So, did WWHP drive the prices up?

I remember pricing Universal about 2 years ago and I swear, the hotel/ticket packages were not this expensive.

should have gone 2 years ago...:rotfl2:

I think I had our whole trip planned out for about $600 then. LOL.

all the parks have increased prices!

probably because they can and peeps will still come.

2007 $79 7 day ticket (regular price from universal website)
2008 staycationed to save some $$$
2009 $89 3 month ticket (costco)
2010 $125 14 day ticket (maple leaf)
2011 $160 14 day ticket (online from UK)

I was paying $99 and then $109 to renew my preferred AP for almost a decade, then last year it shot up to $149 and this year $159.

If they have to up their ticket price to pay for the amazing way they designed WWHP, I'm a-okay with it! They spared no expense to make it look like the real deal....

It's well worth the extra money. I'm not even a Potter fan and I can get lost in the themeing in WWoHP. In fact, I love the place. Still have no interest in the books or films... but as a themed land? Fantastic job. It's on par with anything at Disney, in terms of the themeing and ambiance.

me too.......

not a fan of harry pothead but i really do enjoy that section.

you don't have to read a book or see a movie to enjoy what that area has to offer.

This x9001. Non-fans won't understand a lot of what's going on, but can get a gist. And if they approach it as an intricately themed land, then they'll still have fun!

I'm OK with it too,the way I look at it now Universal has money for future attractions and expansion, this does not go unnoticed at Disney which will obviously come back with new attractions as well.So if all goes well Harry Potter could have kicked off a decade of new projects and theme park expansion in Orlando.

I'm not finding hotel prices to be any higher, though.

I disagree, the hotels around International Drive and Sea World have gone up somewhat.Yes they're still relatively inexpensive but they certainly have gone up since Potter opened.

I was just referring to the onsite hotels.

There is offsite hotels???? JK;)

I doubted it myself, but on a couple of rides -- Rip, Ride Rockit, for example -- I was forced to wait in the same line as the people who stayed in these hotels.

That doesn't happen to often, though, so these people are mostly out of sight -- and it's easy to forget all about them and their "hotels."

;)

YEAH IT DID. Especially of those annual passes.. You can bet the Fantasyland Expansion will up Disney's prices too... but then again, that already happens at least once or twice a year.
