Dream door damage.

And the point to posting this is......????

Interesting that it was just posted on You Tube today and you happened to stumble across it.

I hope the jerks were caught.

It saddens me to see that people (in this case young men it sounds like) have such a lack of respect for property and other people's things. And then to laugh about it makes my stomach turn in knots. If this had happened to me I certainly would not have followed it up with laughter.... most likely I would have passed out cold on the deck and would have been SICK with nerves the rest of my trip. Accidents can happen by why on earth was there a video camera in use taping the young man going through the door?
How did you stumble upon this? I hope DCL stubles upon it as well.

I think that this should be reported in the same manner as the nitwits on the last PC cruise that were paddling their very own douchecanoe......

It was clearly an accident. You can see the exterior door is open and I have personally experienced how hard the doors can be to open sometimes with the wind load. I seriously doubt the damage was intentional. They were more than likely videotaping how hard the door was to open.

As for the laughter... kids will be kids. We were all there once.

(I shall duck and cover from the incoming fire I will probably get.)

NOTE: I do hope they reported it.

This looks like an e-mail to Karl Holz is in order......again. Where do these idiots come from?

And my DD freaks when her friend spills a beverage cup.:goodvibes

If I can't open a door I assume it is not meant to be opened and I go try another one not stand there and video tape it.

I ran a search on YouTube for the search term of "Disney Dream" and filtered by upload in the last month. There is also a large group of videos that someone shot of the Dream under the user id "retokurmann3"

I agree that it doesn't seem like they broke it on purpose, probably goofing around thinking it was funny about how hard it was to open the door, it had probably slammed a couple times and they thought it would be funny to record it doing it again, then bam!

You can hear them in the video "we should go get somebody" so I'm sure that Disney knows what happened, and who, etc...

Yes it is bad, but teens will laugh at anything, especially when they are nervous. Not something to get your undies in a bunch about :confused3

Again, kids are kids. The door was merely difficult to open. I see no evidence that they caused the damage intentionally. Unfortunate ending and I hope the reported it so the glass could be cleaned up. Coming from over 15-years in the hotel management field (GM with Hilton Hotels) I can tell you these accidents happen. No need to execute the poor kids.

:thumbsup2 Thanks Crystal. I am a huge Disney fan just don't get the rush to judgments. I am sure we have all made our fair share of mistakes when we were in our teens. Ahhh --- those were the days! lol :rotfl2:

Nope. If it had been accidental (which I don't buy) why post it? Look at how the guy was opening the door. Yeah the door getting out of his hands is accidental, but why on earth would anyone open a door THAT WIDE in a wind situation just to go through it? Yep. Judging them.

Is this door safe? What if a child were to walk behind an adult through this door???

There is a lesson to be learned here on behalf of DCL in terms of safety. Glad no one was hurt!

Maybe they were videoing it and opening it to show how intense the wind was?! Just saying. These kids did nothing wrong. They are kids and an accident happened.

Not everyone can be perfect as apparently others are. :worship:

Agreed!! I always thought the doors needed some sort of mechanism to slow them down. My mother came through one once and it almost got away from her and slammed on her. Glad it didn't!! She would have been hurt and some people out there would have been calling for her execution!

How is it not accidental? They didn't toss someone or something through the door. They just 'tested' the tempered glass against wind resistance and it broke. Was it dumb? Yes? But people do dumb stuff all the time, it doesn't mean it was malicious.

If I am not mistaken, didn't the "Captain" of the ship also cause glass partitions to break when he was 'testing the ship' on route to Port Canaveral? Are you going to hold teenaged boys to a higher standard than the ships captain?

I fail to see the comparison of a Ships Captain testing out how a vessel at sea in a storm acts, is on the same level of kids messing with a door and breaking it. What happened to common sense of not messing with a large glass door. Yes they can slam. Happened to me. A door getting away from someone walking through it, isn't likely to shatter the whole door. WHY was it necessary for the kid to force it that far open? Again, dinkin around how he shouldn't have been.

They were pretty "big" teens. And to laugh and run away, and at the end of the tape you can hear one of them say "they're gonna know we did it"....
I don't know, but it spells guilt to me. I've seen other videos posted by kids running around the ship late at night, and they were always up to no good.
