August 10, 2013 Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy

How should we split the FE?

  • Split the FE list in half (2 groups 22 - 26 staterooms)

  • Stick to the idea of a headcount (3 groups (14/15 staterroms)

Hi!

We just booked this cruise! Thought why not start a cruise thread to count down to our summer 2013 vacation! :thumbsup2

We, that are my dear brother, Tom, who works for the Austrian Postal Services and LOVES everything Disney and myself, Karin, a teacher at a small Austrian village.
Before we took our first cruise we were sure that this would be a one time thing, but like everything else at Disney, the service was so outstanding that this will be cruise no 10 in 5
seasons! :lmao:

Looking forward to get to know many of our fellow cruisers! :flower3:

I would also like to host a Fish Extender Exchange. We have done it every cruise, it is SO much fun and I hope many of you will join in.

:rainbow: Important news for FE participants! :rainbow:

Our list is constantly growing, so we have decided that once we reach our cut off date, which will be June 30th, we will divide the group into smaller groups. This should work like this ......

Groups will have around 50 people in it (adults AND children)
Groups will be divided by decks close together (to save on running around) wherever possible
If you want to be in more than 1 group please just let me know, so I can put you on all/1 other list.
Hope this is in everyones interest! :thumbsup2

So, do you want to join our Fish Extender Exchange?

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Have a great cruise!

Karin, I am going to sub here too! Although terrified of deep water (the ocean any deeper than the shore :rotfl:) and heights (even looking at a Disney ship makes me tremble with fear!)...wow, what a sentence...:rotfl: ANYWAY...a Cruise is on my list of Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone Adventure. I must be certifiable.:upsidedow

Soooo....if I ever get the coruage, it absolutely must be with friends, so what better than a Crusie with lots of Dis friends - especially two special ones.:goodvibes

Figure it is a good idea to follow your Cruise PTR's and TR and maybe one of these days, I'll book. :scared1:

:dance3:

Karin I knew you would start a thread for our 2013 cruise! Count me in along with my DH Mick!:woohoo:

subbing I think for the first time:rotfl2:Karin I can't keep up with 2 TRs let alone how many you have :rotfl2:

Hi Rosie!
I am glad you join us on this adventure of planning and talking about our upcoming cruise as well, even though I doubt you will be joining us, or will you? ;)

Hi Christine!
Maybe we can talk you into cruising with us as well - more than 650 days of persuading left! :lmao:
Even though I know that you don't feel alright with the deep water I am sure you would LOVE DCL! :thumbsup2
They are the best ...... protected by pixie dust and Captain Mickey in charge of the ship (sort of). :rotfl2:

Karin I knew you would start a thread for our 2013 cruise! Count me in along with my DH Mick!:woohoo:

I knew you would join, Teri! Welcome home to DCL!

Are you going to join our FE exchange as well, Teri? I don't know if you have done them on your previous cruises, but they are SO much fun, even for us grown up kids. ;)
I really really hope you'll get in on the fun! :thumbsup2

Karin I will consider doing the FE since we are on a 7 day cruise. On our previous 4 day cruises we didn't think there was time to fit it in. Our Dream cruise was over before we knew it, because we stayed so busy. :)

Being hesitant I figure this will be your first time doing FE? Let me tell you, you will LOVE it, even on a shorter cruise.
We always found so many places we would NEVER have gone to, without sneaking around the ship delivering gifts. :thumbsup2
Let me know if you want to be in ..... (I really hope you will join us!)

Karin - best way to find out info about this Cruise?

What do you want to know, Christine? There is info about the itinerary on the Disney site www.disneycruise.com
If you have any other questions maybe I can help? :goodvibes

EVERYTHING???? :rotfl: It's hard to get a real feel for it reading the site...I REALLY want to try a new adventure, one that pushes my comfort level, but could be fun. Honestly, I am terrified of a Cruise and could not be in a stateroom alone - that would be too scary.:scared1: So, I'd have to come up a with a roomie.

And as afraid as I am of height and water, would want a Veranda. So far, all I know is that to best ward off sea sickness book a cabin mid ship, not too high, but definitely not low (I am very prone to motion sickness). Just thinking about the ship's movement makes me a little nauseous.:guilty:

I know this thread is for those who are already booked, but hope you don't mind if I silently follow along in the hope to learn more. :goodvibes

(Okay - Fish Extender are cute, but I have the arts and crafts talent of a knat...maybe it has more.:confused3 ;))

Mid ship would be perfect to work against seasickness. We always have a midship stateroom, but we tend to go for the highest deck (deck 10 on the DREAM). To be honest, I could not feel the ship move (not counting the two hurricanes we had to avoid on board) once it was out on the open water. I had a feeling of it "moving" in port though. :confused3 :rotfl2:

But just my two cents of advice ....... I would not start my "cruise life" with a 7 night cruise. Why don't you look into a three night one, or even better a 4 night cruise? Would give you a feel if you like cruising and you would only be out on the open sea during the day for one day (4 night cruise).
Otherwise you spend your days in port (no deep water) and sleep (and eat) through the deep water time. :goodvibes

You do not need to be crafty for a FE, Christine, and I would really recommend signing up for one. They are the ultimate fun and you can always get your presents at a Dollar store or shop online. As for the FE itself, you can always get one on ebay or etsy ;). But I guess before you thing about FEs you should find a cruise that suits you! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much, Karin. No Cruise will suit me unless friends are cruising too! :rotfl:

So sorry I hijacked your thread - did not realize it was for those who would be ON the Cruise..thought it was a PTR.:thumbsup2

You are VERY welcome here, Christine! Even though this is a cruise meet thread, it's also for friends to hang out! :goodvibes

As for a cruise with friends ....... what about the August 29 cruise we are taking in 2012? I am sure you'll find a roommate! What about Sophia? ;)

 Aw, you're so sweet! Sophia's mama would never let her go away without her yet...especially on a cruise. I will definitely look at August 29th...will check your PTR for the details! Great suggestion! :teeth:

Hi Karin,
My family of five, me, DH, Ds (7), Ds (5), and DD (4) would like to participate in the fish extender exchange.

This will be our second Disney cruise. Our kids really enjoyed the FE exchange last time, so I thought we would join a group again.

Thanks for starting this thread. We are very excited to be going on another Disney cruise.

Tina
