Why Not Just Queue Up Another Disney Trip? Link to New TR 6/24 p136!

A Couple New Updates:

Since this TR includes several of my upcoming trips, I feel obliged to keep you updated on those happenings.

FIRST - I bought one park ticket for December. Of course, it will be upgraded to an AP, but I had an AAA rebate certificate that was about to expire. I basically bought a 4 day base ticket with all rebate certificates. Total expenditure $3.50

Second - I was able to rebook our return flights for December, earning $69 in SWA credit. :woohoo:

Third - My SIL confirmed that she will be joining us in June 2012 in a treehouse villa. That will be my Brother/SIL and their four boys. Watch out!

Mary Ellen -- just caught up ...the campus looks really nice. I hope your son settles in, first year can be a challenge but the change of scenery can do worlds of good!

Your photos and updates are great. LOVE the cruise pics - I'll have to take a few notes for future trips.

AAA discounts, eh? from the AAA visa card? I've been cutting those u p& chucking them but maybe I should look in to that. AWESOME discounts!

gotta go get dressed for a field hockey game.

7 Days to Vacation!!!:banana::banana: I'm sure you're super excited!

All those menus sound delicious, I don't know how you'll choose, but then again you won't go wrong.

Love that picture of the DVC sign :) Can't wait to see more of the resort when you get back, I definitely wasn't giving it much credit.

Savannah is one place that I want to visit. I tried to get my DH to stop there when we were driving to Florida. He wouldn't, thinks that he has to make it to where he is going without sightseeing along the way. ARRGG!

South Carolina is a very pretty state to travel through. The last time that we drove through all of the overpasses had Christmas wreaths on them. That was so cool!

We drove through Georgia enough times last year to keep me satisfied for a long time! I did love buying peaches & pecans though.

It IS a long drive, but sooo worth it. Interested to hear how the Sea Shack is- we have never gone because the lines are crazy long in the summer-

Your friends look like a lot of fun! You''l have a blast, I'm sure!

Sooooo pretty there....

Wow the photos of Hilton Head look so good! :thumbsup2 I hope you and your friends have a great time Mary Ellen!

Love the planning binder.

Eek at having to get up so early and the drive! Hopefully it'll be worth it once you get to your destination.

Great plans and the menu had me drooling!!

Yay on the giftcard and going to Cali grill - can't wait to see what you get.

Your HHI plans sound like so much fun!! I wouldn't be looking forward to the long drive either, but it'll definitely be worth it!! Those menus sound so good!

I'm sure it will be worth it! I am really looking forward to it. I guess I'll be on facebook a lot during the drive so I can pass the time. Fortunately, I am not the main driver!

Your HHI plans sound like a lot of fun! That is a long drive though...

I am really looking forward to HHI! Too bad I can't just snap my fingers and be there. So much easier to get on a plane!

Your plans sound really great. Sounds like a trip I would like to take very much someday. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I have a feeling that HHI is going to be something that every DISer should do. I think everyone needs a beach vacation with a Disney flare! :thumbsup2

I'm not much for long car rides so I don't envy you that but the rest of the trip sounds wonderful! :goodvibes

Believe me Dawn, I know what you mean. I think my ADD kicks in big time when I am in the car too long. 8 hours is my limit. It's gonna be tough and I hear that I95 gets to be pretty boring.

Sounds like it's going to be a great trip! I'd love to go to HHI someday, and also Savannah, it looks like such a beautiful city! :thumbsup2

I am really looking forward to seeing this part of the country. I am sure I will absolutely adore Savannah and Charleston. I have never heard anyone say they don't like Charleston.

Love your Lowcountry vacation plans! (Of course, I do!) If you don't have time, just pick up your Kaminsky's desserts to go -- you won't be sorry!

I really appreciate all your suggestions. I have a master page with everything written down including phone numbers and addresses. Getting dessert to go is a wonderful idea!!!! Yeah!

Also, if you want a truly unique souvenir, get a sweetgrass basket at either Boone Hall or downtown in the market. They are pricey, but oh-so-Charleston. They are made by women who have been taught by their mothers and so on. They sit there, weaving their baskets, while they are selling the others. I am trying to remember if there is anything else I should tell you not-to-miss...I'll let you know if I think of anything.

Every since I told my friend, L, about the baskets she has said that is the one thing she really wants. I can't wait to see Charleston. I know I am going to want to relocate there. It sounds like the perfect city. I'll never be able to talk Denny into Florida, but perhaps this is a good compromise.

Yes - if you think of anything else, PLEASE let me know. :goodvibes

Oh, if you need groceries for the villa, shop at the Piggly Wiggly which is near the entrance of Shelter Cove -- then, you can say you have shopped at a Piggly Wiggly. LOL!

I have heard of Piggly Wiggly, but I have never shopped in one. I am sure we will need a grocery run, although we are trying to pack a cooler with a few staples. We are trying to eat breakfast and lunch at the condo and have dinner out.

Mary Ellen -- just caught up ...the campus looks really nice. I hope your son settles in, first year can be a challenge but the change of scenery can do worlds of good!

That is what I am hoping - that a change of scenery will be good for him. He was home this weekend and as soon as he gets around his old friends (the dirt ball ones), thing go down hill. I don't think he should come home again until Thanksgiving.

Your photos and updates are great. LOVE the cruise pics - I'll have to take a few notes for future trips.

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the updates. Stay tune - I will definitely try to update at least twice before I leave. I do have a couple soccer games this week and tons of soccer pictures to post, but I promise to DIS too!

AAA discounts, eh? from the AAA visa card? I've been cutting those u p& chucking them but maybe I should look in to that. AWESOME discounts!

It give 2% back to your account on gas and I think you get 2% towards the rebate certificates. They send them to you when you earn $50. You can use them on just about everything AAA sells including any park ticket. You can also send them directly to agent to use towards trips. They really do defray the cost of a park ticket and then I just upgrade the ticket to an AP when I get there. So my DH is not thrilled with the Disney Visa because its only 1%, but I want the $100 gift card and I would like to have a few disney dollars saved for next June! KWIM!

gotta go get dressed for a field hockey game.

Gotta love the fall sports!

7 Days to Vacation!!!:banana::banana: I'm sure you're super excited!

I really am. It's going to be a busy week, but I really feel like I need a vacation. Can't come soon enough!

All those menus sound delicious, I don't know how you'll choose, but then again you won't go wrong.

I know Ellen knows her food, so whatever she recommends is a keeper. So many places. So little time!!!!!

Love that picture of the DVC sign :) Can't wait to see more of the resort when you get back, I definitely wasn't giving it much credit.

From the little I know about it, its supposed to be fantastic. I hope to like it a lot because I'd really like to go back there with my DH, Denny, if I do. I can definitely see him liking it. He's not a "lay on the beach" type person, but he loves the outdoors.

No worries - I will take LOTS of pictures! Always do! ;)

Savannah is one place that I want to visit. I tried to get my DH to stop there when we were driving to Florida. He wouldn't, thinks that he has to make it to where he is going without sightseeing along the way. ARRGG!

Oh No! Well, maybe next time you can convince him. I love to sight see. There are so many great places in this country. I appreciate every new place to get to see. Discovery new places is so much fun!

South Carolina is a very pretty state to travel through. The last time that we drove through all of the overpasses had Christmas wreaths on them. That was so cool!

Really? Now that is cool! What a nice touch!

We drove through Georgia enough times last year to keep me satisfied for a long time! I did love buying peaches & pecans though.

That boring, eh? :rotfl: Though peaches and pecans sound like a bonus!

It IS a long drive, but sooo worth it. Interested to hear how the Sea Shack is- we have never gone because the lines are crazy long in the summer-

I know it will be worth it. I have heard enough about the place from you that I KNOW I will love it. I really appreciate all your wonderful dining suggestions. They all sound fabulous. After I looked through the first third I found so many that looked appealing that I stopped. Just shows I will need multiple trips to HH!!!!

Your friends look like a lot of fun! You''l have a blast, I'm sure!

My friends are both very sweet, low maintenance type girls. We had a really nice time together in the OBX last summer. I am sure we will have a good time here, too!

Sooooo pretty there....

2008_073106summer0103.jpg

I'm going to need more memory cards, aren't I? :rotfl:

That is a stunning picture. So serene! I hope the sunsets are still pretty in late October!

Wow the photos of Hilton Head look so good! :thumbsup2 I hope you and your friends have a great time Mary Ellen!

.

Thanks. Did you see Ellen's? I really want to see a beautiful sunset like that. I really think its going to be a fun trip!

Love the planning binder.

I had an NP student who gave me that Mickey card last year, so I just cut it up and decided to make a front for my binder. I couldn't bear the thought of throwing anything out with Mickey on it. Now Mickey has cocktails in each hand... :rolleyes1

Eek at having to get up so early and the drive! Hopefully it'll be worth it once you get to your destination.

Well, I'm sure when you fly from England to Orlando its no picnic either. But at least you get to stay two weeks. The drive is going to stink, but we'll make it!

Great plans and the menu had me drooling!!

some of those menus look so delish. I love seafood. I could eat it everyday. Plus I love all types of vegetables. All that stuff is right up my alley.

Yay on the giftcard and going to Cali grill - can't wait to see what you get.

We originally thought we were going to do the DxDP for a few days, but they nixed that. It's back to either getting it for the whole stay or not at all. There is no way I want it for 5 days. It's just way too much food. So I am going to get the TIW card, but it's nice to have the gift card to defray food costs. I really want to try the sushi there. I ate there once several years ago, but it was during my pre-sushi days. Must try the sushi this time.

You are not behind. This is a sloooooow moving TR. Well, actually I hope to pick up the pace a bit this week and add more w-burg stuff.

You would love W-burg. It's chocked full of history and other fun things to do. I can't wait to go back!

The resort is supposed to be fabulous. That's why I wanted to post about it on the regular trip report boards. I want to make it informative for other DISers who may want to go there. I am really looking forward to seeing Savannah & Charleston. I have heard nothing but good about Charleston and knowing me, I will probably want to move there. I am dying to relocated further south. Too chilly and damp here in the winters. Brrrrr!

I haven't been down to Williamsburg since I was a junior in highschool and I certainly enjoyed it then.

I'm glad you're posting on here about Hilton Head. Who knows? That could be on the horizon, too.

And I'm with you on the whole moving South thing. I would love to. Would love to go all the way down to the Sarasota/Ft. Myer's area in Florida, but I don't see that happening for a loooong time. Oh, welll...guess Connecticut isn't that bad! :rotfl:

:

We stopped there right after we got married, many years ago and then we went back when the kids were in grade school. But this time I really noticed so much more and it seems like a lot of areas (like Yorktown) have changed since we last visited.

I'm glad you're posting on here about Hilton Head. Who knows? That could be on the horizon, too.

I know I keep saying this, but its supposed to be wonderful. I can't wait to see just how wonderful it is for myself. I sort of wish I was going with my DH because our darn August trip was too short and Denny is super easy to travel with, but I'm surely not complaining about a girl's trip!!!!

Ind I'm with you on the whole moving South thing. I would love to. Would love to go all the way down to the Sarasota/Ft. Myer's area in Florida, but I don't see that happening for a loooong time. Oh, welll...guess Connecticut isn't that bad! :rotfl:

Denny says he wants to move north! :scared1: I think he's out of his mind. My motivation is that everyone who moves south ends up loving it. How can I possibly go wrong by moving south! Right! :rotfl:

I can't get Bob to move to Florida either. We are going to put the house up for sale in a year or so, bet I can't get him to decide on a place to move! I want warm winters, so maybe N.Carolina would be nice. He likes it there, especially the Smokies. He wants to stay close to the kids, but if we moved to Florida we would probably see them more often!:)

Maybe we will go to Savannah next Sept. It would be pushing things to go to WDW next year. So I'm shooting for 2013, unless I can go on a girl's trip.

Mary Ellen, your plans sound wonderful! I am a little envious, but then when I thought about all the great stories and pictures you'll be sharing with us, I was ok;)

When, not if, we do our eastern seaboard trip, we will definitely be planning on staying several days touring with you:banana: The thought of it makes me over the moon happy....we would have a ball! We could always end the trip with a few days in Disney:confused3what do you think??

Oh - the Smokies are beautiful. I think I would be happy in North Carolina. Any place south of Delaware sounds good to me!!! :rotfl:

Well - I'm sure there are going to be plenty of girls at F&W 2013!!!!! I know I am in and rooming with Cynthia again. Maybe you could sneak away for that. :rolleyes1

Sho 'nuf! Come on down, ya heah?

ABBSBTGOG! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: So sorry you won't be making it to HHI. Any bites on your reservation yet? Such a bummer you have to cancel. :sad2:

You know I love details, so this WILL be a comprehensive report on HHI. :thumbsup2 No worries there. I just need to get more written about Williamsburg. I have stuff to do every night this week, except for Thursday. Still, I want to get something done tonight, even if its just a short update.

When, not if, we do our eastern seaboard trip, we will definitely be planning on staying several days touring with you:banana: The thought of it makes me over the moon happy....we would have a ball! We could always end the trip with a few days in Disney:confused3what do you think??

That would be so totally cool! I would absolutely love that, especially capped off with a trip to Disney! :goodvibes

Your HHI plans look divine! What a great girls trip!! I'll be excited to hear your impressions of the resort. Have a safe drive - sounds like an adventure!

Mary Ellen--I am sooo jealous! Your trip looks like so much fun. I have never been to Hilton Head but it is on my vacation bucket list.

You will  Savannah! We were there a few summers ago and visited for a long weekend on our way to Myrtle Beach. I also  the Old Town Trolley Tours. I wanted to give you a few tips. If you start the tour at a stop other than stop 1, when you get to stop 1, you have to get off the trolley and board again. That is where the welcome center and railroad roundhouse is. Jeremy used to and still loves trains. He loved the roundhouse. I don't remember which stop it is, but the Williams house (I don't think that is the name but Jim Williams is who lived there--I think it is Mercer House) from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil used to not show on the Old Time Trolley Map. There is a stop near it. I can't think of the name of it but check out that home. It is very beautiful. BTW, I don't know if you like to read or not but I read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and was glad I did before I went. There is a lot in that town you will see/learn from the movie. Okay, I am rambling. Can you tell Savannah is my 2nd favorite place to visit other than Disney!!! :rotfl2:

One last thing, not sure what time you are leaving Savannah but we did Old Town Trolley's Ghost Tour. It was hilarious!!! Lots of fun. Not sure I would do it again as at one point it liked to scared me to death! :scared1:

I can't wait to see all you fabulous pictures.

I've been reading, but I don't think I've commented on your HHI trip plans yet. It looks like you are going to have a great time! It's on my bucket list as well - and hopefully we'll do it at the DVC HHI!! My SIL used to own a condo there and I wish we'd been able to go before she sold it, but no.
What a gorgeous sunset picture! I love sunrise and sunset pictures. I could decorate a whole house with them!

I'm planning/expecting to be at WDW for F&W 2012 (with my family) and will definitely be wanting some DISmeets!!! Hopefully the dates will coordinate with others.

So sorry you won't be making it to HHI. Any bites on your reservation yet? Such a bummer you have to cancel. :sad2:

No bites....just a few nibbles. :lmao: The points will go into a holding account. They were under two separate UY's so part of them will expire at the end of February, 2012 and the balance will expire at the end of July, 2012. I will try to use those that expire in July to add another day to our May, 2012 trip if anything is available at the 60 day window. Otherwise, C'est la vie, que sera sera and s**t happens! :sad1: We sure were looking forward to meeting y'all. Maybe at WDW sometime in the future. Y'all have fun. It sounds like you have a great trip planned. BTW, the certificate is in the mail.

Will you guys hate me if I do replies tomorrow and try to start an update tonight?????
