Welcome all to my dining report! I'm not new to this board, but to those of you who are new, let me do a brief introduction.

Who:
Hi there, I'm Kelly. I'll be your skipper during this journey through uncharted territory.

DisneySeptember2011262.jpg

I've gotten pretty adventurous in my dining choices lately, but I still hate peppers and raw onions.

Making special guest appearance are my Parents:

My Mom doesn't do spicy and my Dad loves cheese. They're Florida residents.

When:
I went down to the World for a quick weekend getaway September 9-11.

Why:
I'm getting married 10-29-11. We're also planning on moving next year, so I have little vacation time. My AP expires at the end of September. AND my Fiance isn't a huge Disney fan...but it's okay, he's an enabler. I said I wanted to go and he told me to go get my Disney fix :thumbsup2

Where:
Yak & Yeti Local Foods
Ice Cream Cart
French Drink
La Cantina de San Angel (Mexican Counter Service
Contempo Cafe
Room Service - BLT
Liberty Square Snacks
Columbia Harbor House
Main Street Ice Cream Parlor
California Grill
Contempo Cafe
Liberty Tree Tavern

Everybody neat & pretty? Then on with the show!

I got to the Animal Kingdom around 1:30pm. I hadn't eaten since 6am, so I was a little hungry!

After much debate (with myself), I finally settled on Yak & Yeti Local Foods.

I ordered the Honey Chicken and a large cup of ice water.

The Ice Water was to pour into my water bottle.

The Honey Chicken has your standard nuggets on top, then broccoli, carrots and a lot of sauce under that over steamed white rice.

Overall, it was pretty tasty, but the sauce was way over done. It was put on in such a way that one fork full you got nothing but sauce, and in another, you were eating plain rice. On my way out of the park, I was asked to give feedback on the food I ate...obviously I did and I mentioned that there was way too much sauce on it.

It's also a LOT of food. Usually when my fiance and I go down, we have a habit of splitting lunches. I ate maybe 1/3 of the meal and threw away the rest, it was just too much food.

In the end, I'd still rate Yak & Yeti pretty high. The sauce was tasty (even if there was too much!) and it came out nice and hot. The consistency at this quick service location is pretty good, so I know I'll always find something good to eat here. :thumbsup2

Signing on now, before I forget, but I'll have to come back later to read. Looking forward to seeing how your dining experiences were.

Great first choice. It does help to put it on a plate before eating, much easier to distribute the sauce and rice evenly. Your pictures from BLT are so beautiful.

Kelly, I'm here. Now going back to read.

Hi! Thanks for joining!

Hi there!
I hadn't thought of asking for a plate!

Around 3:30 I found myself back at the front of the park for the parade, but I was feeling the heat. I decided to grab something cold, but I didn't want ice cream...what to do, what to do...

I saw the cart had some fruit bars, so I decided to try the Pineapple one!

It was the perfect snack to cool me off and get a little bit of sugar into me! I also promptly dripped it on my dress... :sad2:

I even went and bought a box and they're currently in my freezer :thumbsup2

I had originally wanted to do Bistro de Paris for dinner. Then I decided I didn't want to spend all that money, so I instead I was going to try the new Mexican Counter Service. I thought I would be foiled from the rain that was falling, but they had covered seating! Joy!

I wound up asking the CM what she would recommend because so much looked good to me! She suggested the Tacos de Pollo (or Chicken Tacos for you non-bi-lingual peeps like me.)

I also got a Passion Fruit Margarita...which wasn't that great. I only drank about half of it before tossing it.

A closer look at the tacos:

These were excellent. I'm not a huge fan of spicy foods, but these had just the right amount of heat without being too spicy. The chips were great with the fresh salsa. The tortillas seemed to be freshly made, certainly not your average flour tortillas, you could really tell the difference. Overall, the meal was fantastic and I'm excited to try some of the other options!

ETA: Oops! I forgot to do my drink in France! I'll do that next!

I'm so happy to find your reviews! I've bean meaning to try La Cantina but we just haven't gotten around to it our last couple of trips. It looks so good :worship:
