - all the Christmas shopping is done so I don't need to go out anywhere, I bet the shops are all crazy busy today too! :santa:

Little update coming up ...

October 2012 Planning… Where to Eat?!

As I love to plan ahead (especially for trips to Disney!) I’ve already been thinking about potential places to eat next October.
Dining is a big part of our vacations to Florida, the variety and themeing of the restaurants in WDW is amazing! While we have our favourites, I’m always keen to try out new places too. :goodvibes

We’ll want to have a couple of afternoons/evenings free to eat at the Food and Wine Festival, so I’m planning to make five ADRs for the other days.

Our ‘ADR day’ isn’t until April (and I think it’s Easter Monday which is a public holiday here, so I’ll be able to go online at 11am/phone DVC to get everything booked!) … but here are some ideas I’ve had so far…

Via Napoli

Menu

We’ve not eaten here before but I think the menu looks great and I’ve heard nothing but good reviews about it! We could maybe have lunch here after a morning in Epcot, before strolling back to the Boardwalk for an afternoon break.

Todd English’s Blue Zoo

Menu

This is a restaurant I’d not really thought about trying, until I head a review of it on the WDW Radio show a few months ago. It sounds like a fantastic dining experience, a bit like Victoria and Albert’s at the Grand Floridian where we ate on our honeymoon. Steve quite enjoys watching chef/cooking programmes so I think he’ll really like this one! Also with it being at the Dolphin resort it will be easier for us to get to from the Boardwalk.

Tusker House – breakfast

I went here with my sister on our trip in 2009, and we really enjoyed it!

Menu

Steve & I both enjoyed breakfast at Boma last summer, so I think this will be a good place to go on our Animal Kingdom day. I’d try to get an 8/8.30am reservation so that we’d be in the park & ready to get to Expedition Everest or Kilimanjaro Safaris after eating!

Chefs de France

Menu

This is somewhere we’ve still never been to so think it might have to be tried this trip! We like French food & this restaurant generally seems to get good reviews. I’m not sure whether to book a lunch or dinner here… I’d like to see Remy (if he’s still there!) but he only appears at lunch I believe.. or a later dinner reservation could mean a unique view of Illuminations… decisions decisions!

Menu

I have eaten here once with my family and we had a really memorable meal (back in 2000!), but Steve & I have never been there as a couple. I think the menu looks delicious, and we enjoyed Sanaa on our trip in 2009. It will be nice to return to the Animal Kingdom Lodge too as we stayed there for one night before our honeymoon cruise.

Narcoossee’s

Menu

This was the one restaurant at the Grand Floridian that we didn’t eat at during our honeymoon, so I’d quite like to try it as it’ll mean we’ll get to visit the resort again. We both like seafood, and a late reservation here would mean a lovely view of Wishes (or Hallowishes).

Be Our Guest

BeOurGuest.jpg

I’m not even sure if this restaurant will be open by next October.. but I have it on my ‘maybe’ list just in case! I’m sure the ADRs will be very hard to get if it is open… we’re so excited to see the new Fantasyland as it gradually starts to open next year!
I wonder if the menu will be French inspired or feature items from the movie (‘Beef Ragout, Cheese Souffle, Pie and Pudding on Flambe… !)

So that’s my thoughts for now…. Please let me know what you think of these places if you’ve tried them before!

Everything sounds great! I wonder if Be Our Guest is going to be a Signature restaurant? I'd love to try it if it's open by our trip, possibly on my birthday if I get get an ADR. I'm sure it's going to be tough!

I was thinking about Via Napoli but my clients just got back from there and ripped it so I'm iffy now lol.

Hi! Hmm yes maybe Be Our Guest will be a signature restaurant.. I think it's going to be counter-service during the day and table service for dinner :thumbsup2 .. like La Hacienda is in Epcot (which reminds me, that's another restaurant we're yet to try!!)

That's intersting about Via Napoli.. I think I'd still like to try it, the pizzas look delicious :goodvibes

While doing some Christmas shopping online, I decided to buy a few things to put away for next October’s trip to Disney!

These were in the sale so I had to buy them ;)

Long grey Tinkerbell vest…

IMG_0558.jpg

And a new theme-park bag…

IMG_0559.jpg

IMG_0560.jpg

I’ve put these in a box in my wardrobe to save for the trip. I did this for our last few vacations and it’s a fun way to countdown.. Disney shopping! :cutie:

.......

....

Another thing I’ve been thinking about is… costumes for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!

We already have pirate costumes from the Pirates in the Caribbean night on the Disney Dream, so DH might go as Jack Sparrow; but I wanted to go as something different as I think mine would be too warm in the Florida heat..

My first thought was…

Rapunzel!

But then I thought that it would be me.. and every other little girl dressed as the latest Disney princess.

So then I had another idea… here’s a hint…

Can anyone guess?!

Out of the ADRs you are planning, here are the restaurants I have visited :

Via Napoli : I have read a few not so good reviews for it, but I also have read several amazing reviews. My own experience was BEST PIZZA I've ever eaten!! It was so tasty and juicy without being watery. I'm a huge fan of thin crust pizza, so that might have helped. Ron liked it, just not nearly as much as me. A lot of the bad reviews I've read have been for the pasta dishes, or for a burnt pizza.

Narcoossee's : This was our only so-so bordering on bad experience with a waiter. She was really nice, but it seemed like fake nice (especially according to Ron). She also wouldn't let us order a glass of wine because I forgot my ID and she thought I looked underage (I was 28, but I do look a lot younger). Food wise, the Filet Mignon was incredibly delicious, and Ron really enjoyed his surf'n'turf. We had one of those late reservations, and we were seated next to a window so we got to see Wishes. :wizard:

Oh how I can't wait to hear more details about Be Our Guest!!!

As for your halloween costume, I have no idea. :confused3
