We are driving from NC and will stay in Ormond Beach just for 1 night so we can arrive at WDW early the next day. So many of the hotels seem run down, musty & dirty from all the online reviews I have read. We want to be on the beach or across the road from it. We just need clean, nothing expensive as we won't arrive until dinner time and would just like the kids (9,14,17) to see the ocean before dinner. Would like to have breaskfast included. Help!

My work put me up in the Plaza Ocean Club for a few nights last year. It was pretty decent...not the Ritz, but certainly fits your description. It may not technically be in Ormond Beach, but it's still in that general stretch...

You might look into the Coral Sands Inn (directly on non-driving beach)- call them and see what deal they'll work with you. I've never stayed there, and I don't know how the ratings are, but as a local the complex looks very nice when we drive by on our way to Snack Jacks (beach dining/it's a dive, but we love it) :cutie:

I'm not sure about breakfast being included at the Coral Sands, but there's a McDonalds about 5 mins south at 3001 N Atlantic, Daytona Beach.

Actually there's plenty of close places to eat. If you go south down A1A about 10 mins we like to go to Charley Horse for their all you can eat crab legs, but lately we're stuck on their fried clam dinners (I think they're @$7.95- lots of clams with 2 sides, and yummy). It's kind of a beachy dive too ( hmm, can you see a trend here ) but good food:

Next door to that is a Bonefish Grill, up the street is Peppers Mexican, or over on Granada (Rt 40) there's a TGIF, Peach Valley Cafe, Outback Steakhouse, Starbucks.

And that's just what I can come with off the top of my head

PM me if you need more info:goodvibes

What about the Best Western Castillo del Sol? Has anyone stayed here before? Which would you pick- Coral Sands Or Best Western??

Advice anyone? Best Western Catillo del Sol or Coral Sands???? Or something else. I think I better book soon.

We stayed at the SunDECK last month. It's a little old hotel only has about 20 rooms Trip advisor has it rated the #1 hotel in Ormond beach. It was really nice no mold or mildew no bugs comfy bed with a sofa microwave an fridge. The hotel does not have a pool but it is right on the beach.

No breakfast but there is a Publix right across the street where you can buy stuff for a cheap breakfast.

I live in Ormond Beach.

The nicest place IMO is the Royal Floridian Resort.
They just did a remodel on it last year & it looks quite nice.
It's across the street from a CVS & a Walgreens.
Also across from a TGI Fridays and near an Outback Steakhouse.
Easy to find, straight shot to the beach on State Road 40/Granada from I-95.

OP has your trip started yet? I just wanted you to see this info from the local paper on the seaweed mess on the Ormond beaches right now :scared1::

The sea has been pounding the shore and bringing it up. I remember you posted you would only be there for one night, and hated that you might run into this. Maybe poster travelcoupons who lives in Ormond can advise if it is bad at the hotel you picked - or call your hotel and if if it is, maybe you'll want to cancel for another spot.

Just hate for you & your family to be disappointed! Sorry if I'm too late :flower3:

We recently booked a suite at the Royal Floridian and that's what we are hoping for also. They looked new had very good reviews and got in for $133.00 for the suite with kitchen. Looking for Seafood Restaurants and Fresh seafood to prepare. I hope spring break is not an issue as we are there for three days.
