Low crowds would be great!

There's lots she'll be able to do, but a few rides were a bit of a surprise that I couldn't ride. The speedway cars are another one I was surprised by lol but I'm not really a fan of them anyhow.

Driving would only be worse for us, our children HATE their carseats. but we enjoy the busses, monorail and boats. Our girls all enjoy the monorail - we've always made a point to ride at least once while vacationing in the past.

I really hope that she can enjoy herself. I know there's still plenty to do. My mom was in her second trimester with twins during the first trip I ever took to WDW, so I know it can be done.

I always have to get a monorail ride in. Nothing says Disney World like arriving in front of MK or looping through Future World in the monorail.

Yuck... you must have been miserable. I hope DW is just going through one of those first trimester bouts with nausea. She hasn't been getting sick or anything, just feeling nauseous to the point that she doesn't want to move.

Thank you! I'm sure he will be, he loves his little cousin. Although yesterday they were together and he seemed to want nothing to do with him... the mood swings of an almost 2 year old I guess.

I decided I'd make a post today to test a few theories. First of all, I can't see my Photobucket pictures from work, so in preparation for doing my TR later on, I'm going to try posting pictures that should appear on my computer as the dreaded Red X and hope they show up as they're supposed to for everyone else.

I've finally bit the bullet and upgraded to the world of smart phones. I have to say I'm glad I did. (I love my Droid Bionic!) I have taken and posted a picture in the DDC thread using my phone and it actually was fairly easy. I don't plan to spend much time on my phone on vacation, but I'm kind of thinking of popping in here for a few minutes each day while we're gone to do a pic of the day type post. I can just about guarantee I won't be posting comments and the picture may or may not happen depending on my mood, so don't hold me to it. I thought that might be a fun thing to try to do though.

Now, on to the meat of the post. We're in the middle of harvest season here and the rain has come to shut us down for a few days. The dry summer we had here has really sped things up this fall. We are done harvesting soybeans, basically at the normal time of year, and just have corn left. I'm feeling a lot better about going on vacation and not having travel dates affected by work requirements, or feeling guilty about leaving work for someone else during a busy time of year.

Since I work an office job during the day, my time working on the farm comes on the weekends and in the evenings. I got to spend a lot of time this Saturday in this machine.

And since we finished soybeans this weekend we switched to corn on Monday. I took this picture Monday night as I was working late trying to beat the rain. The good news is that I was able to drive fast through the corn. The bad news is that I could drive fast because it isn't producing much corn and the rain still got there before we could finish that field.

If you have no interest in this post, I apologize. I just thought I'd take the opportunity to test my picture posting abilities and share a little bit about what's going on around here right now and let you all know that I'm not trying to abandon this PTR. We're excited and can't wait to head south, but the next couple of months are going to be a heck of a wild ride around here between harvest, vacation and the holidays. It should be a lot of fun though!

I just found your PTR and read it this morning... Loving it!!!

We took our DS to Disney when he was both 19 months old, and again a year later when he was 31 months old... We're not going this year due to DH switching jobs and now has to wait a year for vacation... But we are planning on going again next year in October...

We brought DS's stroller along both times and will probably take it again next year even tho he'll almost be 5 years old... He's heavy enough to carry now, I'm NOT carrying him next year when he tells me "his legs are broke, carry me"...

One thing we did with the stroller was put a luggage tag on the handle with our name & address so we could easily find it in the sea of strollers...

We also learned we can't take the stroller in qs or ts restaurants, even with a sleeping child...

Congrats on the new peanut!!!

And harvest here in Iowa is going full speed... Most everyone has beans done and some farmers are almost done with corn... We've had a few rainy days, but nothing to slow them down...

Glad to see that you’re getting toward the finish of the harvest. Sorry that it’s not a strong a yield as you’d have liked. Maybe the weather will cooperate a might better next season.

This time of year I spend a lot of time out of doors working in a "field" as well, but it ain’t the same as what you’re up to (by any stretch of the imagination ).

I thought it was interesting! We didn't have a combine growing up. We chopped or picked most of our corn. We would have the neighbor come over and combine a few fields. But we never got to ride along.

But we are planning on going again next year in October...

I'd really love to go during October sometime, but that will probably never happen for obvious reasons. F&W and MNSSHP look like they'd be a lot of fun.

We're trying to decide what we're going to do to make our stroller stick out.

I guess I didn't know that they don't let you take strollers into the restaurants, but at the same time it doesn't really surprise me. It would make a nice relaxing meal in a TS restaurant more enjoyable if we could just get him to pass out and wheel him right up to the table though.

Still far from being done, but in better shape to be done before we're supposed to leave than I thought we'd be about 5 or 6 months ago. We had a record low rainfall for the month of July here this year, so honestly, crops are doing better than I'd have ever expected. It's still the worst crop I've ever experienced so the bar is set low for being better next season.

Yes, that field is a half mile long and there's probably about a 10' rise that drops off by about 25' on the other side. You've really got to watch your speed when you crest it so that you don't speed up and lose control.

I need to take a picture when I get home this evening to show you how "flat" the ground is at my house.

Now about this trip of yours...

The trip is planned and plans have been discussed already. I'll post some final plans later on, but I did get another e-mail from Touringplans this morning. All I have to say is...

Might have to re-evaluate our plans for a couple of days. Dave, if you're still around here, I don't know about MK on the 28th anymore. I still might slip over by myself for EMH after DW and DS go to bed, but we might not do MK that afternoon. This could cause a pretty significant change in plans.

I remember you saying that your property had one of 3 hills in the county and the cross country team used it for meets.
But I would suspect that for everyone else around you, if someone yelled "head for high ground!" they would just stand around and scratch their heads.

But they all want to show up at my place when the snow hits!

And there was the one time I was mowing my yard and saw a Jeep drop down over the top of the hill. I jumped in my truck and chased them down... it was 2 kids that couldn't have been more than 12 years old!





I'm a little bit at Disney right now. I HATE Free Dining. I had a reservation for CP at 8:10 am on 12/2. They have changed park hours so that MK opens at 8 am that day now. Thanks to Free Dining, I have been unable to reschedule our CP breakfast for another day, or even be able to reschedule it for lunch or dinner any other day we're going to be in the MK. I love having to make ADR's 180 days out to get the meals you want just so Disney can change their park hours later on and completely mess up your plans. Not a happy camper right now, but we'll figure something out.

Actually I do understand. Your young man, won’t remember this particular encounter with the denizens of the Hundred Acre Wood, but you and your better half certainly will (and the pictures will stand to create the memories for the kids latter on). If she has her heart set of that experience, then I hope you can find a way to make it work.
