Refillable vs. souvenir cups

I read many posts about people bringing past years cups to refill onsite. I like this idea, but wonder if there is a difference on certain cups? I have never been to Universal but see souvenir cups at the local Goodwill. I see many cups with some type of head attached ( Dinosaur from Jurassic park, KingKong ect) are these refillable?

i am only aware of the refillable mugs, not the cups as being in the discounted refill
promo.

the cups that are a part of the beverage deal are valid for the visit you purchase them only.

if you do bring one back, don't know if they will always be valid for refills.

the mugs can be bought for $6.99

some have toppers on them.
others have lids with the large plastic straws.

We went to Universal, Sea World, Aquadica, and Busch Gardens Tampa the last 2 weeks of August this year. We bought Universal Cups, with refills at 79cents in the 2 Universal parks, and then bought Sea World cups at 99 cents refills in Sea World. Then, when we get get to Busch Gardens, we were going to get that park's cup, when we heard and read, that at all Busch parks, and including Universals 2 parks, will refill any 32 ounce or less refillable cup at the refill rate. So, to test, we use the Universal Cups at Busch Gardens with no issue (99 cent refills). Thinking about it, I remember seeing Sea World and other non-Universal cups being charged the refill rate at both IOA and Unversal with no issues. We also used the Univeral cups at Aquadica with no compaints, 99 cent refills.

Kids got me for 4 cups that we really didn't need. However, I must say, the Sea World cups are nicer, as the Universal ones we got only have paper glued on to say Universal, and Sea World's cup has designs on the cup, not glued. I am sure with enough washing, we will only rermember that cup came from Universal. And for that, I think of the cups as the kids' gifts that are good gifts because they are reusable and will be reused again and again.

i love this new promo about the drinks!!!

Were the SeaWorld cups the same price at those from Universal?

Just wondering, as we planned to buy the Universal cups on our upcoming vacation. That said, we will be visiting SeaWorld before Universal. When the SeaWorld cups are nicer, if they are the same cost, we'll buy the SW ones and have them refilled at US & IOA :thumbsup2 . We don't really "need" them at SW as we will be getting the meal deal which includes drinks, but still would be worth getting on our SW day if they are nicer cups for the price. :)

Is this a new thing? To be able to buy a refillable at SW or US and use it at the other parks is a great idea but I have never seen it advertised or anything on our previous visits.

We are planning on going to Florida again next June and will be doing US, IOA, Busch Gardens & Wet n Wild so will the cups be refillable at all of these parks?

If I can remember, the US cups were $6.99 plus tax, but when we were there, it was buy 2 get 1 free at most of the kiosks. I think the SW ones were $7.99 plus tax. No discount for multiples. Also, I think the SW cups came in several colors (one of the colors was $1 more, I believe)

Don't know if I was because it was the start of the slower time or whether it was an everyday policy. But we had no problem using another park's cup to get refill prices at a park. We only had experience this end of August/start of September, and did SW, US and IOA, Aquadica and BGT. All allowed refills of any refillable 32 ounce (or less) cup.

Sorry new to Universal. First time using the Meal Deal with the refillable mug. So I have the blue "Meal Deal" cup with the white top and straw (I think Universal calls them the "Sipper Cup" when you buy the add on).

When I go back to Universal, can I use this to get refills at the refill rate? Or was it only to be used with the Meal Deal and I have to buy a different mug?

Yes, you can use the sippy cups for refills.

And to answer another question about Seaworld and Busch Gardens:
It has been the policy for several years to refill those interchangably at those parks.

Hmmm... I have a transparent red cup with a screw on lid (the kind you put a big straw in), with a black rubber hand grip around the middle that says Islands of Adventure. Don't remember exactly when we got it, it had to be at least 3 years ago or more. Does anyone know if this is the type they refill? And can I use it at US even though it says IOA?

Thanks for the info.:thumbsup2 We are going to IOA, SW & US in Dec & this tip will save me some $$ :cool1:

Can I still use my blue 'meal-deal' cup (says Universal Orlando Resort - blue cup with white lid and straw) to get the discounted refills? I know we did this in the past but with the new changes and Freestyle Coke machines I am not sure if they still allow this??

Here today, if you have the old cups they will still refill them at the refill rate of $1.09(99 cents+tax). If you have the freestyle cups which cost $11.99, you get free refills at freestyle machines approx every 8 minutes on the same day of purchase. Any other day, you can refill at the $1.09 price at any counter, however you can recharge the chip on the freestyle cup for $5.99 for unlimited drinks for another day.

Sorry to hijack but when I pulled out my refillable mug for this coming weekend, I also had a popcorn bucket. I absolutely have no recollection of putting it away with our USO trip stash last year but I must have thought it was also refillable. Anyone recall if they offer discounts to refill popcorn buckets. I don't want to take it along if not. I am a popcorn-o-holic and purchase at least one per day!

The buckets are refillable too. I thinks it's 1.29 now.
