post-trip blues

We got back last Sunday from our 10 day adventure, we had lots of fun with a few setbacks....but all in all lots of great memories, amazing weather and good times.
We spent 4 nights in a GV at AK Kidani and 6 nights in a BCV 2 Bedroom. I can't believe it's over after all that planning and anticipation! What makes matters worse is that we are not going back to WDW until 2013, probably in the fall...almost 2 YEARS!!!! UGHHH. We used up 2010 banked points, all our 2011 points and most of our 2012 points for our two trips this year. We have other vacations planned in the interim, and next year we are both moving and having a baby so we have plenty on our plate.

Just wanted to vent about our current state of post-WDW depression! Once I get past this I will post some pics and do a real TR. I hope all those going in the coming weeks and months have as wonderful a time as we did.

The only real silver lining is that we discussed adding on a small number of points in 2013! More on that later.....TR to follow....in the meantime, any advice on getting past the post trip blues please let me know!

I so understand the post-trip blues. Honestly, in my experience, the best cure is to begin planning another trip, even if it is almost two years away. Good luck. I'll look forward to your TR.

How was the GV at Kidani? We are coming with 9 people in February and i cant wait. What location where you at and what would you recommend for me? Im glad you had a great time and sorry about your depression. I feel your pain.

The GV itself was fantastic. The size is amazing, we had 10 and it was no problem. My only critique would be that there is no separation from the upper small living room overlooking the lower living area, which is only really an issue at night b/c noise seemed to travel upstairs rather easily. It's also a little awkward if somebody is sleeping on both pullouts and one person wants to watch TV. There should be some sort of partition from the upstairs, maybe a curtain for nighttime. It's not an issue if only one pullout is going to be needed...which might be the case with your group.
The only thing I will suggest is, beg-beg-beg to be closer to the lobby than we were. I honestly cannot remember the room number, but we were in the second to last building on the 4th floor and it took FOREVER. I had to return to the room from the lobby to retrieve a cell phone, and it delayed our departure by 20 minutes. I also recommend getting groceries b/c other than the small gift shop and Sanaa there is nothing. The GV is the nicest room we ever have or probably ever will stay in, especially just the sheer size. It literally felt like it was 4 times the size of the 2BR we moved to at BCV. The windows in the living room are huge, they must be 25-30 feet high and open up to a nice balcony.

No matter where you are, you will LOVE the room--it will have an affect over time if you are too far from the lobby. For some perspective, we were in the last room from the lobby on the first floor of the BCV, room 178. I would estimate that the walk to our GV was at least 3 times as far. This didn't put any sort of damper on our fun, but you have to plan accordingly and it seemed to take a long time to get 10 people out of there b/c everybody kept re-checking to make sure they weren't forgetting anything! Then pushing strollers, carrying backpacks....by the time you get to a bus you are ready to sit down.
Speaking of buses, be thankful you're at Kidani b/c every time we pulled up to Jambo there were 40 people waiting to get on and room for about 20...and many of these folks looked angry. Having the buses come to Kidani first is really nice.

Again, the villa is great. The master bedroom is really nice, as is the master bath. The 4th bathroom was handy too, it's off the front hall area. When you go upstairs you have a small living room with a pullout couch and identical bedrooms on opposite ends, both with nice bathrooms. We did not cook any meals, but I'd encourage you to try if your considering it b/c there is plenty of room. We did have breakfast, cereals etc...every morning.

Thank you! Question, by any chance were you at BC and eating at Cape May with a large group on Tuesday, 11/15? Strange question, I know...but while we were waiting for a table a large group came out and asked me to take a pic of them in front of the Cape May Cafe sign and they commented that they were all from Cape May....

This will be our first GV stay ever so your post made me very very excited. I will make sure to request close to lobby to help with the long walk. I just cant wait. Only 64 more days to go. How were the animals. Did you see a lot out your balcony during your stay?

We put in a request 6 months in advance that was not met. I would make sure at check in that you bring attention to your request. Maybe you will have better luck than we did.
The animals were not great, but good enough. There are so many viewing areas around the resort, and frankly we spent very little time on the balcony. I know it's really hit or miss, so I'm sure our experience is not really representative of what you'll encounter. I did feel like being so far out also played a role in us not seeing as much. The firepit was fun at night, we went there several times and got to see some cool stuff at night.
Enjoy the 64 day countdown, the anticipation is part of the fun!

I had read about those long halls but it's quite another story to walk them several times a day. I thought I had left my cell phone charger one night, after one move - walked all the way back to the front desk to report it to lost and found, then to my car to see if I had packed it in something else, then back to that far away room, where of course I found the charger. Whew, I must have logged about a mile and a half doing all that!

Feeling those blues here too!! And also not going back until 2013 at Christmas - so it is 2 YEARS AWAY!! So totally understand!!

We just got back Tues. from 10 wonderful days at BWV with that great sunny FL weather. We had an awesome stay and I can't complain as we have had three great WDW trips in the past 12 months. But still it feels odd and a bit of a let down that our next WDW trip is over 2 years ago. Reading the Disboards helps those blues along as well as a DVC trip to HHI in June!!!

I agree, when we are on the ME heading back to the airport, our whole family is feeling the blues. The only way that helps us is that we start talking about and planning for our next trip (where we want to stay, what dates, etc....). I completely understand your depression and I would totally feel the same way if I had to wait 2 years to head back to my Happy Place. Glad you had a wonderful time and can't wait to read your TR.
