DVC Mike enjoying BLT

Last night, after the DVC Annual Meeting, we went to dinner at O’Hana with Daddio/David, WebMasterDoc/Rob and their wives. It was fun.

This morning, we headed over to the Magic Kingdom and did some rides. I got soaked on Splash Mountain. I didn’t bring the camera, so no photos.

At the DVC Annual Meeting yesterday, there was a presentation by Mark Kohl of Walt Disney Imagineering on the Fantasyland expansion. You can see most of what they’ve built so far by peeking over the wall.

Mike- I know I'm late to the party on this but just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I have Celiac Disease and have pretty rough reactions to gluten as well. My daughter has it too. This is one of the reasons we bought DVC and pretty much only vacation at Disney. They are usually so good about the gluten free thing. In two trips I've had an issue once (not as severe as your wife's) and it was also from Flying Fish. I also know what its like to have a trip affected for a medical emergency because our 2yo broke his leg the day we arrived at BLT for a week last March. Spent a very uncomfortable night at Celebration hospital. Hope your wife got better care there than we did.

Anyway, sorry to hear what you both had to go through and thanks for all the information and pics you provide.

We just got back last night and your pictures are Waaaaaaay better than any I took. LOL. I just got news from DVC.

Welcome Home Fecca Family,

Villas in the works for Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney Vacation Club has announced plans to build an estimated 147 villas as part of the previously announced expansion of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Estimated to open in late 2013 near Disney's Wedding Pavilion, the resort's slated to become the 12th Disney Vacation Club property. :yay:

I can't wait to see how much the points are going to be.

So, we were unable to attend the Merry Member Mixer on Tuesday at Epcot, due to my wife still recovering.

When we got back to our room, we found the note below, along with 2011 DVC Christmas ornament and a limited edition DVC pin they were selling at the mixer.

How nice!

That just doesn't seem to cut it. You lost major time on your vacation because of their life threatening error. It was a terrible experience and a quick note scribbled on a piece of paper does not seem enough. They should at least credit you a couple nights in your villa and add on a few perks. Time is valuable and vacation time is exponentially more valuable.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the lovely pics, highlights from the meeting, etc. I'm so sorry that your wife was sick and you lost some precious time on your trip. Hopefully, you'll continue to enjoy the rest of your vacation. I'm glad you are getting much better weather than we are here in NC. It was only 33 this morning when I woke up!

While I agree that someone at Disney should offer greater compensation...
BLT did not cause this issue. So as a non-responsible party, I think BLT did a really nice thing in this instance:)

We went over to the Grand Floridian and had a very nice meal at Citricos. The swordfish was fantastic.

My wife liked this shot, but I should have used a larger aperture.

Just got done reading the whole thread. So sorry to hear what happened to your wife. Hope she's fully recovered and able to enjoy the rest of her trip. We were there this week too. I'm sorry I didn't go to the meeting. Thanks for giving us the highlights.
Nancy

I snapped a few quick shots of the future DVC at the Grand Floridian as I rode by on the monorail.

Loving the pictures Mike.
My heart goes out to your wife,I know from personal experience (shellfish allergy) how awful your body feels afterwards--it takes a few days just to feel normal again.
Your post was a wake up reminder for me to make an appointment and get that new EPIPEN from the doctors and I think I'm going to get a medic alert bracelet. Two trips ago (solo) I ate chicken nuggets and french fries at Olivias OKW--thought it was safe, only to discover they cook their shellfish in the same oil:scared1:, now I ask and tell them about my allergy.

Hugs and best wishes for a safe Magical trip:wizard:

Since the artist rendering shows 6 stories, I wonder if there will be any castle viewing over the GF skyline?

Based on the plan, it seems unlikely that there will be many Castle views, if any.

Well, we’re at the tail end of another Disney trip. Why does it always have to end?

We had a final dinner at The Wave.

We’re already packed up and we head back home in the early morning – driving back to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Next up – another stay at Bay Lake Tower in early March!

Will you overlap with our trip in March too? We are going to be at OKW March 3-9 before we head down to spring training in Fort Myers.

That sounds like a wonderful time... I have only seen the Astros in Kissimmee on our trips in the past.

I am hoping that you will get to see Kubel and Cuddyer, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that.

OK..whatever your real job is you need to add a part time one as photographer..really...just lovely.

DVC Mike ~ thanks for the pics and esp for the pic of the future DVC site at the GF! I just love looking at the GF when I'm at WDW....now I have to try MK view at BLT just for that view of GF.

Sorry to hear about your wife's hospital stay. DD has severe allergies to egg and milk proteins and we noticed that during our most recent October trip, the chefs gave us inconsistent opinions on what she could eat and what she couldn't eat. One chef (at Akershus) never came back to address the issue and gave her plain pasta noodles (no sauce). My poor baby ate plain boiled noodles for dinner. Ack.

Ooooh! I see a new DVC Contract in our future! We were planning to buy BLT but think we'll hold out for GF....I just love that resort!!!
