By the way, your PTR title is something I should have used for mine. the "wishing a year away" Yes, that is what I did... and I am not quite sure how...but my wish certainly came true. Course... maybe I do know how the year has flown by... been a pretty hectic year. Ah... we will just go with my wish being fulfilled.

You certainly did have a busy year! Not too surprising that it went so quickly!

Yay for almost being able to book!!!!!!

I know! Ben has sent an alarm in his phone so we don't forget. I don't think that's a problem.

I know what you mean! I can't believe it's already a week after Halloween! And true to form, Christmas music started playing at Walmart on Nov. 1st!

I have a lot to do for the rest of the year as well! (Which is fine with me!) I have two weddings, one trip, and the holidays (and baking for the holidays) to keep me busy!

haha I feel the same way about the "early" holiday spirit! I really love Christmas music and Christmas movies, so it's all good for me (I always look for a good reason to watch the Santa Clause and Elf!) DH can't stand it! He is a bit on the scrooge side! hahaha I'm going to have to get him more into the holidays!

Neither trip is booked yet! Still waiting on Mark for the May one, and we can't book our October trip till Sunday. But that's less than a week away!

I am itching to plan for May, so I can't wait to get dates...

Time is still ticking along. We can book on Sunday, so that is the short-term goal that is keeping me sane right now

Ben and I spent Sunday at Old Sturbridge Village and had a BLAST! It was actually a little Disney-like in the sense that it is a super well themed place. Neither of us had been since we were little and weren't sure what to expect. Between checking out the old buildings and talking to the 1830s folks who inhabit the village, we spent several hours.

A few pictures of our day:

This was the potter. He was great! A little girl helped him make a pot, it was so cute to watch! All of the trades people were very informative and fascinating. The shoe maker, blacksmiths, cooper (barrel maker), there was also a house in which a real meal was being cooked and we talked to the folks about the cooking methods and food choices as they were eating.

This is the OSV version of a Segway tour

The stilts were TOUGH!

We took this picture because the door blended into the building. And Ben thought I blended into it, too.

Ben didn't see why he'd have to watch his head.

These little cow-guys (who were actually steer, I think) were lovely. I was smitten.

The tinner (as in the guy who works with tin) was the last shop we visited. He was super informative and so, so nice! He was making candlestick holders, and as we left, he gave me one!

(We checked on the way out and these were $8 in the gift shop )

Another highlight of the day was the delicious hot apple cider and snicker doodle cookies. SO GOOD!

We ended the day with an amazing dinner at the Publick House. I'd highly recommend both of these things if you find yourself in Massachusetts

Aww, Old Sturbridge Village! My parents dragged my sister and I there a couple of times when we were kids, and lets just say, we didn't exactly appreciate it then! I'd love to go again, it looks like fun!

Our home resort is Bay Lake Tower, so that is where we can book 11 months out. We'll try to switch to Boardwalk Villas when the 7 month non-home resort booking opens!

Sturbridge Village was awesome. Ben and I were fascinated by the 18th and 19th century buildings and customs. Pretty much every kid we saw didn't want to be there. If I were a parent (which thankfully to my potential children, I won't be! ), I'd leave 'em home and go check it out myself!

Old Sturbridge Village looks cool...I love stuff like that! I lived in Virginia for a few years and was forever haunting places like Monticello, Mount Vernon, Appomattox Courthouse, and Olde Williamsburg. Good times!

The best part was the 'costumed interpreters'. Everyone was so knowledgeable and eager to share information about the time they 'live' in.

Can I just have a teensy-weensy little vent, please?
I manage the Facebook page for my work, and most of the time it's just a way for me to highlight upcoming events, or other things going on. Once in a while, someone will post a question on the wall of the page that really doesn't/shouldn't be public. Instead of ignoring these, I'll post something asking them to email/call with their question.
Sometimes people are just downright MEAN! They get to say whatever they want because they are just typing away and don't seem to care that there's someone reading/responding to this on her own time and is honestly offended or hurt by what they write. And of course, I have to remain professional and polite and just sit here seething. Grrr. Why can't I retire yet, exactly?

Im sure running a fb page for your job can be very frustrating!! I'm sorry to hear that it's causing you such a headache!!

That's true... wish I had picked a less expensive hobby than traveling to Disney! But I guess it's worth putting up with the occasional nasty comment. It's not all bad; a client told me today that I am "fabulous", and another said he loved me. Not in like, a weird creepy way, but in a 'thank you for helping me with this problem' kinda way,

Yay, glad you got our costumes! Only a few people got it when we were out and about, but it is still my favorite costume to date. Though I already know what next year is going to be-- hope it tops this year!

haha Yes, that is very true!! It's a lot easier to take people's attitudes/rudeness when you are being compensated for it! haha
At my job, I just have to keep telling myself, "it's not me they are mad at..it's the situation." but it sure can seem like they are mad at me!

Yeah! We're going October 2012 as well. Already booked the trip, as we wanted a Magic Kingdom view in the Contemporary. Lifelong dream for both of us. Went on our honeymoon and will celebrate our 30th anniversary at Disney next year. I haven't been back since, and H only went with S on a father-son graduation trip seven years ago. Epcot had just opened up when I went, so looking forward to many more countries, HS, AKL!, and many restaurants. A couple's romantic week of fine dining on the Deluxe Dining Plan. And so looking forward to Food and Wine! Hoping to catch some awesome concerts at Eat to the Beat and taste a variety of food at the kiosks. Can't wait to walk downstairs to the monorail and explore the park! Can't wait to take a boat from park to park or to resorts, wherever we can. We love being on the water! Looking forward to reading everyone's pre trip planning and getting and sharing tips! Have a great year getting ready for your trip!
