We are planning to go to SW when there is a good chance of rain in the forecast and I was wondering if the shows/rides still operate? I understand lightning will close things but what about straight rain?

Thanks!!!

I wouldn't expect it to rain all day. The rain in the forecast for this coming week is somewhat tropical which means it will blow in and then out rather quickly. So you may get sun, then rain, then sun, then rain, then sun, then rain on and off all day. I wouldn't expect the rain to be severe. The only way rides will close will be due to lightning or heavy winds. I wouldn't expect any lightning with these storms, however it could get very windy.

All shows have covered seating so that won't be an issue. And shows go on unless there is lightning only. But even then, the shows will not be flat out cancelled. Rather they do a show hold and wait about 15-20 minutes to see if the lightning clears out. If it does, the shows starts as normal. If not, the show is unfortunately cancelled for that time slot. Pets Ahoy and A'lure are indoor theaters. So they aren't affected by weather at all. Even if it is lightning. Either one of these two shows would be a great place to get out of the rain and enjoy watching a show while doing so.

Exhibits should be opened no matter what. Although it may be suggested, from a Seaworld employee, for you to take cover in a shop or indoor exhibit if it gets too severe.

So my post above is going to end up being totally wrong. Its much rainier than I thought it would be. Sorry about that.

Not really-we did Sea World yesterday in the rain. We went into the indoor attractions when it rained (Lunch, sharks, allure show) and then when it stopped we did some outside stuff (like meet the alpaca).

Today looks like an all day rain event of varying levels. But grab a poncho and head to a show. I don't know how much Trick or treating will be going on... But the Shamu show has a roof, Wild Artic is inside, Pets Ahoy and the Sesame Show are inside, Allure and the Sharks are all inside.
