I am new too the DDP, and I was hoping I could have a little help with a few questions I have?

I wanted to get the basic DDP.

1.) Are there only certain items you can order off the menus?
2.) If you cannot get reservations for a table service rest. can you use that credit towards a QS meal?

Thank you

1.) You canpretty much order anything. There are usually limits on lobster entrees if they are offered at the restyaurant,

2.) Nope. Sorry

1.) Are there only certain items you can order off the menus?

Generally you can order any item on the menu with the DDP. I've not seen limitations at any of the Disney-owned restaurants, but some of the non-Disney venues might have limitations. It is best to ask at each restaurant, so you're not surprised when the bill comes.

Also note, that they will not let you substitute an appetizer for a dessert (it's a question that is commonly asked by those that are new to the DDP).

2.) If you cannot get reservations for a table service rest. can you use that credit towards a QS meal?

On rare occasions people have posted that they've been able to convert credits down, but these are not common. Disney does not have an official policy allowing this, so it seems to vary. The best bet is to try and do this at a resort (there have been almost no successful conversion in the parks). Good luck.

It depends. Some places they might limit the lobster entrees. I will ask the server if I have any questions.

This depends too. We were able to do this at the America pavillion at Epcot. Obvioulsy, a terrible use of credits. It is very rare that you can't get any reservations. Don't forget the resort restaurants.

No. You can order anything within the allotments your plan provides (on the basic plan, in general, one entree, one dessert and one NONalcoholic beverage). With very few exceptions. Such as the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream is exempt. Such as Via Napoli will not allow specialty beverages at all (even if they are not alcoholic). There are a few others - but not many. I have seen two references on the boards to exempting lobster entrees but I'm totally unaware of any current restaurant that actually does so. There is really only one DDP restaurant (Narcoosees) that serves a lobster entree - and it's not exempt. Some of the other signatures may serve entrees containing lobster at times - these also have not been exempt. All signature restaurants cost 2 TS credits per meal.

If you cannot get reservations for a table service rest. can you use that credit towards a QS meal?

The actual answer to this is "maybe." It's not an official part of the plan, so it depends on where you ask and who you ask.

Thank you all for your help. I always wanted to get the DDP but wasn't sure if I would use it to its full potential. That's another story or I should say concern.

Thanks again all:goodvibes

You best chance of success at using a TS for a QS meal is at a resort food court. Apparently many of the QS places in the Parks are not set up to convert them. We had no problem using some of our TS credits at the POP foodcourt.
