Let me have it!! How's the weather? Is it warm enough to swim? Water parks still open or do they close in Oct. for refurbs? Anything else I should know for Oct?? We usually go the beginning of May and are used to wearing shorts and having hot weather.

Usually as month progresses, from the high to lower 80s range, high to lower 60s at night, occassional afternoon to evening thunderstorms, one waterpark open, I believe one closes at some point in that month. Food and wine fest at Epcot, parks are quite crowded but not overwhelming. Just an awful month (if you are a polar bear).

October is one our our favorite months to go to Disney. The weather can vary. Usually it is warm during the day - 80's. It can get cool at night, making it a little uncomfortable for evening swimming. We were there in '09 when it was unbelievably hot. Last month, it was comfortable. We did not take any long pants, but we usually take windbreaker weight jackets and/or sweatshirts for the cooler mornings and evenings.

Our son is too young for the water parks, so I don't know about the hours for those, although the bus did stop at BB, so it was open.

Food and Wine, low points, slightly cooler temps, fall breaks, and MNSSHP make October a VERY popular month. Parks used to be slow, but they've been as crowded as June the past 3 years we've visited in October (and EPCOT is considerably more crowded than it is any other time of the year - including spring break!!!!) Make your reservations EARLY!!!!!!

I agree with the above posts. October is one of our favorite times to go because of the mild (but not too cold) weather, Halloween decorations at MK and the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. It isn't crowded either, low wait times for rides and you can actually get a Fastpass for Soarin' late in the afternoon! They are usually gone by 11 am during December and Spring Break season.

We love going in October. This past year we were there Oct 27-31 and, I must say, this year was the worst weather we have ever had. It rained on us 2-3 days while there which we have never had happen before. But we were able to swim and sit in the hot tub each day. Plus we love MNSSHP and Food & Wine Fest. In fact, we already have our reservation booked for next October!

We were there this past October (5th - 12th) and I thought the weather was similar to our April stays except we had a day and a half of rain. :sad2:

We did get into the pools at BWV in the evening twice while there and enjoyed it very much.

I thought the parks were not too bad as far as crowds are concerned. We enjoyed several Eat to the Beat concerts that were not crowded at all.

We tried the F&W Fest but were not impressed. :sad1: The servings are small and way over priced in our opinion and I wouldn't waste my time or money on them again, but all in all we had a good trip and wouldn't hesitate to go in October again.

Good luck with your planning. :thumbsup2

We have gone two years in a row for October - two different weeks. First time last week of October and we had great, hot/pool weather. (My son the week before us - much cooler).

This past October we went in the middle of the month - barely got one pool day in.

We would be going again next October but we are planning on seeing the Christmas decorations for the first time so will mostly likely book early Dec.

I would go for it!

We have gone every October the past six years. The beginning of the month is hotter, then the end of the month. For the most part, you should be able to swim any time in October......but that is not a guarantee.

The weather can range from hot to light jackets to quite chilly in the evening. The humidity is much less in October and it is my favorite time of year to go to Disney. Food and Wine at EPCOT cannot be beat.

Boy, I'll say it can vary! One year, when I was there, the first 3 days were unbelievably hot. Then a front came in overnight, and the next night I sat at the movies on the beach sipping hot cocoa and covered in a blanket to keep warm. I've gone to WDW the last 3 Octobers-overall it's my favorite month. The latest in the month I was there was October 29th, and I remember taking a train ride at the MK to get a little air movement to cool down. Overall, it's usually plenty warm enough to swim.

I live about 100 miles west of DW. October is what I would say is similar to May in the north east. First 2 weeks is usually pretty hot. Last part of the month can vary from one day hot to one day mild. Not cool. October is still ok to swim in FL especially for people coming from cooler areas for that time of year.
The parks are busy but not horrible IMO.

We're going in the beginning of October next year because this year we were there over the 31st (dates like dvc4life)and didn't appreciate the rain and mosquitoes. We seem to alternate the beginning and end of October, but both times that we were there for actual Halloween, we had rainy cooler weather. If we didn't like F&W so much, we would stick with September!

One thing to be aware of for October is that because of the MNSSHP the MK closes at 7pm for the general public on many evenings. We found it a bit difficult to schedule an evenig with Wishes at the MK during our stay. And the evenings on which there isn't a party tend to be very crowded.

We liked Oct. the year we went a bunch. It was hot but with out all the high humidity. One water park is open all year long, but I believe it is in Oct. that they start alternating which one is open so they can refurbish the other. We love the water parks in the "off" months - they are just not as crowded. We were just there over T-day week with beautiful weather in the 80's and sunny and went to Typhoon Lagoon and had the pick of the park of where to sit and hardly a wait for any rides and plenty of tubes in the lazy river!!

We were there for Halloween week and the kids had so much fun not having to dress in layers under their costumes!

We were just there the last week of October and it was beautiful the entire time. When we buy into DVC, we plan to make Oct. our use year.

it's a horrible time to visit along with the 1st 2 weeks in December!

jk, those time frames are our favorite to visit the world. Apparently, October has become very popular with larger crowds everytime we visit (typically the 1st or 2nd week of the month).

check out weatherunderground for a historical chart of temps for the month, enjoy!
