Hubby got a Camera & I got Christmas!!! 51 Chapters Completed!! 926 Pics!

Hi Michele!!! You're not late.....I'm just getting started!!

Woo Hoo Janelle!!!!! I can't wait!! Did you get my message about doing the tour?? I think it would be a great way to experience the holiday things....especially in a short time frame!! Let me know what you think!!

Yes I did, I forgot I didn't reply back. I probably won't do the tour this time around...not with having just one day in the parks. We are so limited on time and I don't want to feel restricted or anything. I have a feeling this trip is just going to make me want to bring Chris and Ayden back so bad next year and I'd rather save those special things for when they are with me. I'll have my co-worker Karen with me too so I wouldn't want her to feel like she had to do the tour too. I don't even know if she'll have the same interests as me as it is....

We're supposed to have some kind of special tour the day of the Conference and it sounds as if it's in the park so I'm really excited to see what that's all about.

Okay good! I was busy running around all day so tonight was my first real chance to get on my computer so I could go on the Dis. Thankfully tomorrow I only have one kid in school.

 No problem......just couldn't help but start this....just too much excitement not to share it.....lol !!!

Ok, no problem....I will plan on doing it the next day.....its a must on my list. I figured I would want to do the 2 holiday rides & they're included during the tour.....that takes care of those on my list & then seeing the parade is also a must & I'll get reserved seating for that. Fireworks is also a huge must & so I will get to that after the parade. Actually I'm hoping to catch the fireworks both nights.....I love fireworks!!!!

Ok, so with Mike home I was able to find out what camera he has his eyes on. It's a Nikon D-7000.

I'm sure he'll come on & post about what this camera can do......pretty fancy though!!

I absolutely LOVE the fireworks too. Do what works best for you, since I dont' know what we're going to end up doing it's hard to commit to anything. I know we'll catch up at some time or another. We may have a late dinner that first night and eat at Downtown Disney. I've been wanting to try Ralph Brennans, have you eaten there before?

Ralph Brennan's is the bomb!!! :woohoo: If you go for a dinner after the fireworks....I will definitely join you!!!! I'm not sure of park hours, but I thought I read that it would probably be closing at 9pm. Hopefully hours will get posted soon!!

So this bad boy is a 16.2 MP camera with intercahangable lenses. Once the learning curve takes place it can do almost everything, HD movies, shoot still pics upto 6 frames/ second. shoot in low light with good clarity even with action shots (tech speak: up to ISO 6400 that can expand to 12,600 ISO). This feature will be great for dark rides, without using the flash, where we seem to have problems getting good clear pics. It also has several special shooting modes and of course AUTO mode. The reviews I've read put equal or higher than their $5000 professional models in many areas.

In my own defense, I've had a long love of photography even having my own darkroom when Laurie and I met. That said, rekindling this hobby especially at DL would be great fun and hey we all love seeing pics from DLR. :thumbsup2

That's my story and I'm sticking to it;)

And just think Mike of the wonderful pictures you can get of the kids. I think a good camera is an investment. I want to get a Pentax because I have lens that were my dads that were good lenses that I would be able to use.

Subscribing!!

Hi Kaitlin!!!

It is a good investment, as long as it is ALWAYS out of reach of the kids....otherwise it's a very, VERY expensive flying object...that probably wouldn't fare well on the landings!! :rotfl2:

Oh that is a horrific thought.

It really is true......good things come to good people :). You certainly do deserve this trip. I am sure it is to hard for both you and husband to get away at same time :(. I am very excited for you both :). I do believe I am as excited about the new camera as your husband. I am sure we are all going to be blessed with exciting Christmas pictures of Disneyland during the most wonderful time of the year. If I am correct Daughter bought that same camera -- well probably the one released just before this one .........iT IS A GREAT CAMERA. She does the year book for grandson's school ... well that was her excuse for getting this camera. I think if you ever forget the camera it would get itself to Disneyland and take pictures by itself. Going to give my age away again :(, but 40 something years ago I worked in the photo lab at Weyerhaeuser Co. We had a walk in developing room -- NO DOOR. You entered and left via a half circle with a panel in the middle -- it was painted all black of course. (-- sort of like this but half circle longer on both sides and the dashes would be connected. Revoluntionary for its day. We even had a color drum -- again something only a few private corps owned. I would think Weyer. would be considered large. I really liked working in the photo lab but-------- working in black and white lab was fine but when I had to roll color film-- since it had to be done in 0 light I would fall asleep after 30 mins or so. Good thing is I never got caught as before anyone entered they had to knock and make sure I was done with rolling or developing the color film. I am amazed with how far cameras and printing of the shots taken has come. Big question now is R U in need of someone to carry your bags, get your food, be in charge of traffice control getting from one attraction to another, a girl Saturday? I could be any day of the week girl Friday, Tuesday, Sunday what ever it takes to get back to Disneyland :). Kidding aside I am looking forward to the planning, the trip and then the trip report :). Your reports make me feel like I am the one traveling :). Ok on with the show.

Yea, having read several independant reviews I decided this would be a great camera for all uses and would take portrait quality picture of ALL my children whether at home or at my wife's second (and preferred) home to the south. I had a rather nice darkroom right after high school with a large color enlarger (though I didn't do much color due to the narrow temperature window with color) and owned an Olympus OM-1 (the original) with several lenses. I left the camera with my parents and my brother "borrowed" the lenses to use with his Olympus D-SLR. Again, several of the Nikon's features hooked me and made me want it over either Olympus or Canon. Now to become proficient with it before our spring trip.

Hi Patty, I'm glad you found me!!! I'm really looking forward to this....just hope the IRS doesn't disappoint again.....lol

Yup.....what he said....... :lmao:

The IRS had better not disappoint you this time. I wonder if they have to pay you interest on the claim from time of first filing? Wouldn't that be nice :). A wonderful please forgive me gift from the IRS :). The do pay great interest to :).

I have been here -- just lurking.

I like the PPH better then DLH.

I just thought ......You are going to be so busy before your Holiday trip. Moving is such a pain. I have lived in this house for 24 years and then 10 years in house before. I hope you find the perfect home and get moved super fast.

Dad to 7: being just out of high school and having your own photo lab is very impressive. It is wonderful how the cameras now are print ready---well the shots are :). Funny how in the old days you would take such a long time getting lighting perfect for maybe 3-5 shots. Now you can take 100 and pick the one you like best, no muss no fuss.

I will be reading and enjoying all the planning.

We are getting interest!! When I called to find out when we were getting the check, the guy told me it was being mailed out on the 21st (yesterday)......so it just made me nervous when I received a letter on the 21st saying to expect the check in 2-3 wks!! :scared1: I hope that guy read the computer screen right......we're totally depending on it showing up Monday......the utilities are tired of "dealing" with me.....heavy sigh :sad2:

I L:love:VE the PPH!!!! I thought it was so cheery & the staff was amazing.....more so than the other 2 hotels.

Patty meet my hubby Mike......Mike meet Patty!!

I won't be on until later today.....we're up early to travel up to Portland for my step-mom's memorial.

My next post will cover the MUST's of my trip!!! :yay:
