My DH and I are heading to the parks for Halloween, which is our anniversary. we are both very excited. Last year was the first year we had been back in a couple years. So, I went a little over board in making PS arrangements.
It seemed like we spent most of our 4 days running from one meal to the next. Our trip was exhausting and not less fun than it could have been.

This year we are flying down to Orange County instead of LAX on October 27th. we decided to fly into Orange County for two reasons. First, well, it is closer to the park. :rotfl2: Second reason is because I really dislike LAX and it stresses me out. We want to be relaxed. We will be at the airport about 11am, so I expect to be at the hotel to check in noonish.

We are staying at the Carousel Inn. We have never stayed there before, so this will be a first. We usually stay at Tropicana, but we got a 4th night free at Carousel. We are not picky, we just need a place to sleep, shower, and stow our stuff. ;)

My DH has said he would like to ride the train as soon as we pass through the turnstiles and here the "prrring!". Since his favorite ride is closed for refurb, I think that is fair.

Friday, we are planning to hit ElecTRONica while the Halloween party is happening at DL. DH loved TRON, and loved ElecTRONica last year.

Saturday morning, I am making DH get up early so we can do Magic Morning at 7am. (Not too much celebrating at ElecTRONica! :lmao:) and then we are going to head over to Goofy's Kitchen for breakfast at 9:30am. We have not been for breakfast at GK in years.
Saturday evening we have reserved seating for F! for the first showing. This is a tradition for us. It is a taste of Disney that we both love.

Sunday is pretty open for us until the evening when we have a PS for Big Thunder BBQ. We tried this place last year in our trip of too many PS's and really liked it. DH loved all the meat they kept bringing, and I enjoyed all the sides and the veggie option. Plus, we really liked that we could take the left overs with us! This year, I will make sure to get an extra veggie skewer so I can take it back to the room with me. Last year, that is what DH ate after the Halloween party when we were starving and sugared out. :rotfl: That is the plan for this year as well.

Monday is Halloween and our 3rd wedding anniversary. We have a PS at Carnation Cafe for breakfast at 9am. That evening we are attending the Halloween Party. Last year I was obsessed with trick or treating. This year, I plan to just enjoy the evening. I feel like we missed so much last year.

Tuesday will be our last day in the Park. We will do whatever we want and say goodbye to all of our favorite things. At the end of our trips, I always say good bye when I walk out.

Wednesday we fly home again out of Orange County.

DH and I will be making a list of things that we want to do, but not schedule. If we can do it, we will, if not..its okay as well.
I am hoping to get on the list to ride in Walt's Car on the train. I would also like to see WOC since have not seen it other than walking by so far. I am thinking of starting one morning at DCA and getting a FP.

I have things I need to get together in the next few weeks before our trip. Most importantly, shoes. we have a pair of running shoes to take, but I am hunting for good arch support flip flops to wear when my feet swell (as they will definately do). I have the pet sitter set up and an automatic feeder on the way since the pet sitter will only be coming once a day to feed the kitties, and they get dry a couple times a day.

I have an appointment to get my hair colored in 2 weeks so the purple is fresh and vibrant for our trip. Yes, I have purple hair. :upsidedow

We are very excited. I am making a little calendar of the things we have planned, and we will have a list to take with us that we can cross off when we get back to the room. The most important thing for us this trip is to relax, enjoy just being at DLR and with each other. LOL..and eating all the tasty Disney food.

Sounds like it will be a great trip! We flew into Orange County for the first time last week (finally able to get a direct flight there from Calgary) and it was a million times better than LAX. We took the Disneyland Express and were at our hotel less than 1 hour after landing. Looking forward to hearing about your trip! :)

I used to fly into SNA as well when in previous years. It is so much easier. We are using the Disneyland Express as well.

And thank you. :)

My list is getting checked off in order to be ready for our trip.

1. This past weekend, DH and I went shoe shopping. I lucked out and got 2 pairs of shoes for our trip, so I have 3 pairs of shoes to take. I got a pair of Teva's and a pair of men's Nike flip flops. I have decided that I should just stick with men's shoes. First, they fit my feet better/more comfortable (I have wide toes) and 2. they are cheaper!

2. Today, our travel package from Costco/WDTC arrived!!!!:banana::cool1::cool1: It was delivered to my DH at his work since he had to be signed for. So, I had to wait until he got home to see it. Having it hand makes the trip real. Everything else has been just paper. Now we have actual park hopper tickets.

3. Tomorrow I get to go to the post office to pick up the automatic pet feeder for the cats that the mail man would not leave on the porch for some reason. We still have a pet sitter coming every evening, but this will feed the kitties a couple of times during the day, so that one of our cats does not gorge.

Now it is time to start making a list of what I need to make sure to pack, and then load up my Kindle and ipod for when I cannot sleep and DH is out (happens all the time). :rotfl2:

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!!

I feel like I could have written part of your post! :)

My 1st wedding anniversary is next Saturday, and my DH and I are heading out on Friday to The Land. My DH has never been, so I kinda went all out in planning.

Friday we're doing the Halloween Party, we're also staying at PPH, and I scheduled an in room celebration for our arrival, the From Mickey and Minnie with love, I had them add mouse ears with our names on them, and I let the vacation planner know it was my DH's first visit and they are going to have an autographed picture of Mickey waiting for him!

Saturday, I'm also making my DH get up early, LOL...we're just going to explore Disneyland, and then maybe rest at the room...I booked the Fantasmic! dessert package for the second showing...

Sunday, I think we're also going to do the whole elecTRONica thing, my DH also loved Tron...we're looking forward to some dancing, some gaming at Flynn's and glow in the dark drinks!!

Goofy's Kitchen on Monday night...and then just relaxing and doing whatever...

Yay! I am so excited!!!

Congrats on your 3rd anniversary. DH and I and DD will be there celebrating our 20th anniversary! This will only be our 2nd time going to DL, so we are really excited. DD was 2 the last time we went, so she is really excited too. She just turned 9.

Kristan, that sounds like so much fun!! And it does sound much like my own trip. I hope you guys have a great time. I am looking forward to our trip so much. The glow drinks are pretty tasty if they are the same from last year. We did not get the glasses, just the glow cubes.

I enjoy just exploring too. No real plan, just go where it seems like fun and people watching. :)

I can't wait to hear about your trip!

Congrats on your 20th!! And on your second trip to DL.
My DH and I have been together for almost 11 years in total (took us awhile to get married), and we have been going down every year for 10 years (we had two years we did not make it down during that time), every year for Halloween.

Are you going to be there for Halloween?

Thanks! No, we will be there starting next week for our anniversary. We have made 30+ trips to WDW, but only our 2nd to DL. Enjoy!

I just took out our luggage, so it's starting to feel a bit more real at this point!!:cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

It will still be Halloweentime. :D I know you will have a wonderful time!
We have not been to WDW yet. One of these days we will make the trip across country.

Woohoo!!!:cool1::cool1:
I am making my lists on what to pack and what I need to get to take down. I pull my luggage out all ready. But that was to show DH his costume idea would take too much room up. :rotfl2:

My vacation begins at 2pm on Tuesday:woohoo:, and our trip to DL starts a week from today. :cool1:

I have bought everything we need, except maybe more batteries for the camera, but I think we have enough.

I only have 3 work days left, I have a lot of things I need to get ready before I leave. But I think I am going to be good position so that I will not be stressed out when I get back.

I have some housework to do so that I come home to a clean house, and also so that my pet sitter comes into a clean house (as long as the cats keep it that way). I also need to check in with my pet sitter. I need to meet up with her to go over what has changed since last year (we had a 4th cat then that has since passed of old age..she was 27! :scared1:). And of course, I have to give her a means to get into the house. :rotfl:We have a great pet sitter. She used to work for my vet as a vet tech. She did an amazing job last year when our old cat was not doing exceptionally well. I have given her permission that if something happens with my babies, to take them to my vet, who she knows really well.

So, I have some stuff to do. But not a lot. Packing will not actually happen until Wed. I have to do laundry first. :) But, I am getting my lists together so I do not forget anything. One for my carryone and one for my checked bag.

I was thinking this morning that I think Friday might end up a 1/2 DCA day. I was thinking that we could sleep in a little, and head over about 9:30am and head to DCA, get FP for WOC, have breakfast at Taste Pilots (I really want to try their breakfast burritos). And then we can ride TSMM. I have not ridden this yet since the line is always so long and by the time we are over there, I am not willing to wait 40 mins in the sun. :/ Well, neither is my DH. He is not into waiting in line at all, he has been spoiled with only going in off season. :rotfl:
And we can ride Soarin' and Little Mermaid as well, and check out the lay out at the viewing area for WOC. We skipped it last year because it was such a chaotic mess (it seemed). I am going to be bringing a printed copy of the map so I can figure out about where the sections are.

And then I am thinking to head to DL for a bit, have some lunch (not sure where yet) and head back to the hotel about 3-4ish..before the party guests start to come in. I know it is going to be crazy and we are not going to the party that night. After a nap/break in ouor room, then we will head back to DCA about 6-6:30 ish for ElecTRONica, maybe dinner, and maybe WOC.

Friday really is our best night for WOC. Thursday, I don't want to plan anything. I want to just take in the vibes. :goodvibes
My DH suggested Tuesday night to end our trip. I said that would be kinda nice, but I want out last night to be in DL. We might be able to do it Sunday, but I am not sure. And we will be in DCA Friday night anyway. So, why not see it then?

We are back home. I will do a trip report in a couple of days. But, I realized that 6 days is a long time, but if you take a too relaxed approach, then you still don;t get it all in. :/
We came home to one car having a coolant leak that needs a fix ASAP and a broken garage door spring that needs to be fixed (and until it does, my car is trapped in the garage..and it is the one without a leak).

I will say that we will not be staying at the Carousel Inn again. It was not bad, but not great either. The rooms were very small, the bathrooms looked updated, but not really (rusted drains, missing grout). The beds were comfy to my DH, but too soft for me. The towels were old, but not ratty.

We had a great time. The party was a blast. We got more than enough candy from only a few treat trails (having it be our anniversary helped!). :rotfl:

We had some awesome encounters with characters and cast members. :cool1:

For now, I need to deal with garage spring. We have no food in the house.

We did not bust out any cameras until almost the end of the trip. I kept forgetting it in the room. I will get them uploaded this weekend and post them later regardless how few I have,

Anyway...We got up early on Thursday the 27th to finish packing and head to the airport. I don't eat before we fly because I can get "traveler's stomach". We headed to the airport, and took a shuttle to our new terminal. it is supposed to be easy to get around in, but I don't think it was easy, but it was big.
Our flight was on time and we got into John Wayne a little early. Got out luggage and made the Disneyland Resort Express. There was not a lot of traffic, the bus stopped at California Grand, DLH, Sheraton, and then our stop.

We got to Carousel Inn about 12:30pm. There were two families trying to check in before us and it seemed like it was not going as they had planned. I knew our rooms more than likely would not be ready, which was the case. We checked in, gave them our luggage to store and headed over to DL before 1pm. I thought we ate at Zoccolo, but looking at my notes, we got sandwiches at River Belle Terrace. DH loved his pork sandwich. My veggie Po' Boy was too sweet and I barely ate anything but the bread. No wonder I forgot about it. :/

We got FP's for HMH, BTMR, and ST. We road the train around the park, and then we road Jungle Cruise. Our skipper was young and not very good. Several times he said that he had nothing for that. He did not even mention Bertha in the shower. :( It was sad. We also hit, Indy (30 min wait), Mr Toad, and Snow White. By then, I was getting pretty hungry, so we had a wonderful dinner at Zocolo. DH had chicken tacos and I had a veggie tostada salad. It was delicious and very filling. After dinner we used our FP's, and loved the new ST. We got Vader and the pod raises. DH thought it was always going to be the pod races..lol..he was in for a surprise. :D

By this time, it was a little after 7pm. I was very tired. Our feet hurt since we had our flip flops for the flight on still and they were not good for being on ones feet. We left the park, and went back to the hotel. We went to the lobby, got our room key, and our luggage. Our room was 424..in the back. In fact, there was only one room after ours on our floor in the main building. We trudged down to the room with and as soon as we opened the door, DH said he hated the room. I did not get pictures, I wish I had.

The room was very small. it had 2 double beds, an armoir that held the TV, 4 drawers under the TV on one side (TV was an older CRT). On the other side was a cabinet with the microwave, then a cabinet with the safe, and a 3rd cabinet with a decent size fridge. Next to the armoir, there was a very small table with a lamp that did not work and 2 small chairs. There is no way to use the table or really sit there since there was not enough room to pull the chairs out. It was obvious that the table and chair was to say that it was there, but not to be used. There was a small end table between the 2 beds with a phone and alarm clock. The bed by the bathroom was about 1 foot from the wall, so only one way into it. The beds had a very thick pillow top on it and nice bedding. The bed was too soft for me, but DH liked it.

The bathroom was small. The toilet and shower/tub were separate from the counter sink. The tub was too small for anyone but a small shower to take a bath and the water pressure was almost none existent in the shower. The toilet however was super powered! The counter was a nice black granite. Sadly, the drain in the sink was rusting. And the counter was very small and held the coffee maker. There was not any spare room after DH and I unpacked our travel sized toiletries on the counter. In the shower, there was missing grout around some of the tiles.

There was a tiny closet next to the counter in the bathroom. It had two sliding doors, but one is behind the counter and you cannot get to it. The side you could get in had the ironing board, but no iron. There were 2 extra pillows and blankets on the shelf in the closet. There was only room to put one our our suitcases in the closet. It was very tiny.

There was no information in the room except for the extensions to call the front desk, housekeeping (which is useless...), and Quiznos. No phone book, info on airlines, ect that I normally find at hotels around the park.

One last note on the room during the trip. There was 2 nights we did not get any service, we were out of the room the entire morning and early afternoon and they never made it in. When we called, they said they don't do any service after 5pm, so they could not do anything. Not that I needed my bed made by them (I already straightened it), but I was confused as to why they did not do it that day.

This day, we unpacked, showered (since a bath is not possible). we called it a night.

I will write more on the trip later. :) My cats want attention.

Friday I was up earlier than I planned to be since we intended to start in DCA. We got over to the gates before 9:30 and had to wait. Once in, we got FP for Soaring and WoC, then had breakfast at Taste Pilots. We both got breakfast burritos and really liked them. And then over to TSMM. Drew was unthrilled by the 35 min wait. We have never done this ride before because he doesn't like to wait. But he really liked it once we did and I am sure he will wait again as long as it is not too hot out!
Next we road Mickey's Sunwheel, another first. It was neat. Nothing super amazing, but we liked it No, we did not do the swining gondolas. Drew is not a thrill seeker and I have to do screaming alone if I do it. Next we wandered over to the new restaurants to see what they had and the new area. We were not hungry, but we wanted to see. We got FP for Goofy's. We then checked out briefly Paradise Park so we knew what to expect for WOC. We have skipped it last year, and decided we didn’t want to miss it this year. :) We then we road Ariel’s, which was a walk on. It was cute, but note something that we would wait in lines for.
By now, we were getting hungry, so we opted for Lucky Fortune. DH had mandarin orange chicken and I had teriyaki tofu. There were only two pieces of tofu and the sauce was sweet. The bottom of the rice was not fully cooked and still crunchy. Definitely not my favorite meal and I think we will skip it next time. After lunch, we were a little frustrated with the construction for DCA and decided to head to DL. I picked up the Halloween votive holders and was bummed that the Evil Queen shirt I wanted was only in children’s sizes. :( I decided I needed a pumpkin spice latte, and we then we headed back to the room to rest and get out of the sun.
Once we got back to the room, we made a PS for Café Orleans for Halloween night since that was our anniversary. We were going to skip having an anniversary dinner, but once we were in the park, we wanted to celebrate with dinner as well (and seeing the pomme frites helped with that decision).
About 6pm, we headed over to DCA and to Electronica. DH got a free token for Flynn’s when we got our Goofy’s FP’s and he used that and played in the arcade while I had a cocktail. After a little bit, we headed over and used our FP for Goofy’s. That ride is better at night. :) And then we realized we needed to have dinner, so on the recommendation of folks here, we headed to White Water Snacks and shared some nachos. By the time we got done eating, it was 10mins to WOC, we thought we would have to skip it again, but when we got over there, we found a perfect spot in the back, by a rail in the Blue Section. We loved it! It was wonderful not having to wait forever as well. We had planned to head back to Electronica to see Laserman, but we were both getting very tired and we intended to get up for MM on Saturday,so we called it a night.

I woke up a little before 6am and started getting ready. I wanted to be at the gates by 6:45 at the latest, but DH is a grumpy guy that early. But we made it by 6:50 and only had one family in front of us at the turnstile. :) Once in the park, we went straight to Peter pan, which was almost a walk on, then Alice and the bobsleds, which were walk on. Then DH wanted to ride GGSM, so we did. But then he called break on big rides so we did buzz and got
FP's for star tours. He cannot handle a lot of “fast” rides in a row. We road HMH and jungle cruise, then took the monorail to DTD for breakfast at Goofy's. No pictures yet as we keep forgetting the camera. Before breakfast, we wandered about the hotel and were sad the water falls are gone. :(

We used one of the premium character meal vouchers that we got from our Costco package and paid the difference instead of losing $16 by using both. We had a nice leisurely breakfast and chatted with Chip and Dale, Brear Bear, Pluto and the Fairy Godmother. FG asked me the key to a happy marriage (we told her the trip was for our wedding anniversary), and I said for him to realize I am always right, and she liked that. Jasmine came in as we were leaving.
One of the times I went to get food, I came back to find Chip was in my seat. Lol. All of our character interactions were funny and great.

After breakfast, we headed back to DL and got FP's for BTR and HMH. Then had to go to main street to get coffee (only Blue Ribbon has soy), then hung out in French Market drinking our drinks and listening to the jazz band for a bit. I got my popcorn coffin and we decided the park was getting to be busy enough a break was needed. So, we got FP’s to Indy and headed out, stopping at Guest services for our F! reserved seating tickets.

We returned to the park at 6pm and it was packed! We used our star tours FP's then made our way to see about check in for F! They said 7:55pm and were not even set up. So, we went back to Zoccolo for dinner and then I realized I was Mexican fooded out. :( After we ate, we went back to stand in line to check in. It was way too crowded with the people to see the Mansion. It looked like this massive flow of people to Critter Country. In fact, you have to walk all the way to Critter Country and turn around to go the other direction. There were many CM’s directing traffic.
They finally started the check in process inside the area where we would be sitting. And would start seating at 8:20. So, we hung out on a wall that they keep clear for F!, a CM came to tell us we had to move, until I told him that we were just waiting for our seats in the reserved section. He left us alone. But then other people kept sitting on the wall, so decided to make his job easy and went to the reserved seating earlier than needed. We got in right away and got our boxes. They were the same as previous years. Still tasty. We watched Wishes before F! from our seats. One of the perks to the seating in my opinion. As always, F! was amazing.
After the show was ever, we had to make our way into the mass of people to find bags for our treat boxes. We never eat them all at one sitting. We were told by the store that gave us the bags if we had been 10 mins earlier, they could have held them for us up to park closing. But they just stopped their package holding service. But they told us to take them to Newstand at the gates and they would hold them for us, so, we took the time and effort to make our way up to the Newstand, to be told they cannot hold food items, and they told us to get a locker. But, all the lockers that would hold them were taken. So, we had wasted over an hour and were getting annoyed. We wanted to keep going, so I decided I could hold onto them on rides. We used our FP’s for BTR, DH loves it at night. The train was stopped briefly at the first rise because a couple splashed each other from the water fall. After BTr we hit the HMH with our FP's. It still was a 20 min wait and a decent stall in the hallway. After that, it was after 11 pm and we called it a night. We still had FP's for Indy, but I could not handle the bag with our dessert boxes and a backpack on the ride. I wanted to give the FP's to someone, but there were not any couples heading toward it. We headed out of the park and back to our room. Way in the back of the hotel….. (yes, we were tired).

Sunday ended up being a day of rest for us. We didn't make it into the park until about 11am and hunted for something to eat. We ended up at Hungry Bear where I had a veggie burger and DH had a chicken sandwich. It was okay, nothing special. We got FP's for Star Tours and Indy. We tried to ride the Mark Twain, but it was having difficulties. So we went to do the Tikiroom and ran into our friend/my hair dresser. They were at the park for her daughter’s 4th birthday.
Then we just relaxed in the park and took in the sites. Finally road the Mark Twain, but then the heat and crowd drove us back to our room. We took a nap and hide from the sun. We returned to the park at 6pm. Wandered to the BT Ranch but it was closed. We checked in for our dining reservations at BTRBBQ. We had a wonderful dinner, even if my veggie option came at the end of the meal. :/ We did some shopping, and tried to use our Indy FP's, but it was down. We watched Captain EO and road Star Tours, then called it a night since it was after 11pm.

Halloween, our anniversary!
Halloween morning we hot into the park at 8:45, and went up to the train to see if the Lilly Belle was running and got a spot for 2pm. Then we headed over to City Hall and got our anniversary buttons at city hall, and then went for our tradition PS at Carnation Cafe at 9am. The food was good as always for breakfast.
After breakfast, we got a photo taken at the giant Mickey and then we road the horse drawn carriage down Main Street, which we have never done. The conductors hammed it for Halloween, which was awesome! We road Pinoccho, then got coffee for DH and a pretzel for me and we sat and watched a session of Jedi academy.
We went over to Big Thunder Ranch to look at the pumpkins and the animals. The goats had on costumes, which was very cute. DH was getting hungry, so we went and got him a corn dog (his first from the Red Wagon) and me another pretzel (I love pretzels!) It was about time for the Lilly Belle so we headed down Main Street to the train station. The ride on LillyBelle was nice. Our conductor on the ride was not terribly knowledgeable and mostly just stood there. He gave us the keepsake tickets, had us sign the book, and that was about it. It was still a nice treat for our anniversary.
After our tour around the Happiest Place on Earth, it was time for a nap. We went back to room to get out if the heat and take a nap before the party.

We hot dressed in our costumes and headed back to the park at 5:30. We had dinner at Cafe Orleans. I had Salad de Maison, DH had the gumbo and we split Pomme Frittes. I forgot how much I loved the pomegranate lemonade! I think I had 3 or 4 of them during dinner! I had the Mickey Demitasse and DH had Jack's Coffin Cake, both were very tasty. After we ate, the party was going well. We did a couple of treat lines, and took some pictures around NOS. Then we went to Main Street, watched the lights and got a picture taken on the other side of Mickey. We took pictures around the party and did a few more treat trails. I loved what they did behind Big Thunder! I loved the sounds and lighting.
We watched a little of the parade from the loading side of the Matterhorn and picked a space to watch the fireworks from around Small World. We did not want to deal with the crowds in front of the Castle. The projections on IASM during the fireworks were neat. Jack looked a little odd on the face of the IASM, but it was okay. :) We wandered around the park a little more left about 10:30 or so. We had a wonderful time at the party, even if it was pretty busy. :)
It was a lovely anniversary and Halloween, but we were pooped.
