2013 dates

We just did the Mexican Riviera on 10/2. We are platinum cruisers and the discount in the shops was 10% off (almost) anything you bought.

As a matter of fact, the first night I was in the shops, I was "struggling" with making it to the $100 mark (had like $92 worth of stuff) and the store cast member came up to me and told me about the policy change. I thought it was cool (not having to spend $100), but now I realize that it wasn't---since the old way was $25 off and the new way is only 10%!

Quick question, I am now gold and thought that I read somewhere that I can only book over the phone when early bookings open to platinum and gold. Is this still true or will the system realize that I am gold and allow me to book when I log in?

As of right now, you still need to call in. Could DCL make web changes to allow web bookings? Possibly but I wouldn't count on it. The folks in their web department don't always seem to be the sharpest knives in the drawer. I could see them trying to set it up for Plat & Gold, screwing it up, and accidentally opening booking for everyone.

Now is is 10% off most items in the stores (regardless of amount spent), which is a nice thing for those just buying an item or two. But, it sure was nice being able to pick up two Dooney wristlets and saving $25. A 10% discount, sure ain't a 25% discount!.

Oh thanks for pointing this out! I like you rounded up gifts to make it over $100 last time and this being the case I will definately not worry about that. Can anyone confirm this is for both Platinum and Gold?

Yep, both Platinum and Gold. ::yes::

OK question now is what to do! Does anyone know how quickly prices went up for the TA when it was announced for this year? We sail on the 30th so debating if to book then try to reshop or just leave it

I am dealing with the same thing. I will book one and then reshop it when we are on board if they open it up before that. Whichever deal is best is the one I will keep.

I think they may wait until later to release the Magic's schedule like they did this year. Good luck!

I'm so annoyed with this 2013 date waiting game that I just need to vent for a minute. Why can't Disney tell us when the dates will be released so that I can mark it in my calendar and log in and move my reservation on that date. I have a cruise booked this February that I booked onboard and I know I can't go. I want to move it to 2013. Instead, I have to go online and check every couple of days. It's annoying me so much that I've come this close --> <-- to cancelling the cruise and being done with it. My pay in full day is approaching and I hate having this hang over my head. I could move to another dummy date but that would increase my deposit. I'm on the fence about whether or not I want to do another Disney cruise and this waiting game is pushing me towards the cancel side. GGRRR. Rant over. I'm going to go back to being a happy person now:snooty:.

I think it is a money issue with Disney. They are trying to figure out when to release these dates to cause the least amount of flight from the current 2012 schedule. They've also got to determine the right price point. They've recently done a cabin reclassifcation and I'm guessing they are looking to refine pricing for the 2013 dates ... meaning try to figure out how much more they can charge.

Disney has to be careful not to oversaturate. They are not a discount line. If the 2012 dates are not full enough, they are going to hold on the 2013 announcement. Waiting longer also forces the hand of some of us who booked these stub cruises.

Yep, both Platinum and Gold. ::yes::

Thanks Jackie!

Here's hoping! Good luck to you too

When did this change? We just sailed the 3-nt Sept 29 and the shopping offer was a $25 obc for spending $100. I tried to save our purchases for the last night but still didn't come close. It would be nice if they let guests choose either option once per cruise.

We are Gold and got the same discount (25$ off 100$) on our September Dream cruise as well. :confused3

This is what I heard from my travel agent this morning. 2013 itineraries can be released as early as next week with bookings as early as Tuesday, but nothing definite. Most likely not everything will be announced, only Bahamas and Caribbean.

Yep, my TA thinks we won't hear much of anything about the Magic/Wonder for several months yet. Which is why they recommended I make TWO dummy bookings on my last cruise. One to apply now (next week) to a Fantasy 2013 Christmas cruise and one to apply to any exciting/special itinerary for the Magic/Wonder. Then I can decide at my leisure if I can afford BOTH. (or if I have to add people to my stateroom to make my per person cost lower :lmao:)

.

Do you guys think the 5/25/11 sailing will be and Eastern or Western?
How about the 12/28/11 sailing?

So,probably just Dream and Fantasy next week. In was really hoping to see a Mardi Gras in Galveston cruise :sad2:

Thans Jackie too!

I'm hoping this is how it works out cause I'd rather book a dummy while onboard in October than have to fiddle around with exchange rates etc trying to book before we go then reshop.

I'm sure someone confirmed this before but do we just say "our TA is Dreams Unlimited" or do we need to give more info than this when we book our dummy date onboard?
