My BFF's son, Elijah was diagnosed with Leukemia on Dec. 3, 2010. He is only 3. Make A Wish already contacted them, had their meeting, and granted them a Dream Vacation to WDW, Universal, and the works! Of course, they will be staying at GKTW. Elijah was also chosen to be flown there on a unique flight where he (along with 7 other wish kids) will be treated like a celebrity, shown the **** pit, and given a HUGE welcome party with tons of fanfair when they land. I am BEYOND THRILLED for them!!!! I had to share with you guys.

After Elijah was diagnosed, I told my BFF about GKTW and how awesome & amazing they are. When she heard they were going there, she was over the moon! This will be their first family vacation, EVER!

A co worker/ friend of my bf took his daughter last fall. It was a truly magical experience for the entire family.

That's wonderful for your friend and her family. I hope they have a fantastic vacation.

(PS, if you take the space out of the middle of the word cockpit, the first half won't be filtered out. :goodvibes)

Sayhello

Make-A-Wish arrived early this morning to reveal Elijah's wish. I will post a video as soon as it is available, but I thought I'd share the banner Elijah and his family saw when they arrived at the airport.

Elijah was diagnosed with leukemia on Dec. 1,2010. He will be 4 on the 29th of this month. He is a HUGE super hero fan, so part of his wish is to go to a special party at Universal with all of his super friends! And of course, WDW and all the trimmings!

Brad (Elijah's Dad) has said this about GKTW
This place is beyond amazing. Just a few hours here and I'm beyond rational words. It's sort of like kids drawings of a happy place came to life. — at Give Kids The World Inc
:love::cheer2:AAWWEEE!

Thank you for sharing this with us! I can't imagine facing that type diagnosis with one of my kids. I am glad MAW and GKTW can give your friend and her family a stressfree week of fun!

That's great news! :cool1:
Thank you so much for sharing their adventure with us. I think it makes what we are doing through the Power of 10 all that more real for everyone here.

Looking forward to more updates! :thumbsup2

They do wonderful work.

My cousin's daughter went on a MAW trip - well, the whole family did, of course. That kid got everything she wanted. She kept talking about how much she liked "the pink princess" and boom! they had tea with her at the GF.

They got FOTL onto everything...and I guess more than a few dirty looks, lol. The kids said they wanted to ride Peter Pan and Dad said, "Let's go see who we piss off at Peter Pan!" :)

They don't forget siblings, either, which is excellent. Siblings get left with relatives all the time while mom and dad are out of town for medical treatments. Siblings have to be very quiet so their sick sister can sleep. Siblings have to watch mom cry and dad be distant. Siblings know something very bad is going on and have to deal with that. And they worry, too. So, IMO, it is a very good thing that siblings get to partake in the fun. They may not get stuck and have chemo and crap, but they suffer, too.

They didn't stay in the little village because it was all booked up.

But they had the easiest trip and everything that could be done for them was done.

I can't say enough good things about the MAW people.

This is a picture of a train set inside GKTW. If you look on the right hand side of the picture, you will see an adorable little girl. That is Elijah's little sister, Aliyah looking through the glass in awe of the train.

Today Elijah got to build his own Light Sabor at DHS (Red). THey were not able to get into any of the restaurants at DHS-shocker huh-:lmao: I sent them the link to WDW dining reservations online, I hope they use it or they will be out of luck.

Yesterday they went to Sea World, apparently it was a HUGE HIT, until they went to see Shamu, Elijah did not care for the soaking by Shamu LOL

How wonderful for them...I hope they have the best time !! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for sharing! I just found this thread. Do you know if they were going down on American Airlines? I know their "Something mAAgic Foundation" was bringing over 30 kids down to GKTW this week.

Yes in fact they were a part of the Something mAAgic Foundation. Elijah was given a tour of the pilots part of the plane, got to push buttons and pull levers, he had a great time!

Elijah's Dad:
21 attraction rides today. Thank you Make-A-Wish & Disney!
Before that he said "Back to magic kingdom for 5 rides on buzz lightyear. Apparently Elijah went on Toy Story 5 times in a row as well!:love: They have left for home now and I'm pretty sure they are EXHAUSTED but in the absolute best way possible!

Apparently one of the things Disney gives Wish Families, is the Photo Pass CD! How cool is that!
