2013 dates

I think the chance will be very slim. Unless you are willing to do a TA cruise. I do not think the Magic will go to Greece to much unrest there right now.

I would think there would be a good chance, because Adventures by Disney has added Greece 2012, guess we will all have to wait and see..

Am thinking they are going to keep us guessing till the end of October???

True, there is unrest right now, but Disney will not be going to Greece until summer 2013. That is a long ways away, and anything can happen between now and then. Plus, as the other poster stated, ABD has trips booked, so I think it is a good inticator. That, and the surveys DCL sent out. I think with those factors, it is a strong possibility.

Also just to point out again that Greece is in political unrest. This is a lot different to other countries! The country is angry with its politicians and tourism is the only thing keeping the country together. It's not like people are attacking tourists! No cruise lines have cancelled cruises to Greece because of the fact they are protesting against their government! It is as safe a country as any other and I think perhaps the American press have gone way too harsh on this one - having not seen it I don't know.

Really? And has that unrest affected tourists or is it the same as the "sit in" that happened this weekend in Atlanta, GA over our econonmic mess!

I don't think the American Press has been 'harsh' I think most people are paying very little attention. They just scan the headlines, hear about "issues" in Greece and go from there.

But if DVC can only go to places with NO issues... they may have to go out of business. I don't think the US qualifies :)

I really hope that DCL does not wait until April 2012 (from rumor) to release 2013 dates & prices....does give much time for families to book/plan or pay for cruises.
My plan was to book 2 cruises with DCL for 2013 but DCL has taken so long I booked with RC for 1 of them because of pricing. I'm sure I will have a good time on RC (first time) but I was looking forward to going on the Magic & Fantasy for 2013....

:goodvibes( inside tip ) I booked RC (Dec 2012) because I still do want Disney but for the great price I got for RC...:confused3...I don't know. Hoping the pricing crazy for the Fantasy!

I hope DCL hurries up!

I too am waiting for DCL to release 2013 itineraries. We have a deposit we want to move since we decided to sail RC for our 25th anniversary instead of the cruise aboard the Fantasy we had booked for that trip. You'll really enjoy your RC experience. No, it's not Disney, but that is sort of the point.

Do you think that Disney will extend its contract out in LA or will they move the Wonder someplace else?

Once my cruise passes :goodvibes I am glad to be going there BUT since I think they are having problems with sales maybe they are sorting out the details and thinking of moving the Wonder. I don't know?

I know ALOT of people on here want Europe. That would be a dream, although my little one is still too little to experience that. We have lots of time;)

I know that the Fantasy & Dream are staying at Port Canaversal for quite some time...so I am assuming they are the 2 ships that are doing western/eastern Caribbean. Everyone wants to go on the 'newer' ships. I'll go on any Disney cruise ship!

I wouldn't call it unrest. Its just people going out on strike. It happens all the time in Greece,France Spain and Italy and is very common and has been going on for years. Usually around bank holiday time. Air traffic controller, transport staff and farmers (in France) take industrial action. It usually happens when the Governments change a law and upset the workers. There's a large public workers strike planned here in the UK towards the end of Nov, if it goes ahead. This is because the Government are changing the rules for Public Sector Pensions. But its not unrest.

Unrest is like in Lybia or Egypt, when there are tanks on the streets etc.

True but I'm not sure that I would want to go to a country or a region where this is possible. Greece is in a bit of chaos.

If the rumor about waiting till April for dates and prices is really true, now I am really depressed :sad2:

We cruised the Greek isles departing from Venice, this past May. We cruised on NCL and it was fantastic! We both thought the only thing that could make the cruise better would be a Disney ship!

Agreed 100% - It just wasn't Disney! We loved Venice and would love to go back on the Magic.

We just got back from a 12 night RCCI cruise and visited Greece (Athens and the island of Rhodes) about 2 weeks ago and experienced no problems there and felt very safe. The economy isn't the best in much of Europe now, which seems to be leading to various strikes, but we saw no demonstrations of any kind. We were also in Turkey, Malta, Rome & Sicily. The only "disruption" we noticed was an air traffic control strike in the UK for 24hrs and approx. 5-7hrs of strikes in Rome, where places such as the Colosseum and the Forum were closed and metro service was stopped for that time frame. Towards the end of our stay in Rome, we noticed their police force was more like a swat team with rifles around, but traveling around NYC, we see that in the subways frequently. Basically, I think it was just precautionary. Hopefully, things will settle down over time in Greece and tourism will not be affected.
