BLT- what does standard view face?

I have a friend checking into BLT on an RCI exchange. I would imagine they will get a standard view. It is a 1 bedroom. What exactly do you face?

Usually a lower floor. In a standard room on first floor for a week in Oct. Loved it. No elevator, walk out sliding glass doors to pool, contemporary etc.. You just don't face the Magic Kingdom or the Lake. I have stayed at a couple of views now and prefer the lower point count and location of the standard room. Just not a lot of them available.

I would actually guess they will have a lakeview which means they could be looking across the building into rooms or looking nstraight out at the lake or if they get an even numbered lakeview room they would be looking at the boat dock at the CR or could be in one of the rooms with a side view of the MK.

There are few standard view rooms and they are normally booked by members many months out so I doubt that would be an exchange room.

Our Standard View was on the first floor and was a view of the marina. I didn't mind the view but wished we were on the second floor instead. I just don't like the first floor.

Since there are very few Standard Views at BLT, I would suspect the exchange would be for a Lake View. Lake View makes up approx 70% of BLT rooms, Theme Park View is approx 20% and Standard View approx 10%.

As to what rooms have what view, see this thread:

really agree your friend probably has a lake view.

you can look out on the lake view from some rooms (even number) you can see Epcot's fireworks on the south part.

on the north part you can (if you are luck) see the fireworks from MK. (this is only in even number rooms.

if you get odd number rooms you are in the courtyard area and mostly you see other guests rooms.

Becuase I am cheap on points I have been waitlisting for a Standard Veiw in Jan since the 7 month window. I booked the Lake View but would like to save the few extra points. Thinking there is not allot of them.

They are about 10% of the resort rooms and last time we were there DVC was still using some of the standard view rooms for a sales area. The last time we checked into a studio there were only 2 coming into service that day from someone else leaving.

does anyone think it's likely that they could request and odd room number? or do RCI inbounds get the bottom of the barrell?

We had a standard studio the first month they were opened. We were assigned a 1st floor room, and we were right by the bocci court, and could see the trees surroundiing the pool. We could not see the lake. The location was fine. Quick walk to the pool and an easy elevator ride up to the 5th floor to use the walkway to the Contemporary 4th floor.

As a BLT owner, I bought here just to be able to book standard rooms. I've stayed in a standard room twice now. (a 2 bedroom Nov 2010 and 1 bedroom Aug 2011). The 2 bedroom was second floor over the community center facing the courtyard and my view was a couple of HUGE trees that pretty much blocked any view whatsoever. My second standard (which I did request the higher floor near the tennis court area -- which I got None of my request). I was on the opposite side, ground floor facing the marina. Though I could not see the marina as the high grasses blocked any view....we tried to see the night parade by could not from our patio....we had to walk over to the dock area. So having standard is great for saving those points, but if view is important, don't count on having one. There are actually one or two rooms where you might get a glimsp of MK, but I think we all request them, and we all can't have them. Keep in mind that we always manage to find lemons in any of our not so great room views. Our last one was on the ground floor, but we were just steps away from the back door that took us straight to the pool gate. Plus since it was ground floor, my 2 granddaughters didn't fight every day on who was going to push the elevator buttons.

try to request even number rooms on north side - and see what you get.

part of your problems is there are very few 2-bedrooms that are standard. really surprised with the 1-bedroom you do not get what you want. think it was facing the tennis courts. although many of the standard rooms can see it - only think a few are actually facing it.

also with BLT (at least for now) did not do the automatic confirmation - this is one place that requesting when you get there can really help.

Yes, after seeing the tips here on the boards I did request North side even number room, higher floor. (I was told by the CM that the rooms actually go to the 5th floor on that side). I got only my first request....even number room and was ground floor facing the Marina. We actually liked the location of the room. This was my actual 3rd stay at BLT (the other room was Lake view -- looking at the pool). So even number was my most important request because I had been odd twice. So I did get one of my request. I also did not do online checkin in the hopes that I would get my request...no such luck for me. Strangely my family actually said in the future they would prefer the odd number rooms because they liked the layout better and felt it was roomier....:confused3.....We never used the island in the even number room and we liked the laundry rooms in the odd number rooms. It was a great storage area!

BLT Standard views are all the rooms on the first and second floor. Thus, they can face out toward anywhere where other rooms do and you can have an MK view although those having MK view will mostly be looking at the parking lot when that low in the building.

I doubt they stick all exchanges into the resort from RCI in the standard view rooms. More likely many of those will get Lake View which is about 69% of all rooms.
