"One More Waffle!" An October 2011 TR! *Update 4/24, pg 70-The End!*

:woohoo: on being back at Disney World in 16 days!!!

I'm sorry to hear about Brandon's injury but yay on having more time at WDW!

Good luck with the rest of your plans. Happy Thanksgiving - hope you are having a great day and enjoy the long weekend :goodvibes

Oh no, Brandon. :( That stinks. PT is never something fun. However, at least you guys are getting an extra day at Disney. You can never complain about that.

I think it's good that you're sticking with POP. I agree, on such a short trip, I wouldn't want to spend the extra money either. ;)

Yay for an extra day and Boo for Brandon's injury!!!

We have a TIW card and love it!!! We enjoy a lot of TS places though. We don't frequent any CS places when we visit normally.

I am sure you will figure everything out soon! It's quickly approaching!!! :)

Wow, not long now til you are back in Disney. Your plans look great so far :thumbsup2

Great start to your DHS day, your drawing looks really good, well done. You should defo frame it :)

Good for you and an extra day:thumbsup2! Not so good about the injured foot and needing PT, hope he's better soon. I just finished over 8 weeks of PT after a broken wrist and it wasn't fun:sad2:
Have fun planning your days!

Thanks! I hope Brandon gets better soon, I hope the PT helps! He's been going to an orthopedist, but his regular doctor told him to get checked by a podiatrist too, so we'll see how that goes! :thumbsup2

Yay for the extra time!!!!

I've been itching to go see the AK parade but due to my unforeseen sinus infection a few days before I went home, it didn't happen! I'm hoping by next weekend I'll get the time to go!!

I think your AK plans and then MK would work great! Would you get to AK in time to see the parade at 3:45?? If you miss it, it does start and end in Africa so you could see it twice in that location (a good tip there!!!)

Happy Packing!! I'm off to find all my xmas clings from last year to bring back with me on Saturday :)

Yay!

I'm still so undecided on what to do that first day. I feel like I should go to AK, because I'd like to see the parade, but I have this feeling we will end up in Epcot. But if we do go, I will definitely try to find a spot in Africa, thanks for the advice!

I'm having such a hard time finding Disney window clings this year! I found a few at Walgreens, but that's it! And I didn't save mine from last year! I might go on a search today...Black Friday, of all days! :scared1:

im so jealous you get to go again! but you are going to have an amazing time! :thumbsup2

LOL, I'm going to be jealous of your trip next year!

That's great news, Jen.

Thanks, I can't wait! :cool1:

That is great news Jen, but I still think you should stay till Thursday so I could meet you and Brandon. :rotfl: I, unfortunately, have to wait until Wednesday night to leave because we are flying out of BWI. We are trying to have Nick get in a full day of school on Wednesday. So tempting to fly out earlier from PHL but all the flight times STINK!

Thanks! Trust me, if we could stay all week I would, but even adding a day is really pushing it, with the budget and everything. :rolleyes1

I agree, all the flight times are horrible for this time of year, you would think they would be more accommodating but I guess not! We're taking the earliest flight out of Hartford, which I really didn't want to do, because it's at 6:30 am, but the later ones stop in Baltimore and Ft Lauderdale, and I don't want to be bothered stopping and taking off again, I just want to get on the plane and get there! I really hope our room is ready when we get there so we can sleep! :)

After your last update I just don't like you very much:snooty: I want to go to Disney to see all the xmas stuff too. Now, you have another day and a trip in May. NO FAIR!

I looked for xmas window clings when I was out yesterday, did you find any yet?

Well, if it makes you feel better, they're both short trips! Maybe you can go next year for a weekend to see the Christmas stuff!

I saw some Disney ones at the Dollar Tree, but they were from last year. They have some Disney gel clings at Walgreens, which I bought, but I need more, I only have 2! I'm going to go look for some today, I think.

Ooooooh! An extra day in Disney, sounds perfect. You get to go to the Christmas party AND some of the other things you didn't think you'd have time to do on this trip, that's awesome! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear everything you've got planned.

Thanks! I can't wait to go to another MVMCP! :cool1: I'd love to post plans, but I can't figure anything out! The only thing I know for sure is when we are doing the Candlelight Processional!

Sorry to hear about Brandons injury and being out of work for a while, but you cant be mad about an extra day at WDW!!!! :goodvibes I cant believe you are going so soon!!! POP is the perfect place for a shorter trip, heck we stay there for all trips!!

Thanks! I feel bad that Brandon is injured, but hopefully the PT will help. If not, I don't know what more they can do for him, other than surgery, which would really, really suck if that's what ends up happening! :scared1:

I'm so excited to finally try Pop, I think we are really going to like it, I just hope we get a good room location! I got a preferred room, but I'm just nervous we're going to be near a pool, which I don't want! I seriously cannot wait to decorate my window! :woohoo:

Yeah for extra Disney time!!!

I completely understand your dilemma with eating though. I feel the same way about our upcoming March trip AND our November trip. I almost don't want to spend a lot of time sitting and eating when we could use that time to explore more of the parks! It's a tough one!

Good luck and can't wait to hear all about your trip...so close!!!

Thanks!

Isn't it hard making ADR's? You want to eat at all these yummy places, but you don't want to lose park time! It's difficult! You're going in March, that should be fun! Are you going for the Flower and Garden Festival? It starts in March, right?

I just found your TR & loving it so far! And how great that you will be back in just a few days. :cloud9: Not that your DH having an injury is a great thing, but at least you get more Disney time & won't be rushed coming back. :goodvibes We are planning on one of those quick trips in the beginning of February, and that is what I look forward to least - rushing home & back to work!

Anyway, I look forward to the rest of your October TR. :goodvibes

Yay, thanks for joining! :woohoo: I can't wait to go back for Christmas, it's going to be such a great trip! I'm not looking forward to coming home and going to work the next day, but at least I'm only working 2 days that week! :rotfl:

What a beautiful view to wake up to each morning! I love hanging out on the balcony, too, although I usually do it in the afternoons. I can never get myself up early enough to spend any time doing it in the morning. :lmao:

Mmm, once again I am dying to try that carrot cake cookie! I don't even like carrot cake, but it looks so good. Cute "singing in the rain" picture! I have yet to even notice the umbrella while I'm there!

So sorry to hear about Brandon's foot, but yay for an extra day at Disney! I can't believe you'll be there in less than 20 days! :woohoo:

LOL I feel like I was never out on the balcony in the afternoon because of the stupid pool dance parties! It was SO loud! I can't help getting up early, I always try to sleep late, but I'm lucky if I make it til 8:00. :confused3

The carrot cake cookie is so good, but I'm not sure if you will like it if you don't like carrot cake! Although, the flavor is pretty subtle so you might like it. The icing in the middle is what you really taste, it's so good!

I can't believe I'm going back so soon either! I can't believe I actually got Brandon to agree! :yay:

What a lovely morning at DHS! Good call on it being pretty empty! :thumbsup2

I have always wanted to try the carrot cake cookie but I still haven't gotten around to it! It looks amazing though!

Ohh ToT. I totally understand your obsession. It's one of the best. :lovestruc

Hahaha I love your singing in the rain picture! Priceless! :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving!

It was a great DHS morning! I'm glad it was so empty, we got so much done! :cool1:

You have to try that cookie, it's so good! Everything there is really good!

One day I hope we are at Disney at the same time so we can ride ToT over and over together! :woohoo:

LOL thanks, I felt like such a dork taking that picture, even though no one was back there! :rotfl:

Happy Thanksgiving to you too, hope you had a great day! :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Brandon.

poohthanksgiving.gif

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! :goodvibes

OMG I can't wait to go back! I feel like the next 2 weeks are going to drag!

I hope Brandon's injury gets better once he starts his PT, I think he will be starting it this coming week.

Thanks! I am definitely pretty happy to not be in work today! :woohoo:

Oh no, Brandon. :( That stinks. PT is never something fun. However, at least you guys are getting an extra day at Disney. You can never complain about that.

I think it's good that you're sticking with POP. I agree, on such a short trip, I wouldn't want to spend the extra money either. ;)

I wonder what kind of PT they are going to do for a foot injury? You can't exactly lift weights with your toes! We'll see!

I'm excited for Pop, I think it's going to be a fun atmosphere to be in for the holiday season! I can't wait to see the decorated windows!

Yay for an extra day and Boo for Brandon's injury!!!

We have a TIW card and love it!!! We enjoy a lot of TS places though. We don't frequent any CS places when we visit normally.

I am sure you will figure everything out soon! It's quickly approaching!!! :)

Yay, so happy for an extra day! :cool1:

I think I'm definitely going to get a TiW card, because I can use it for this trip and our trip in May, and I think it covers the food court at Pop too, which is nice! :thumbsup2

LOL, I hope I figure everything out! If not, we'll just go wherever we feel like that day, I guess!

Wow, not long now til you are back in Disney. Your plans look great so far :thumbsup2

Great start to your DHS day, your drawing looks really good, well done. You should defo frame it :)

I know, 15 days!! I can't wait! :cool1:

Thanks! I really should look for a frame for that drawing, it's just sitting on my bookcase, waiting for me to do something with it! :rotfl:

I can' believe you are going to be back so soon! Isn't it funny how it always seems to work out like that? Just when you think you'll never go back (I'm over-dramatic!) another trip is planned! You better finish up this TR before you go!

I can' believe you are going to be back so soon! Isn't it funny how it always seems to work out like that? Just when you think you'll never go back (I'm over-dramatic!) another trip is planned! You better finish up this TR before you go!

I can't believe I'm going back so soon either! :scared1: Totally unexpected! I'm actually kind of nervous, our May trip next year might be our last for a while and I'm going to need to be ok with that...not sure how that's going to work out!

LOL, I don't think I can finish this TR up in 2 weeks! I'm still only on 10/1, and we stayed til 10/8! :scared1: I guess I'll just have to have 2 TR's going at the same time when I get back from this next trip!

Well, I can't drink this.

Saturday, 10/1

It feels like I haven't updated this TR in so long, even though it's only been a few days! I think it's because I keep doing little December trip updates in between. I will probably only do one more and then that will be it! I have to try to update this more, I just realized, thanks to Nikki, that I will have 2 TR's going on when I get back from my December trip! :scared1:

Anyway, on to the update...Brandon and I were both ready to go to Epcot after our DHS morning. I wanted to take the boat, but he said no, so we drove. I don't know what his problem is with taking the boat, he loves taking the boat from WL to MK, but whenever I suggest it from Epcot to DHS or the other way around, he refuses! He must know it will take a year to get from point A to point B.

So we drove over and within minutes we were parked in good ol' Discovery 15 and we noticed the parking lot was packed. I'm guessing a lot of people spent their afternoons drinking and then hopped over to MK for the 40th fireworks that night? Not a bad idea, since you can't drink at MK. :drinking1

Pretty soon we were in the park, and I just had to take one of my "this is how I know I'm in Epcot" pictures:

P1000368.jpg

Seriously, every time! If you guys are sick of seeing that, let me know!

We stopped for a minute to listen to the cranberry guys talk about cranberries:

P1000369.jpg

Just in case you don't believe me that they are cranberries, here's a close up:

P1000370.jpg

Ooooh, cranberries!

I have nothing against cranberries, I'm from New England after all, but it just seemed like a strange place to stick a cranberry bog and make these poor men stand out in the sun all day. I wanted to bring them a nice, frozen drink from a F&W booth, but I'm guessing that would have been frowned upon.

So we moved on from those poor cranberry guys and went into World Showcase. Our destination was France. I was craving a Parisian Cosmo slush. Even though I still had a lingering headache from that %#@&*%! Rock N Roller Coaster, I figured it was fine, plenty of people have told me over the years to just drink more when I've had a headache, so what better time to listen, right?

The line to the France booth was crazy. I didn't feel like standing in that line with Brandon, so he waited and I wandered around France while he was in line.

P1000372.jpg

Someday I'll actually go in here, I always seem to stalk it from outside like some creeper:

P1000373.jpg

I sat on the fountain (which was not on, by the way, I don't know why it was off so much during our trip, it seemed to only be on at night!) and waited for Brandon and he finally returned with my slush and some escargot. I took one sip of my slush and handed it to Brandon and said "well, I can't drink this now." My head was hurting a little more, and I was so paranoid of having a repeat of that migraine from the first night, I thought alcohol was a bad choice. Since it was half melted already from it being 10 million degrees that afternoon, Brandon chugged it. :confused3 I told him that's not how you're supposed to drink those slushes, you're supposed to sip! He just shrugged and told me he didn't want to carry around the glass that it comes in.

Once he finished his escargot and my slush, we went back the way we came, to England. Brandon wanted to get a beer from the Rose and Crown beer stand they have outside, and the line was SO long...it went out into the walkway, almost across to the building on the other side! He got in line and I found a bench and just sat for what seemed like forever.

P1000374.jpg

Line for the Ireland booth!

He finally got his beer, and we started walking to Canada, I had to get out of the sun for a little while, so we went in the Canadian shop.

I took my time looking at all the cute things they have in there, and towards the back of the store, noticed these:

P1000375.jpg

Stuffed moose heads! :lovestruc I don't know if you guys know this or not, but I love moose. I want to see one SO bad, I think they are so cute. I really considered getting one of these stuffed heads, but decided against it, I mean, that would be a little strange to have hanging in your bedroom, right?

P1000377.jpg

They also have bears too, which were adorable, but the moose were just too cute.

After we stayed as long as we possibly could in the Canada store, we went down to the gardens

P1000380.jpg

and then to our favorite to check in for our lunch ADR!

P1000381.jpg

I made this ADR on our 180 day mark before this trip, and I never intended to keep it. It was just a back up, if I couldn't get it for another day. But once Brandon found out that I had it, he didn't let me cancel it. So I ended up canceling Artist Point for that night and rescheduling for a different time, so Brandon could go to his beloved Le Cellier. (Ok, who am I kidding, I love Le Cellier too, he didn't get any arguments from me!)

We checked in and only waited a few minutes before we were seated. Since I couldn't drink I got a Red Maple, which is a raspberry smoothie mixed with Sprite. I think I actually said I wasn't going to get the cheddar cheese soup and for a minute I believed myself...but once the server came back to take our orders, the words just came out of my mouth and I got a bowl of it. Not even a cup, a bowl! I didn't want to be stuffed all day, but you can't pass up that soup!

Brandon and I got the same entree, the mushroom filet:

P1000383.jpg

It was so good. :cool1: I seriously don't understand people who say this place is overrated. I guess maybe I haven't had a good steak in my life, because to me, these are some of the best.

Since I feel kind of stupid taking food pics (until I figured out it's a lot easier to take them with my phone than my camera :woohoo:) that was the only picture I got in there. We did have dessert of course, even though again, for a minute, I actually thought I might skip it! I had my Chocolate Moose and Brandon had his S'more and we were seriously stuffed. Remember all the dieting I did before this trip? Totally erased any progress I made in the 3 days I've been at Disney so far.

We were getting kind of tired after all that eating, so we decided it was probably a good idea to go back to WL and nap. I had to be at MK later that night for the 40th anniversary fireworks, so if that was going to happen, we needed to rest a little!

When we got back to our room, this was waiting for us:

P1000384.jpg

Awww, I love those little towel guys! I picked him up and moved him to the dresser, where he stayed all week!

Brandon quickly passed out, seriously, he hits a bed and he's out. Me, on the other hand, it takes a while. Finally I fell asleep...I was tired, but I couldn't wait to get to the Magic Kingdom that night! :yay:

Aw, too bad about the frozen cosmo. It was REALLY good...but I totally understand headaches so I get why you didn't drink it.

I can't WAIT to hear how it was for you at MK that night. I just posted in my TR about that night! Curious to see how yours compares.

:lmao: at Brandon realising taking the boat from DHS to Epcot would take forever. We took a boat from DHS to Yacht Club and it did take quite a long time!

That is a wierd place to have a man stand to talk about cranberries - it sure looks like he could use a drink though you are probably right about it being frowned upon

Love the pics of France and you have to try the bakery - I got a Napoleon from there and it was absolutely amazing :lovestruc

I'm sorry to read that your headache was returning  The stuffed moose heads look pretty - I never visited the shop in Canada but will have to do that on a future visit.

I'm glad you kept your Le Cellier ADR and :rotfl: at ordering the cheese soup again!

I'm sorry to hear about Brandon's injury, but how fun to get an extra day in Disney!!

That stinks about not being able to drink the squishee! Your meal at Le Cellier sounds great though!

Thats exactly how our cosmo slush was...half melted two seconds after we got it :rotfl: sorry to hear that you had a headache and couldn't enjoy it though :headache:

I LOVED Le Cellier...the steaks we had were so good and we would visit again just for the soup and pretzel bread :thumbsup2

I agree, that is an odd place to stick a man with a bunch of cranberries! :lmao: It did look pretty interesting, though.

I think you made a good choice about not drinking the slushie. To me, alcohol = headache, so drinking on top of one doesn't sound like a good idea! Glad you had a good lunch Le Cellier! :goodvibes

Oh Jen - those stinkin' headaches. I get them a lot, so I completely understand. For some reason the Excedrin migraine works really well for me. I do think my headaches come from my neck.

You lunch looks so yummy. I love a good Le Cellier lunch, but I hear ya on being stuffed. I am going to try to make an ADR there for my Brother and SIL for our June trip. I think I will be in Disney then, so I need to remember to do it there.

You got some beautiful pictures.

Brandon chugging a slush - Oh My! :rotfl:

I can't WAIT to hear how it was for you at MK that night. I just posted in my TR about that night! Curious to see how yours compares.

I was so upset I couldn't drink that slush! I had one the year before and I've wanted one again ever since! I never even bothered trying to get one again the rest of the week, either! :confused3

I can't believe your experience the night of the 40th at the fireworks! My night was nothing like that! :rotfl:

:lmao: at Brandon realising taking the boat from DHS to Epcot would take forever. We took a boat from DHS to Yacht Club and it did take quite a long time!

Yeah, I've heard the boat from DHS to Epcot or the resorts takes a while...I just really want to do it at least once!

I really need to try something from the bakery in France someday. The Main Street Bakery also!

It wasn't a bad headache, like the first night, it was just there, more annoying than anything, I just didn't want to risk it turning into something else! :scared1:

Mmm, I love Le Cellier! I keep checking to see if an ADR will open up for our December trip, but nothing so far! :confused3

I'm sorry to hear about Brandon's injury, but how fun to get an extra day in Disney!!

That stinks about not being able to drink the squishee! Your meal at Le Cellier sounds great though!

LOL, I know, I feel bad that he's so hurt, but it kind of works out!

Haha, squishee! They make those look so good on the Simpsons, they seem like they are so thick! :rotfl: Le Cellier was fantastic, as always! :thumbsup2

It was so hot, those poor slushes didn't stand a chance! :rotfl: I was upset that I couldn't drink it, but I'd rather not have a headache!

Isn't that soup the best? I wish you could get it to go! :cool1:

I agree, that is an odd place to stick a man with a bunch of cranberries! :lmao: It did look pretty interesting, though.

I think you made a good choice about not drinking the slushie. To me, alcohol = headache, so drinking on top of one doesn't sound like a good idea! Glad you had a good lunch Le Cellier! :goodvibes

Haha, I felt so bad for those cranberry guys! I hope they got to enjoy the Food and Wine festival a little when they weren't educating people about cranberries!

Yeah, I have to be kind of careful about when I drink alcohol...if there is any chance of me getting a headache, I don't even bother. :confused3 I'm sure there wasn't much alcohol in that slush, but I didn't want to take the chance!

Oh Jen - those stinkin' headaches. I get them a lot, so I completely understand. For some reason the Excedrin migraine works really well for me. I do think my headaches come from my neck.

You got some beautiful pictures.

Brandon chugging a slush - Oh My! :rotfl:

I like Excedrin Migraine, but it only works if I take it right at the beginning of a migraine. The headache this day was from the RnRC, so it wasn't too bad, I think I took some Advil and by the time I woke up from my nap at WL it was gone! I don't know where mine come from...it's annoying! I'm sure one huge reason is because I never wear my glasses. :rolleyes1

I don't really like eating at Le Cellier in the middle of the day, it's so filling, but I like the lunch menu way better than that new signature menu. I need those cream cheese mashed potatoes! Hope you get your ADR's!

Haha, yeah, all because he didn't want to carry around that cup! :rotfl:

That stinks that you got another headache and couldnt drink your slush!!!

Those stuffed moose heads look adorable! I don't see anything wrong with having one ;)

I LOVE Le Cellier! We always ask for only pretzel bread lol and their steak is delicious!!!

I love towel animals!!! :) That elephant was too cute!

Jen, so sorry your headache was lingering from RnR (this is the reason I do NOT ride it anymore), and so sorry you could not drink your Slush. Those booths looks way crowded (I'm not sure I could deal with that just for food).

Looking forward to the 40th anniversary update.

Yay on your extra December day, but I hope Brandon can handle all the walking okay with his foot injury!

I'm so excited to finally try Pop, I think we are really going to like it, I just hope we get a good room location! I got a preferred room, but I'm just nervous we're going to be near a pool, which I don't want!
For what it's worth, we were in the Tramp building on our last trip, a few doors past Tramp, facing the bowling pin pool (4th floor). I believe that we were just a few doors down from the preferred rooms (other side of Tramp). I don't recall there being much pool noise, plus, depending on your December weather, it may be pretty quiet. However, I took a walk around the 4th floor of our building and realized that the back half was beautiful and private and quiet. So, see if you can get (or request) something facing opposite the bowling pin pool (towards the lake), since I'm sure many of those are preferred rooms. We could even see Spaceship Earth and Tower of Terror from some of the areas! The wing that juts out towards the lake seemed like a good place to be (unless there is construction noise from the new suites, but I didn't hear anything)!

I think I'm definitely going to get a TiW card, because I can use it for this trip and our trip in May, and I think it covers the food court at Pop too, which is nice! :thumbsup2
Just wanted to confirm that, yes, the Tables in Wonderland card works at the Pop food court. Just remember to use it! (for some reason, we found it harder to remember it when we weren't sitting down for a meal). Also, it's great to have if you plan on getting any drinks or appetizers at TS restaurants. We used it for our Year of Disney and it way more than paid for itself. Also, don't forget that they automatically include tip when you use it (we accidentally double-tipped the first time we used it).

Sorry you didn't get to drink your Cosmo Slush because of the headache! Those moose heads are super cute! You definitely need to check out the France bakery sometime! I think I had that smoothie at Le Cellier once too...I think it was pretty good. Can't wait to hear about your MK night for the 40th!
