crowds from a member point of view

Hi Everyone,

I tend to go on and on for a simple question so without going into why....

How busy from a members point of view will the week from Nov 9, 2012- Nov 17,2012 be. The observation of the Veterans Day is Monday the 12th, and Thanks giving will be Thursday the 22nd (after our departure for home)?

F&W
Thanksgiving following departure

This year Veteran's Day co-insided with the last weekend of F&W and that Friday night there was no availabilty reported (I tried for the day but didn't bother with a waitlist so I don't know if they came through) at 4 months out for any unit.

We generally arrive the Sunday before Thanksgiving and crowds are ramping up again then but not nearly as bad as Thanksgiving and after.

Thursday Nov. 8th is the 1st day of the NJ teacher conventions. So all NJ schools will be closed that Thursday and Friday.

I just got back from being there Nov 4-13. From Thursday [Nov 10] through Saturday [Nov 12], every park I visited seemed packed - DHS, Epcot, and MK. A friend was in AK on the 12th and said it was pretty slow. I still didn't have to wait long for most rides but always felt as if I was traveling en masse everywhere I wanted to go. That's not too bad for adults but not so great for children.

The weather was mostly perfect and I don't know that I wouldn't go back during that time but I would hit Epcot and MK earlier in the week and do more resort-hopping on the weekend.

I just got back from Nov 11-13, staying at BLT. On Nov 11, we went to Downtown Disney and MVMCP and on Nov 12 to Food and Wine. It was very crowded at all three locations. Although the MVMCP was sold out, we were able to do what we wanted. It was just DH and me so we didn't do character greetings. We were able to see the shows, the parade, go to the Wishes Dessert Party, the fireworks, and see the castle lights. Only had time for a couple of rides. Downtown Disney was packed. We ate a late lunch, around 2 p.m. at Earl of Sandwich, and waited in a long line. The people in line in front of us said they had tried to come earlier and the line was out the door! Food and Wine was nice for the first couple hours, starting at 11 a.m., but as the day wore on it got really busy and there were long lines at each stand. To me, it seemed just as crowded as Thanksgiving. I will say, the crowds in general were polite and we had a good time. However, we were also there around Labor Day and found the crowd level much lower, plus we could take a pool break in the afternoon, so that's probably when we will go back.

Jersey Week + Veteran's Day + end of Food & Wine = busy.

I've seen a number of posts this week about how crowded it has been.

Also back from a trip that spanned Nov. 5-13. The Thursday, Friday and Saturday were as busy as our June trip this year. It was not miserable but we were limited on what we could do. Also, if you weren't an early riser, you were in big trouble. Fastpasses were running out very quickly.

We've been here since last Wed., and the week end was extremely crowded. The bus lines Friday night from MK to AKL were the worst I've ever seen, and we waited for over an hour. We gave up and left EPCOT Sat. when it became almost impossible to walk. Sunday was nice at Hollywood Studios, and we were able to do most of the things we wanted to do. Then Monday was very crowded at AK. I thought I had picked a good time in Nov., but I'll never come again when F&W is ending, Jersey Week is going on, and Veteran's Day. We took off a day today and stayed at Jambo House, but tomorrow we're going to try EPCOT again.

Dee we have been to the World four times over Thanksgiving. We would arrive the Thursday before Thanksgiving Thursday....and the parks were not bad until about Tuesday. We usually leave the day after Thanksgiving.

Thanks Denise. The older kids are only coming for the long weekend, due to college schedules, so I really don't want them spending the time fighting crowds. Although, it would be better for the wonderful sport of relaxing and people watching that we so enjoy with our dvc membership. But, I'm not sure that is what the college kids want to be doing. I think they may be thinking Jelly Rolls, etc.

We are thinking about Nov 3-13 next year. The F&W festival ends on 11/11 next year. I really loved the weather last year. It was perfect! There are so many factors and I'm always trying to pick the perfect week but in the end they are all great at Disney!

We did these exact days and edk35 is exactly right We actually had a better MK day on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving than the Monday. Apparently the word on the street is to avoid MK on Mondays (so true!) Other than that, the parks were good.

HI! I remember the correspondence, but I am trying to remember your name... Becca? (I tried to cheat, but had deleted my old pm's.hehehe). I would love to hear how it goes this year compared to last.

DH has said to just bite the bullet, for next year. If we go expecting it to be busy that weekend and plan for it, we should be okay. I just feel bad for the older kids and some friends that may be joining us for just the weekend.

We just returned Friday. We were there Nov. 13 (the day F and W ended) and stayed until the 18th. We walked on everything except Soarin'! The gap between Jersey Week/Food and Wine and Thanksgiving is wonderful! Best trip we've ever had for crowds and transportation.

We were staying at BWV. We also followed Touring Plans crowd calendar for which park to do which day. Worked like a charm!

the 7th-12 and it was incredibly busy. I thought it was summertime!

We managed our fastpasses pretty well and ate at a lot of counter service places with relatively short wait times.

We are going back the same time next year!

You should be ok from the 11th to the 17th. Jersey crowds will leave on the 11th & Thanksgiving crowds will start to arrive on the 17th. We've been twice during that week and it's been wonderful crowd-wise. We've had temps anywhere from 60-85.

Looks like it's going to be the 9th-17th. That means 2 weeks to reserve the dvc room(s).
