Beautiful property, friendly staff and Shutters had really good dinner and breakfast options. Oh and the bar was literally around the corner from our room. I mean how convenient :rotfl:. Our view of the ocean was amazing. I called the morning we were leaving to see if maybe we could upgrade to an ocean view fully not expecting it. But luckily we got it! Was worth the extra points for sure! The resort was not crowded at all. Shutters was pretty much empty when we dinned there. The pool had tons of open chairs and plenty of room to swim about. We really had a great time and can't wait to go back after our cruise next November. The only complaint I have is the dang ants! It certainly didn't ruin our getaway but I did call down to front desk to let them know they were all over the room. They said they would send someone right away but no one showed up. I told them when we left so they could fix it for the next person. But I doubt it will do any good as a quick search on Disboard showed me that the ant problem has been around for years. Oh well. Next time I will bring my own spray for the room  We did go out to Waldos at the Driftwood Inn. Very impressed with this place. Food was good and priced well and eating right on the water outside was very romantic!

Glad you had a great time. My wife and I were there in July. No problems with ants then, just mosquitoes. Does the Green Cabin Room still have live music? Thanks for the pictures.

What a wonderful view! I've an OVIR booked for 6 nights in January!

Yeah they still have the music. Think it was on Wednesday night, naturally the day we leave. :rotfl:

We've been to VB countless times, though the last was probably 4 years ago. We've never had a problem with ants. I'm wondering if the beach renovations (multiple over the last few years) hasn't brought in some new creatures with all the sand imported from other places. Hopefully, nature will return things to normal.

Glad you had a good time nonetheless. :)

We loved VB we have 1 night prior to our cruise on the Dream in Jan. We like the gift ship and they have Chamilla too.

I've owned for about 10 years and have always had ants in the Inn rooms, but not in the studios.

They are little teeny sugar ants.

Thanks for posting I have just booked 3 nights at VB for June. I love the sound of everything apart from the ants!

I'm with Rob.....stayed at VB every year since 2008 to the present (usually in May or Aug). Never had a ant or other bug issue. But enjoyed your photos and glad you had a nice time :thumbsup2

I love VB as well but the last time I was there on my last day by the pool I got chowed by some kind of no see um bug.Big bites all over my legs when I got home that nite.I love the ocean but still don't understand why we have to pay for an unbrella and chairs?
Also have done the kayak down the Indian River Twice and both times we saw many dolphin and the manatees come right up to the kayaks and are able to touch them. This tour is well worth it if you have time.

We stayed here for the first time two years ago and fell in love with it too. We did have a small issue with ants.

We don't rent an umbrella and chairs. We go to CVS and purchase them for ourselves. It is cheaper over the course of a week and we prefer to be near the water on the sand. The rentals are a ways away from the water. The last 2 years we have shared them with other families we met on the DIS. Three weeks ago, we didn't have a DIS family to pass them on to, so on our last morning, we found a family on the beach from near KC who were so excited and overwhelemed by our offer. They wanted to pay us, but we just told them to share them forward.
If the resort needed to provide and maintain the loungers, cushions and umbrellas, all of our dues would go up. I am happy that those who want them can rent them, and those who do not want to rent have other choices.

Just got back ourselves and had a great time. We didn't have any ants in our room....just saw alot of them around the plants at the pool.

Stayed in a BC three years ago and ants were a problem in the kitchen area. Nothing to stop us from going back though.
