NEWS FLASH: You must be 4YO to go to Disney! Oct '11 PTR, 10/24 WE'RE BACK! p 18

sorry, i fell a bit behind...
add me to the list of those that really enjoyed tusker house!
great news about your mom!

Yeah! I  AK! I think part of it is because I love AKL so much and because you can easily do this park in one day and not feel pressured to go back. We were there the week they officially opened EE and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. It also made a good argument that sometimes Park Hoppers are necessary. You never knew when EE was running that week so we hopped over a couple of times when the rumors were flying. I think we'll be okay riding it just one day this time. We'll try to ride it as many times as possible though and I'm looking forward to taking my time going through the regular line at least once. I read an article once about the pictures of actual mountain climbers and things that are in there. It almost sounds like a museum dedicated to Mount Everest.

FTBB is awesome but it's been five years since we've been there so don't hold me to it.

Finding Nemo is one of my favorite WDW shows. I cried when we watched it. It's in my list of top five things I'm looking forward to doing again this trip.

I am trying to get excited about Animal Kingdom, but to be honest, if it wasn't for Everest I might skip it! LOL :lmao: OK...not really, but you get the idea.

I think FTBBQ is the one CS restaurant that I am super excited about.

I think I will LOVE the NEMO show!

Your plan is perfect!! We did the 8 am Tusker House ADR too and it worked beautifully! We asked for the check about 10 minutes into the meal so we would be all ready to go. It was perfect!! I think that will be my plan for every trip from now on! You must be getting so excited!!!!

Thank you! I think Tusker House at 8am is going to be PERFECT!!! OMG...I am SO EXCITED! I have a countdown app on my cell phone, so every time I pick it up I am reminded how many more days we have! I can't wait!

Sounds like a great day planned for AK and day 6) :goodvibes The pre-park bfasts are the best and have you ready to go come park opening :thumbsup2 I love EE too, but won't be riding this trip since my DH isn't a thrill rider...so scream/laugh extra loud for me ;)

Sorry you won't be riding Everest this time....I will DEFINITELY scream and laugh for you! I LOVE Everest!

sorry, i fell a bit behind...

great news about your mom!

No worries about falling behind...I did too and it's MY PTR! :rotfl2: I guess that's what happens when you start a new job at work and my DS4 started Pre-K....just WAY too much going on in our house to even think about the DIS! :scared1: Blasphemous, I know!

Finally, I am going to get my Daily Plans wrapped up so we can move on to more fun stuff. I don’t know what the FUN STUFF is yet, but stay tuned…I am trying to make some things happen!

You are probably all wondering at this point what we’re doing on our last day. We have already done 1 day in each park, so NOW WHAT?

Day 7 – EPCOT and MNSSHP – Friday, October 21

Today will be the only theme park day that we don’t get up and to the park for Rope Drop. I’m sure we won’t sleep in (we are all early risers anyway) but there won’t be any alarms set to make it out early. My best guess is that we will arrive at EPCOT somewhere around 10am. We’ll wander around Future World, maybe repeat a few rides, perhaps explore Innoventions some more, or maybe even do characters. We really don’t have a touring plan for our arrival. However, once World Showcase opens at 11:00 that’s where we will be headed. Today is ALL about the Food and Wine Festival!

Food__Wine_Festival_Logo11.jpg

I have printed out the F&WF map and booth list and taken a quick peek at the Disney Food Blog, but I haven’t actually made an official list of all the things I want to try, a touring plan or anything. I’m SOOOO slacking! I guess I need to get on that soon, huh? I know I want a Belgian waffle, Shrimp and Pot Stickers from China, Crème Brulée in France, Ravioli and a Cannoli in Italy, Baklava from Morocco, and the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. OK...so maybe I have looked at it a little more than I thought! :rotfl2:

We don’t have any ADR’s or plans for lunch today, just to enjoy the F&WF and use up our snack credits. Our first day in EPCOT earlier in the week included World Showcase touring, so I am hoping to be able to just eat and move quickly through the WS. I would like to be finished by 1:00 and ready to return to the resort for some rest and relaxation. We have a BIG night ahead of us.

MNSSHP.jpg

We will be attending MNSSHP this night and I am SOOOO excited. I’m definitely glad that we decided to splurge and do this. Caden wants to be a pirate for Halloween this year so I did what any good Disney Loving mom would do and booked an apt at The Pirates League! Caden’s appointment is for 3:15. Since it’s a MNSSHP day and we will be one of the last appointments of the day I fully expect that the League will be running behind and we will have a wait. No big deal! I just ordered this pirate costume from Amazon for Caden. I think it is adorable.

Piratecostume.jpg

The closer it gets, the more I keep thinking that I wish I would have planned to dress up also. I guess it’s not too late, but I really don’t have the extra $$ for a costume for me. I may just grab a witch’s hat or something simple to wear like that. IDK…we’ll see.

I have never been to MNSSHP so I really have NO IDEA what to expect (except for all the wonderful things I have read here of course). After Caden is finished at The Pirates League we’ll probably grab a CS dinner and then decide what we want to do. If Caden wants to meet the Dwarves then we will wait. If not…then we won’t. I definitely want to do the Villians Mix & Mingle, the Boo To You Parade and Hallowishes. We will definitely do some trick or treating and perhaps hit up one of the dance parties. Since I have no experience with the party I think I would rather go with the flow than try to plan the whole night. I think we will definitely shoot for the first parade in case Caden gets tired and cranky, but we’ll stay out as late as we all feel up to it. I am really excited that I get to experience something new at WDW!! I think it’s going to be a GREAT night…and what better way to wrap up our week at WDW, right?

I’ll make the next part of my post short and sweet (more sad :sad2: than sweet)!

Day 8 – Departure Day – Saturday, October 22

Nothing special here…just a SAD SAD day! This is our departure day!! We’ll be exhausted from MNSSHP the night before but the plan is still to get up pretty early (6ish), eat breakfast in the All-Star Movies Food Court, and get on the road to head home. It’s about a 14-15 hour drive, so if we’re on the road by 7:30 it will still be 10 pm or later when we arrive home.

I hate that we will be getting home so late, but on the bright side we will have Sunday to recover, and I am still off work for Fall Break that following Monday so I get an extra day! Something tells me I will be doing WHOLE LOT of laundry that day! :laundy:

Well…that’s it….the end of our daily plans. Keep coming back for more exciting stuff!

OH YEAH….ONLY 35 MORE DAYS until we are IN WDW, but only 34 more until we depart!!:banana::banana:

I love the pirate costume for your DS! Very cute!

A simple costume for you is some mickey ears and a tee-shirt- you can say you are an original mousekateer! Or bring some fairy wings (u can find those cheaply enough) and put on some crazy fun makeup-you can be an easy fairy!

I don't have a day off after my trip but I am thinking about taking the next day off too-I only work a 1/2 day that day so Im not sure it's worth taking off yet. We'll see how I'm feeling.

Mmmm, making me drool talking about F&W! You will LOVE MNSSHP! Going with the flow sounds like a good plan! I would maybe go through one candy station so he can enjoy some candy, but then save the rest of them for the end of the evening. The lines are MUCH shorter at the end of the night! If you watch Hallowishes the first time they show it and then watch the parade, you can spend the last hour or so doing rides with no waits! It really depends on what your goal is for the night. If you don't really HAVE to see lots of characters, going with the flow will be great. We LOVED MNSSHP!

I love that you have a whole afternoon devoted to F&WF. It sounds amazing! I can't wait to start hearing reviews about it, even though we aren't going this year. I was never that interested in it until last year when we were there the day before and everything was set up and I was so sad we weren't going to get to experience that.

Departure day is sad, but I think you are lucky you get to drive. I almost wish we could drive sometime, everytime we fly I am completely wiped out by the time we get through security, it's so much harder with kids! I flew all by myself for a friends wedding this pas spring and I was amazed at how simple and fast everything was without a 3 year old and all the accessories :lmao:

w/ that in mind...they do face painting in the parks and apparently on MNSSHP nights it is free  read about it on some disney blog...but that may be fun for you. or go to your local second hand shop and see if something inspires you...say a Bum or an 80's punk rocker...Matt bought his clothes for less than $20 :thumbsup2

SOUNDS like an AWESOME last full day at WDW! what a great way to finish off the week :goodvibes

Great plans for your last couple days! :thumbsup2 I can't wait for the Food and Wine festival! I was considering printing out the map, but I'll probably just wait and get one there!

I can't wait til MNSSHP either! I love the little pirate costume! I kind of wish I was dressing up too, but I feel kind of dumb since my DH refuses to dress up! :confused3 I might just get some cute cat ears or something and wear those!

Ugh, departure day is the worst!! :sad1:

I always tell the story of how I went out and bought my DH a costume even though he said he wasn't going to dress up for MNSSHP. I got him a cool ghostbusters costume.
He did wear it-because in Disney DHs will do almost anything ;) Well he ended up getting the most comments from people the whole night! People would walk by and hum the ghostbusters theme. People were high fiving him! It was too funny!

The costume came in the mail yesterday and I tried it on him....SOOOOO ADORABLE!

I actually thought about fairy wings for me, but wasn't sure if they would get in the way, moving through crowds, riding rides, etc. I saw some adorable wings at our local Halloween store and I still may pick them up. I would have to get some makeup. Hmmmm....now you have me thinking! :lmao:

Good idea to get some candy early and then do more trick or treating later. I hadn't thought about that at all. I think we will only ride the rides we just HAVE to get in one more time before we leave. I might let Caden pick his favorite(s)! Since MNSSHP will be our LAST night at Disney I hope that we have already met many characters throughout the week and don't HAVE to meet too many more. I think Captain Hook @ the Villains Mix & Mingle will be a must and MAYBE the dwarves. IDK! I really just can't wait to go...regardless of how much we accomplish.

I am like you. I wasn't interested in F&WF until I started reading stuff here on the DIS! :lmao: Silly message boards...giving me one more thing to obsess over! HAHA

I have a coworker who suggested Priceline to get cheap flights but the more I thought about it I think I just want to stick with driving. I like the freedom of having my own car and I don't think I am quite ready to fly with my son just yet. ;)

I have read that face painting at MNSSHP is NO LONGER! :sad2: Oh well....I might print out some face painting examples and try it out on myself. :rotfl2: THAT could be scary!

I printed the map but it's hard to read, which I think is part of the reason I haven't planned much yet.

My DBF refuses to dress up, but he is going to wear a Nightmare Before Christmas T-Shirt so I guess I won't complain TOO much! :rolleyes1 My mom is going to "sort of" dress up. She's wearing a pirate like peasant top and I think a skirt...IDK. And a big Gold hoop earring. I think I may get some fairy wings. We'll see!

Not a whole lot to report as far as trip planning goes, but I do have a few exciting things to share.

I finally purchased our tickets for MNSSHP! We are going on Friday, October 21...the last night of our trip. I knew all along that was the day we were planning to attend, but I didn't have the money to buy the tix yet. I'm just thankful that it didn't sell out. :thumbsup2

My best friend was in Orlando a few weeks ago with her hubby for his job. They stayed at the Hilton on Disney property. They went to Downtown Disney but didn't go to any parks. There is NO way I could be THAT close and not go into at least EPCOT or MK! :scared1: Anyway, she picked up a couple things for me for Caden's welcome package. She got one of the pressed penny "books" so that we can collect them while in the parks. I thought the pressed pennies would be a "cheap" souvenir to satisfy him throughout the day.

The front.

The inside (where the pennies go).

P1100575.jpg

The back cover.

She also picked up one of the EPCOT Passports for Caden as well. I was going to try and make one, but I've just run out of time. I had no idea the passport was so cute. It even came with an EPCOT button for him to wear!

P1100576.jpg

She was talking to one of the CM's at World of Disney where she bought the Pressed Penny book. She told the guy that it was for her Godson and he would be coming to WDW in October. He promptly gave her a First Visit pin to give to Caden. I would have gotten him a pin our first day, but I thought it was sooo sweet that he thought to send one back with her.

P1100579.jpg

I downloaded and installed a countdown widget on my cell phone. Now every time I look at my phone I am reminded exactly how any more days until our trip!!!! It's 26 as of today! :dance3: :cool1:  :yay: :cheer2: party: :jumping1:

I can't believe in 3 1/2 weeks we will be leaving for Disney! OMG I am sooooo excited!

Stay tuned for more!

I know I read that too...stinky :headache: I'm sure you'll come up w/ something cute :thumbsup2

love the goodies your friend brought back for Caden :thumbsup2

yeah for getting your tickets!
MNSSHP is so much fun! I agree, Hook should be a must do for the pirate!

We have a SUPER awesome costume/special effects shop close by. I found a picture of some "fairy makeup" and I think next weekend I am going to visit the costume shop and have them help me select the right kind of makeup. MAYBE! I am running out of time FAST!!! :scared1:

Those are all super awesome things for Caden's welcome gift! Pressed pennies are a great souvenir!

I think I am finally finished with items for the welcome gift! Thank goodness! That was stressing me out.

yeah for getting your tickets!

I just got my tickets a couple days ago, I've just been too busy to post about it here. I think Caden will definitely be excited about meeting Hook...the rest of the villains are just a bonus. :thumbsup2

Caden's pirate costume is adorable- i love it- so unique- not like all the others you see.

i am unsure if i will dress up either. I have an Alice costume, but i might just wear a halloween shirt. I have halloween ears too. :goodvibes

you do have your F&W plan out better than me. I need to do that this week for sure! now that all the pics and pricing are out on the boards, I need to check it out and make our plan on which booths to tackle! all of yours sound yummy!!!

i had a friend get us the passport too- so i have that for part of his welcome gift. How are you going to present Caden's welcome gift- one big basket when arriving or what? I haven't figured that out yet? or doing one gift each morning.

I guess I really had Food & Wine more planned out than I realized. I'm definitely looking forward to that, but it's at the end of our week.

For Caden's Welcome Gift I am doing it all as one big basket. It's actually all going into a Toy Story bucket that I picked up around Easter time earlier this year. I will sneak it into the room before we go up for the first time and it will be waiting for him. I definitely want him to have the autograph book right away (we have dinner that first night at Chef Mickey's). I want him to have the pressed penny book too so he can start collecting right away. Most everything I got for him is practical that he can use on the trip. I guess I could save a few things for him for later in the week, but I like the idea of a BIG surprise....kinda like Christmas morning! WOW Factor! KWIM?!

I am sure whatever you decide will be great. I can't believe that we leave NEXT WEEK! Are you super excited? I know I am!

Time for another update! Time is just flying by. I can't believe our trip is in 11 more days!:cheer2::banana::cheer2:

I started packing last week. Just a few things here and there...mostly Caden's summer stuff that he isn't wearing anymore and our swimsuits and beach towels.

I can't believe how much I STILL have to get done before we leave. I am running out of days quickly! WOW! I printed out my "Ultimate packing list" yesterday. I need to start checking things off so I can be sure I don't forget anything. The list is/was a work in progress. I am sure I have left c=some things off, but I hope not! Anyway, here it is:

PackingList.jpg

I have been on the fence for months about whether or not to do Tie-dyed Mickey shirts. Well....JoAnn Fabrics ran T-shirts 4 for $10 a few weeks ago and I just couldn't pass up the deal (I did have 6 shirts to buy, after all). I was going to order dyes from Dharma, but ran out of time...SURPRISE SURPRISE...so I used a 40% off coupon and got a Tulip tie-dye kist for $12. They turned our pretty good I think. My mom's looks the best and required nothing extra be done to it. All of the other's I used a bleach pen to "highlight" the Mickey heads after they were finished. They weren't unrecognizable, but weren't as awesome as my mom's shirt. Caden's Mickey head was yellow so the bleach pen wasn't much help...instead I used a fine tip Sharpie to outline the Mickey head. Here are the pics:

I have a few more things to share that I have been working on, but they are currently at the print shop. I will take pictures and share as soon as I get them back.

See you all soon! 11 MORE DAYS! :jumping1:party:

I'm so envious that you already have your Epcot passports. I want to make sure the kids have those before we hit the World Showcase.

You are way ahead of me. We will probably tie-dye on Monday. I know, I'm cutting it pretty close. I spent a lot of money ordering from Dharma though so by gosh we are dying some shirts! :rotfl:
