Day 6 – Ending​

Let’s see… oh yes! We left off on our Japan journey. So, my mom and I left Beaches and Cream, leaving Andrew and my dad to settle the bill. We hustled (aka walked incredibly fast without actually breaking into a run) to the Epcot gate. We were able to surpass bag check and went straight to the turnstiles.

Now, it seems that getting to Japan from England wouldn’t be that challenging. However, it can be quite difficult as hordes of people try to get spots for Illuminations. We had to dodge a ton of people as we made our way across the bridge and through France, Morocco, and finally to Japan. At this point, my mom and I started to jog a little bit as the Illuminations music was just starting. We made it to the door, 1 minute before 9:00, right as they were locking up for the night.

Although we were gosh darn tired and out of breath, we still got our pearl!

We watched Illuminations as we walked out of the park (love that show!) and got on a bus to POR. We got off the bus up near the main building and went inside to fill up our mug. While we were there, we decided that we desperately needed a salty snack. What could be better than some French fries?

These were just okay. They weren’t as piping hot as they should have been nor were they salty enough, but they did the trick.

Day 7​

We got up early this morning, as we were headed back to Epcot for the opening. They let us in about 10 minutes before 9:00, but held us up near the fountain. While we were waiting for the rope to drop, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy came over to shake all of our hands. A pretty awesome way to start your day, if you ask me!

Once they dropped the ropes, we surged over to The Land and got on Soarin. We were able to get on the second flight of the day and got FastPasses for later on. Since we hadn’t eaten anything all morning, we were starving! We headed on over to Sunshine Seasons to get fuel up.

My Dad went all out and decided on the platter:

Adult Breakfast platter - Bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns, French toast, and a biscuit

Oh man, was this a lot of food! And my dad ate it all, save for the biscuit which he gave to me. He really enjoyed this and thought everything was excellent, even the bacon!

My thought on the biscuit? It was incredibly dry and hard, kind of like I have always imagined hardtack to be. It was also really greasy on the bottom and no matter how much butter I put on it, it just didn’t get any better.

I didn’t was to have as much food as my dad, so I settled on the Kid’s French toast platter, with hash browns and sausage:

This was definitely some of the better French toast I have had on Disney property! It was crispy on the edges, yet custardy in the middle. Much better than the French toast sticks I have had elsewhere. The hash browns were made from red potatoes and had onions and green peppers mixed in. I think the seasoning was paprika and maybe a touch of cayenne pepper as they had a little bit of a kick. I would say that they were better than other hash browns on property, but still not the best I have ever had. The sausage was good, so that receives a

Andrew decided on a special sandwich they were serving:

Andrew liked this sandwich, but it was VERY filling and rich. He probably wouldn’t order this again.

My mom decided on cold cereal:

My mom always likes her frosted flakes, so no complaints there! She also really enjoyed her cinnamon roll, as it was fresh from the oven.

Day 7 – Lunch Time!​

After breakfast, we hit some more attractions around Future World and headed back to POR around noon. We were getting to be exhausted at this point of our trip, since we hadn’t been getting a ton of sleep and were walking around 15 miles a day.

While we were in our room, my mom and I had the brilliant idea that we should rent a Surrey Bike! I can’t even remember the last time we did this, so I was really looking forward to trying it out. We meandered over to the marina and after signing some paperwork, hopped on our 4 person green Surrey bike. They have this nice little path marked out for you that takes you in a big circle all around the resort. You can rent it for 30 minutes, which is more than enough time, as it takes about 10 minutes to make a loop if you have 4 adults peddling. We had so much fun and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying here!

After working up an appetite, we definitely needed lunch. We decided to go to the Riverside Mill Food Court, since it was the closest place and we hadn’t had lunch there yet.

I decided on this:

Cajun Chicken Sandwich with French fries ($8.99):
This was an awesome sandwich! It had a great Cajun spice and sauce and a nice, crusty bun. The chicken was grilled to perfection and very moist.

Andrew and my mom both got a Kid’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Uncrustable meal ($5.49):

My mom got grapes and applesauce, while Andrew got grapes and a chocolate chip cookie. They both love uncrustables, so they were very happy with their meal choices.

My dad got a hamburger with French fries:

Sadly, this burger was lacking. It was very small and had a wheat bun, but unlike Pecos Bill there was no redeeming topping bar. The French fries were also cold and limp…

On to dessert!
My parents decided to share one of the monstrously large Magic Cookie Bars:

This was quite a cookie bar! It was packed with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and walnuts. Quite an excellent dessert!

That's too bad that your Chicken Sandwich wasn't that great. They probably just had an off batch of the sauce that day. When I had mine, the CM serving them put on a liberal amount of sauce and it had quite a kick to it.

Day 7 – Ending​

Every family goes through this: At one point in your trip, no one can agree where to eat and you have a meal meltdown.

Around 6:30 we hopped on the boat to DTD to finish up some shopping. Since we had a late lunch, we still weren’t too hungry when we arrived. After moseying around the shops for about an hour and a half, we finally decided to get some food! Now, where should we go? I wanted to try Wolfgang Puck Express (since we hadn’t been there before), but the rest of the family wanted to go to Earl of Sandwich (which was also fine with me – they have some killer sandwiches!). Once we reached EOS, we discovered a ridiculously long line. I was more than happy to wait, since the line seemed to be moving pretty quickly, but my mom didn’t want to. So, we left and headed over to WPE. There was also a long line here and after looking over the menu, my mom decided everything was too heavy for that time of night. I was starting to get really frustrated, since I would love to eat at either EOS or WPE, but no one else seemed to want to eat at DTD.

I then suggested eating at one of the deluxe resorts, so we hopped on a bus that was going to the Wilderness Lodge and Grand Floridian. This is quite a long bus ride, since we had to make a stop at Pleasure Island and at one of the water parks. On the bus, my family decided they didn’t want to eat at either resort (Ahhh! ) and wanted to go to the MK instead. It was about quarter to nine by the time we finally got to the MK…

My dad went over to Casey’s Corner, while the rest of us went to the Main Street Bakery, where we decided to skip dinner and head straight for dessert!

I decided to indulge and got a piece of Chocolate Cake:

This was luscious! It was very moist chocolate cake, with a velvety, rich chocolate frosting. I’m sure it was calorie free…

Andrew went with a Double Chocolate Chip Muffin:

He loved this! It was very moist and incredibly chocolately.

And my mom had an Apple Turnover:

This was a very light puff pastry, with an apple pie filling, and a vanilla drizzle. This was definitely one of her favorites of the trip.

We also got some Cheetoes to cut the sweet:

Remark: Never let Andrew control the amount of spinning, especially after just eating!

My dad was able to successfully dodge the Main Street Electrical Parade and join us at the Bakery. He got a Hot Dog meal with French Fries:

My dad loves the Hot Dogs at Casey’s Corner, so he thoroughly enjoyed his meal, even though he was surrounded by all these delicious bakery items.

Despite our intensiveness at DTD, I was glad we ended up at the Bakery. These desserts were all scrumptious and definitely a good ending to the day.

Ahoy mates! I'm sorry I haven't been posting many new updates lately, but school is once again destroying my soul with endless amounts of work. Day 8 ​

Time to rise and shine! This was another early day for us because we were going to Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

We reached the Riverside Mill Food Court around 7:30 and found that it was nearly empty. Gotta love those people that sleep in

Guess what my mom, dad, and brother ordered? What’s that you say? OATMEAL??
Well, gosh darn it, you are right.

And guess what? They loved it!

Good thing I’m a bit more exciting and love to try unhealthy breakfast items!

Today I got the Kid’s Pancake Meal with Sausage and Strawberries:

This was great! I’m glad I was able to substitute strawberries for the applesauce, since fresh strawberries are FAR superior to processed applesauce. The pancakes were also cooked perfectly and the sausage was good, as usual.

Day 8 – Snacks, Snacks, and More Snacks​

We reached DHS in time for rope drop and the infamous TSM dash – aka walk really really fast, don’t pass the CM at the front of the line, and try to avoid knocking down anyone in front of you. We were able to successfully make it there and ended up being among the first families in line. Afterward, we headed over to the Tower of Terror, which is always a blast!

We then decided it was time to make a stop. What better place to go than Writer’s Stop?

Without further ado, I present the Carrot Cake Cookie:

If you love carrot cake, then this is a must! Cream cheese frosting sandwiched between two pieces of carrot cake… What’s not to love?

We also made a stop to Starring Rolls Café later in the day.

Okay, so Disney has the best cupcakes in the world. These were monstrously huge and had tons of icing. If these won’t give you a sugar coma, I don’t know what will.

If you are ever low on energy and need a pick-me-up during the day, head on over to Writer’s Stop or Starring Rolls. You can’t go wrong with a snack from either place.

The carrot cake cookie cost $4.21, while the two cupcakes cost $8.50. And they were definitely worth every single penny.

Day 8 – To Infinity and Beyond!​

Let’s be honest, DHS doesn’t have very good CS places. We have tried them all and determined Pizza Planet to be the best. It may just be because of our love of Toy Story or the little green aliens hanging everywhere or all those arcade games that suck the money out of you as you walk by… Whatever the reason may be, we now return here on every trip. Now, onto the food!

We ended up getting a cheese pizza with salad ($7.79), a pepperoni pizza with salad ($8.29), and another individual cheese pizza ($5.99). This is the same pizza that is served throughout WDW property. Again, not the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life, but certainly not the worst. It was piping hot and had lots of sauce. The salad was also good; I just wished it would have been a bit bigger.
