own snorkel equipment

have you ever brought your own snorkel equipment and did you pack or carry it on the ship??

We brought our own snorkle equiptment as did many others! Disney does require that you wear one of their yellow life vests...but thats free of charge! We packed it in our luggage...no problems what so ever!

I am always so afraid something will get lost that i desperately need.

I may have to find a way to fit it in my carry on.

I have flown with it in my luggage and will again in a couple weeks. The only thing we do carry-on is DH's mask as it is Rx and cannot be easily replaced.

I packed mine in the suitcase (checked) because the flippers were so big. I have a large Lego bag from a previous WDW trip I put them in to keep the sand out of the rest of my clothes. I figure I save $25 per set I bring to Castaway. My set was $50-60, so I have paid for it many times over.

If you have your own mask & snorkel but not flippers, will CC rent just flippers? If so, do you know how much it would be?

We brought ours and packed it in our checked luggage. We had no problem getting it from the airline or on the ship. Even though I'd picked it out of the luggage line up, it accidently didn't get picked up by our porter when we left the ship though and Disney shipped it back to us later that week. Oops.

I prefer using my own equipment. My husban'd mask is prescription so he has to have it. My feet are odd sized (as in one foot is larger than the other by close to a full size) so knoing my fins won't fall off is a + in my book.

We brought our own snorkel and mask and used CC vest and flippers. This way we knew we had a good fit for our masks and I like the idea of using our own snorkel. And it gives you more room in your luggage if you don't bring everything.

Yes CC will rent only fins. Somtimes though not very often they just give them to you (Theyve done it once for me, but that was the only time Ive asked for a set. I bring all of our own gear, including the snorkel vest) but Ive heard that the price for fins only is either 15 or 25 dollars.

Thanks. But I thought it was $25 to rent mask, snorkel and fins. Charging $25 for just the fins doesn't really make a lot of sense.

I've never placed any of my dive equipment in a carry on, and normally I'll take it all (except for tanks and weight belt), I've never had a problem. I do think it's smart to keep a Rx mask with you.

Youre right 25 is for the entire set. I think its 15 for the fins only. If not its pretty close.

I've travelled with my snorkel gear in the checked baggage all over the world and have never lost anything (and if my suitcase got lost I'd miss my clothes much more than my snorkel gear).
I can't imagine using a rented snorkel, it wouldn't be a relaxing snorkel experience for me...
