Why Not Just Queue Up Another Disney Trip? Link to New TR 6/24 p136!

I'm anxious to read your Williamsburg report to see what you thought of the place. The 'Burg is one of our favorite places & we are due to go back soon. It is so much fun to talk with the people that work there. We do the same sorts of things in our local area.

I'm fairly knowledgeable about historical clothing, so really like those exhibits. My proudest moment was to be invited to cook in the Randolph House kitchen. I wasn't able to go, but I loved being invited!

Oh, this is going to be fun, I can already tell! We love Williamsburg and that whole area. DH's family (well some of them) are down there and we visit every so often.
I'm really excited to hear about HHI - as we hope to get there one of these years!

You are just the queen of scoring good rates!!:worship:

WOO HOO! Welcome Leslie!
Welcome Cynthia my former & future roomie!
Actually - wait - I think your bag is so magical that it calculates the usuable space FOR You! Right! ;)

Thanks for joining in! I will start posting W-burg pics very soon!

I wish! I had challenges with it last weekend, it's really not nearly as magical if you have to pack boots. Definitely constrains the number of shoes it can hold.

:rotfl:

Score on the HHI rate - that's awesome!! :woohoo:

Looking forward to hearing about Williamsburg since I've never been there and I love historical places, which is probably why I enjoyed Charleston so much.

I'm joining in for the adventure :) I know what you mean about needing another vacation in the queue, it makes it much easier to come back home knowing there's another one on the horizon. I joined DVC this year and it seems to have upped my vacation obsession ten fold. I have to admit I haven't done any research on HHI, looking forward to hearing about it.

:woohoo: on the HHI nightly rate!! That is awesome! :cool1:

Looking forward to hearing more about Williamsburg.

I love how your mind works...is it the name? Your GF weekend plans progress the way a lot of my trips go - you just never know where you're going to end up when you get started:lmao: Keeps life interesting right?

Mind you, I am reading DIS while working, popping in and out as files save & update. so I read, popped off, popped back in, scrolled up thinking "White mountains? they are no where near Williamsburg. She did say Williamsburg, right?":rotfl::rotfl:

Can't wait to see how it rolls out!!

I was really hoping to start today, but it seems that the day has gotten ahead of me. I always think I can do 100 things on one of my days off, but it never happens. I'm lucky if I do 5 or 6. :rotfl:

Well - as you know - I picked a day at Busch Gardens over doing the History stuff. It was weird because I didn't think I wanted to go there, but then the idea of being in a theme park on a fabulous day with no lines was just more than I can resist. :rotfl:

I'm fairly knowledgeable about historical clothing, so really like those exhibits. My proudest moment was to be invited to cook in the Randolph House kitchen. I wasn't able to go, but I loved being invited!

That is so cool! When I go back I am definitely spending two full days in the historic district. I am going to tour anything and everything I can. I think I would like to head down there again around the same time next summer. The week before labor day is a fabulous time to travel. If I could figure out a way to go back sooner, I would.

Oh, this is going to be fun, I can already tell! We love Williamsburg and that whole area. DH's family (well some of them) are down there and we visit every so often.

Williamsburg was wonderful. I could easily spend a week there. You should have seen all the agendas I found on the internet (for longer trips) and I would have loved to do each one of them. So - 3 nights was not nearly enough, but I definitely want to go back next summer in late August of early September.

I'm really excited to hear about HHI - as we hope to get there one of these years!

I actually tried to book my very first DVC trip there, but it was summer and there were no 1 bedrooms at 7 months out. Apparently the resort is very heavy with two bedrooms, which makes sense considering its a "beach" vacation. I am really looking forward to it and I hope that I want to go back with Denny the fall that Nick goes away to school. It will be a nice vacation for our first "empty nest" vacation.

You are just the queen of scoring good rates!!:worship:

I got that rate right at 7 months, so I think that's the key! Just remember - the rates drop the last week of October, but the points dont!!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo:So excited that you started!! I have to go back and read but I am here!!

Welcome Jacquie!!!! I am so glad you are here to go in!!!! Now go back and catch up. You haven't missed any "good" stuff yet! ;)

I wish! I had challenges with it last weekend, it's really not nearly as magical if you have to pack boots. Definitely constrains the number of shoes it can hold.

:rotfl:

Are you saying that if you put a pair of boots in there you can NOT pack 8 more pairs of shoes????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! :rotfl2:

Score on the HHI rate - that's awesome!! :woohoo:

Seriously - that WAS a major score! I'm thrilled about it because it leaves me more points for Disney world. Sometimes its good to use your points and other times - not so much! I am learning that too as I look at some of the RCI trades. Many of them just don't seem worth it. It's cheaper just to pay cash!

Looking forward to hearing about Williamsburg since I've never been there and I love historical places, which is probably why I enjoyed Charleston so much.

Then I think you would really like Williamsburg. I seriously can't wait to go back. It was a really fun place with so much to see and do in the town itself as well as the neighboring towns.

Welcome Pam!!!! Thanks for joining in. I hope you love DVC as much as I need. Yup - it definitely makes you obsess over vacations and point charts and square footage and off season rates and how many people can travel with you, ect. ect.

It's a lot harder to do research on HHI because there isn't as much stuff out there, but the overall consensus is that everyone who visits the resort loves it. Hands down! I hope to have that same experience. I'll let you know soon enough!

I'm here. Figured I'd get in on the ground floor of your TR this time!

Welcome Mark,my Delaware compadre! Thanks for joining in!!!! Have you and your family road tripped it to Williamsburg yet? Stay tuned!

:woohoo: on the HHI nightly rate!! That is awesome! :cool1:

Isn't it great???? I was so happy about that because I really wanted to treat my friends to a longer stay, but since they are only each paying $150 night I think they will be very happy when they see the resort.

Looking forward to hearing more about Williamsburg.

I know I keep saying this, but I really AM going to start soon.

I love how your mind works...is it the name? Your GF weekend plans progress the way a lot of my trips go - you just never know where you're going to end up when you get started:lmao: Keeps life interesting right?

So true, so true. I had a terrible time decided where I wanted to go on this mini-vacation. Disney is easy compared to how much time I spent plotting this adventure. :rotfl:

Mind you, I am reading DIS while working, popping in and out as files save & update. so I read, popped off, popped back in, scrolled up thinking "White mountains? they are no where near Williamsburg. She did say Williamsburg, right?":rotfl::rotfl:

Can't wait to see how it rolls out!!

You are definitely reading correctly. I started out with my heart set on a 3 night trip to the White Mountains of NH, but I realized it was going to be too much travel time and not enough play time. 2 of the days would be devoted to travel. So that was the biggest reason I switched to Williamsburg. That, and we had just dropped my son off at college in the opposite direction of the White Mountains. I was afraid to be 10 plus hours away from him if something went terribly wrong that first weekend.

Hopefully I roll it out a little clearer with my next update!

So I promised an update and I really hope I can get to it today. I had the day off, but sometimes those days are the busiest. Of course, Nick has an afternoon soccer game which is way closer to my place of work then it is to home and I'll be leaving in a few to go there.

Figures I have to drive all the way to Wilmington on my day off. ARGH! :headache: I could miss it, but I'll be missing a game or two for HHI so I need to get my you know what in gear and get moving.

Tonight I have a guitar lesson. Yeah Yeah - I know what you are thinking. Why am I, someone who is almost a senior citizen, taking guitar lessons? Well - Nick has this fab instructor, but if you don't start with him right at the beginning of the year, forget it - no lesson. Nick wants to start back up AFTER soccer, so I offered to take his lesson for two months. It's not as terrible as it sounds though. I do play the guitar, just not at a level past basic open chords. So I am learning to play bar chords and I hoping to learn a little bit of classical picking. I really want to learn Jesus Joy of Man's Desiring (Bach), but I think its WAY outside of my technical zone. We'll see tonight.

So - if I don't get to my first W-burg update, please don't hate me. I'll get it started tomorrow.

Yup - it definitely makes you obsess over vacations and point charts and square footage and off season rates and how many people can travel with you, ect. ect.

Exactly! I've poured over the points charts, and then even though they're memorized go over them again, thinking, if I go to this one then I'll use less points so I can use them on this other trip, and if I go at this time I'll save even more points for next time, ect. ect. And then wondering, who is deserving to go with me, who will appreciate the savings as much as I do? answer, no one. I'll take them anyway, but they just don't understand :rotfl: And then, figuring out my choice, back up choice, and second back up choice call and none are available so have to go with one that wasn't even in the running because it would use up too many points! Oh well, that was only once out of three already planned trips, I've already learned, if you want something, the only guarantee that you're going to get it is if it's at your home resort and only if you call at 9 am. Other than that it's up for grabs!

Sorry, I tend to go on and on. Hope you have a fun guitar lesson :)

You sound exactly like me. For December I was originally going to stay at VWL, but I had to change my dates so all that was available for 5 consecutive nights was OKW. All I could think of was how many points I would save.

I see you have SSR coming up for a December weekend. That was probably the weekend I had originally picked, but had to change. Anyway - I hope you like SSR. It's one of my home resorts and I think its such a pretty place. I look forward to staying there again.

I do have the whole 7 month thing at exactly 9am down to a science. I have been successful everytime! :thumbsup2

Sorry, I tend to go on and on. Hope you have a fun guitar lesson :)

I actually hate going so late at night. I am old and I don't concentrate on new things that well after 7pm. :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about Williamsburg MEK! Sorry you had to cancel your plans for NH! You know, you could have drive up to Long Island, visited me, taken the ferry from here to CT and then driven up to NH! It would have have cut your trip up nicely and made it that much better ;)

Hi hi!! I'm here & can't wait to hear all about it. Your trips sound GREAT!!! so fun!!

Thanks for the heads up about your new TR. I'm so far behind on the DIS. I still need to finish your last TR.:sad2:

I'm curious what your opinion of HHI is. We have done a few trips to Myrtle Beach and I have vowed NEVER to go back. DH is a big golfer. It would be nice to find a place where he can golf. He hasn't golfed Disney yet. I keep telling him to let me book a round for him, but I think he feels guilty about it. Silly Boy. Next time I'm going to surprise him with it.

Yep, that's the trip I had to settle for what they had. I did call at four months, so knew there might be little available, but I didn't think there would only be one option for two consecutive nights. But, after extensive research I know we're going to love SSR. I am now glad I got 'stuck' with it. I had to bite the bullet and rent ten points, oh I didn't like to do that, but I only had enough points for two nights and after realizing how much Christmas stuff there is to see I knew we needed more time, so when I called back and they had the room available another night I just grabbed it.

I've got the 11 month down pat, now I must perfect my 7 month strategy :)

Melissa - what a fabulous idea! I am seriously going to do that they next time I go to New England. I am actually so glad that we didn't go to NH. DISmomAmy said that area got hit pretty hard with rain and flooding. It would NOT have been a fun trip.

I am definitely posting on Williamsburg tonight. I need to get going before I forget the names of everything!

Hope you had fun at the soccer game and your guitar lesson!

Soccer game - YES - they won and it was a beautiful day and a great day for pictures.

Guitar lesson - I struggle and once you get started 1/2hr lesson feels like its over in 10 minutes. Plus - its at 8pm and I am just so tired by then that my brain is so slow. :rotfl:

Hope you enjoy your guitar lesson!!

It's very humbling to sound like you can't play at all. I sound great witht he open chords because I have been doing those for years, but it sounds like beginner 101 when I get to those bar chords. At least I have to give myself props for getting humbled and embarrassed that I sound so bad.
