Your HHI plans sound like so much fun!! I wouldn't be looking forward to the long drive either, but it'll definitely be worth it!! Those menus sound so good!
I'm sure it will be worth it! I am really looking forward to it. I guess I'll be on facebook a lot during the drive so I can pass the time. Fortunately, I am not the main driver!
Your HHI plans sound like a lot of fun! That is a long drive though...
I am really looking forward to HHI! Too bad I can't just snap my fingers and be there. So much easier to get on a plane!
Your plans sound really great. Sounds like a trip I would like to take very much someday.
Thanks! I have a feeling that HHI is going to be something that every DISer should do. I think everyone needs a beach vacation with a Disney flare!
I'm not much for long car rides so I don't envy you that but the rest of the trip sounds wonderful!
Believe me Dawn, I know what you mean. I think my ADD kicks in big time when I am in the car too long. 8 hours is my limit. It's gonna be tough and I hear that I95 gets to be pretty boring.
Sounds like it's going to be a great trip! I'd love to go to HHI someday, and also Savannah, it looks like such a beautiful city!
I am really looking forward to seeing this part of the country. I am sure I will absolutely adore Savannah and Charleston. I have never heard anyone say they don't like Charleston.
Love your Lowcountry vacation plans! (Of course, I do!
) If you don't have time, just pick up your Kaminsky's desserts to go -- you won't be sorry!
I really appreciate all your suggestions. I have a master page with everything written down including phone numbers and addresses. Getting dessert to go is a wonderful idea!!!! Yeah!
Also, if you want a truly unique souvenir, get a sweetgrass basket at either Boone Hall or downtown in the market. They are pricey, but oh-so-Charleston. They are made by women who have been taught by their mothers and so on. They sit there, weaving their baskets, while they are selling the others. I am trying to remember if there is anything else I should tell you not-to-miss...I'll let you know if I think of anything.
Every since I told my friend, L, about the baskets she has said that is the one thing she really wants. I can't wait to see Charleston. I know I am going to want to relocate there. It sounds like the perfect city. I'll never be able to talk Denny into Florida, but perhaps this is a good compromise.
Yes - if you think of anything else, PLEASE let me know.
Oh, if you need groceries for the villa, shop at the Piggly Wiggly which is near the entrance of Shelter Cove -- then, you can say you have shopped at a Piggly Wiggly. LOL!
I have heard of Piggly Wiggly, but I have never shopped in one. I am sure we will need a grocery run, although we are trying to pack a cooler with a few staples. We are trying to eat breakfast and lunch at the condo and have dinner out.
Mary Ellen -- just caught up ...the campus looks really nice. I hope your son settles in, first year can be a challenge but the change of scenery can do worlds of good!
That is what I am hoping - that a change of scenery will be good for him. He was home this weekend and as soon as he gets around his old friends (the dirt ball ones), thing go down hill. I don't think he should come home again until Thanksgiving.
Your photos and updates are great. LOVE the cruise pics - I'll have to take a few notes for future trips.
Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the updates. Stay tune - I will definitely try to update at least twice before I leave. I do have a couple soccer games this week and tons of soccer pictures to post, but I promise to DIS too!
AAA discounts, eh? from the AAA visa card? I've been cutting those u p& chucking them but maybe I should look in to that. AWESOME discounts!
It give 2% back to your account on gas and I think you get 2% towards the rebate certificates. They send them to you when you earn $50. You can use them on just about everything AAA sells including any park ticket. You can also send them directly to agent to use towards trips. They really do defray the cost of a park ticket and then I just upgrade the ticket to an AP when I get there. So my DH is not thrilled with the Disney Visa because its only 1%, but I want the $100 gift card and I would like to have a few disney dollars saved for next June! KWIM!
gotta go get dressed for a field hockey game.
Gotta love the fall sports!
7 Days to Vacation!!!
I'm sure you're super excited!
I really am. It's going to be a busy week, but I really feel like I need a vacation. Can't come soon enough!
All those menus sound delicious, I don't know how you'll choose, but then again you won't go wrong.
I know Ellen knows her food, so whatever she recommends is a keeper. So many places. So little time!!!!!
Love that picture of the DVC sign
Can't wait to see more of the resort when you get back, I definitely wasn't giving it much credit.
From the little I know about it, its supposed to be fantastic. I hope to like it a lot because I'd really like to go back there with my DH, Denny, if I do. I can definitely see him liking it. He's not a "lay on the beach" type person, but he loves the outdoors.
No worries - I will take LOTS of pictures! Always do!
Savannah is one place that I want to visit. I tried to get my DH to stop there when we were driving to Florida. He wouldn't, thinks that he has to make it to where he is going without sightseeing along the way. ARRGG!
Oh No! Well, maybe next time you can convince him. I love to sight see. There are so many great places in this country. I appreciate every new place to get to see. Discovery new places is so much fun!
South Carolina is a very pretty state to travel through. The last time that we drove through all of the overpasses had Christmas wreaths on them. That was so cool!
Really? Now that is cool! What a nice touch!
We drove through Georgia enough times last year to keep me satisfied for a long time! I did love buying peaches & pecans though.
That boring, eh?
Though peaches and pecans sound like a bonus!
