I hope you guys can help me decide on this one.

Should we do the dessert party on a MVMCP night or a night without the party? We would be attending the party on the 16th of Dec.

Thanks, I love all the info on these boards:thumbsup2

I would do it on anon-party night. The dessert party is off-set front the center of the castle. On the special ticket party nights the fireworks use perimeter fireworks bursts that look much better from the front of the castle or main street. Plus the crowds are smaller on Party nights so the party reserved seating benefit is minimized.

Just my two cents …

Totally agree with the previous poster. I would figure out the night that the park is busiest (that you had already planned on being at MK) and do that night. IF you have park hoppers, it is also a nice way to end an Animal Kingdom Day. Spend the day at AK, rest a bit, then head over to MK for the dessert party.

We chose Christmas Eve. I don't get the reports on attendance, but I am assuming it is a busy day. Plus it seems very "special" to me on that night.

I would enjoy the parties separate. Have a great time!!!!:cool1:

Thank You for your replies. The party on the 16th, I was told would be a sell out. does this make a difference?

I hope not! We'll be at MK on the 16th too but I haven't decided whether or not to do the party. Was it a CM who told you that?

Shouldn't make much of a difference; it will feel crowded at the hub but no where near how it is on a regular park night.

I thought I read somewhere on the board that they don't do the Dessert Party on special party nights, like MVMCP or MNSSH nights. Does anyone know if that's correct, or am I just making stuff up now after spending way too much time on the DIS lately? :confused3

You can reserve 7, 8, 8:30 or 9 on the night of 12/16. How does that work? There is only one fireworks show I presume. Do you only get to sit at the table for a short amount of time?:confused3

When you book online they offer you times for 7pm 8pm 8:30pm, and 9pm because Wishes is different times during the month. There is also a blank area that you can use as a default.

December 16th. is a party night. That means that the fireworks are at 9:30 that night. Instead of the usual 1 hour that they do bookings, they do approximately 1hour and 15mintues. So you will get times between 8:20 and 9:00pm ish. The makes the times all approximately 1 hour to 30 minutes prior to the party.

I used all of the choices the onlne system, and the earlies I could get was 8:20pm. Now this does not mean they will open the doors right then, but I would take the earliest reservation you could get.

On normal nights on the exact hour 9pm or 10pm, I would always recommend putting in the blank or 1 hour before time.

Hope this helps you a little.

The week that we are there in October they are not running Wishes Dessert Party the same night as the MNSHHP.

The ADR "times" for the Wishes Dessert Party are totally imaginary.

The ADR system insists on treating this like a regular restaurant and staggers the times throughout the evening. Ignore the times. The only question is whether you have an ADR for that night's party or not. If you do, then no matter what your ADR time is, you have a reservation for the one and only Party of the night and it starts at the same time for everybody attending.

The Party starts 1 hour before the fireworks. Go to the podium and check in about 10-15 minutes before the Party starts; then they rapidly seat all the checked-in guests at the 1 hour mark. Do not show up 2 hours early or half an hour late just because of your ADR time. Waiting outside the Party for 2 hours before it starts does not get you a better table - tables are assigned in order that the reservations are made - and defeats the whole purpose of having a great seat for the fireworks without having to waste hours of park time holding down a spot on Main St. Showing up late just means you're paying for Party time that you're not using.
