ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

We shipped one box to the Poly which arrived a two days in advance of our arrival (special formula for DS 17 months). They handled the package with care and a CM had it ready for us upon our arrival. I would advise making sure that you pack it well and don't send anything that you would ruin your vacation if it was lost or damaged. I would recommend having the package arrive one or two days prior to your departure and make sure that you can verify with the delivery service (e.g. UPS, Fedex, etc.) that the package has been received at the Poly so you still have options to pack replacements if needed.

thanks,i sent out Friday its going to get there via UPS by friday:cool1:,just In time we arrive on saturday

Just back from an extended stay at the Poly thanks to hurricane Irene. No better place to be stranded though.
We stayed Tokelau 3rd floor (our request)
Just wanted to report that they only wristbanded 1 day we were there and we were there for 10 days!!!! I couldn't believe this since i heard on the boards they had started doing it. Even when they checked our room keys they were walking around not checking at steps when people walk in like at BC. So it was really a hit or miss if you were checked they couldn't get to everybody and they only did it for a certain amount of time. This was disappointing b/c the pool was always crowded.
Now I know first hand what people would complain about. Especially at night when there aren't any lifeguards.
I only had 1 disappointment during our trip. When I went to the front desk to extend our trip for 2 more nights I told the CM I just wanted the same rate I had payed all week b/c I got a 40% off pin. The CM I spoke to seemed new and got someone on the phone to ok it. She said yes and I thought I was all set. I didn't think it was that huge of a request since it was the hurricanes fault I needed to stay. There were lots of other people in the same boat.
She said I was all set and sent me on my merry way and I had to ask her for a receipt!!! Good thing I did b/c she didn't charge me the same rate now I was getting a little aggrivated. She went for help from another CM and he sent her on her merry way and said he would take care of me. Thank God! He said they were giving everbody the same rate due to circumstances. He told me to come get new keys tomorrow.
Well we p/u new keys they didn't work. Got new keys again didn't work. They said maybe it's the door. NOT!!! We went EP that day only DS could get through other keys didn't work had to wait for new temp. ones! Needless to say this was not a fun day. When DH went to complain they said they will credit us for our inconvience. I wasn't sure how much this would be but the day we checked out they OWED us $$$!!!! :) We had charges on our room card and we had internet access for like 4 days. It must have been aroun $200. So they did fix it. Was Happy :)
Sorry so long but wanted to share experience.

do you know If Capt cook was open 24hrs??, if so what did they serve in the morinings around 6:30??

Did a TON of packing last night - although I'm pretty sure I packed way too many shirts for myself :) Now to just get through 5 LONG days at work and we are off :cool1:

They were open early can't remember if it was 6 or 7. I only got a hot b-fast once from Capt. Cooks and that was Tonga toast. I'm not a big b-fast fan so we usually ate muffins and chocolate croissant things that were very good. I'm not sure of the time they opened b/c we usually got the pastries the night before so we could just eat in the room. They do have quite more than I thought though, just can't remember specifics. I'm sure someone else will be able to tell all the offerings.
Have a great trip :)

I can't believe we'll be at the Poly in 4 more days (I know my ticker says 5 but we're leaving Friday - that's only 4 days - right??)

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I hope I can make it through work this week!!

We leave in 4 days, :woohoo:.. Now only if the weather would cooperate, doesn't look to promising for the first few days of our trip...

Have Fun !! Dont worry to much about the weather when we went this past labor day week it was saying 50 to 60% rain everyday and it only rained about an hour each day

Another quick question for the good people of this thread:

Do the TVs in the Polynesian have spare HDMI inputs? If so, I'll bring a cable, since I'm bringing my notebook to watch movies on the train down.

Thanks,

Thanks for the positive vibes! One of my BFF's lives in Orlando and she also told me not to worry, but as a Mom and wanting the most amazing vacation for the kids, I do, LOL.... I just finished bleaching our rain poncho's from our trip in 2008, so we'll be ready regardless!

For anyone that has stayed 1st floor Hawaii, TPV: if the beach in front of Hawaii is crowded for fireworks, and you are sitting on your patio, are the crowds in your way?

We were there in October, so def. lower crowds. We always watched from the Patio when we stayed in Hawaii TPV, but the beach was not crowded at all...

We took rain ponchos and umbrellas and only used our umbrellas because the ponchos made us to hot :thumbsup2 It was easier to pop up the umbrella for a bit .

Woo hoo wasn't sure being a DVC member the next time I could get back to the Poly, but my flights changed so I'm in a day earlier than expected so I called and got a room at the Poly Lagoon View on an AP rate for the night. :cool1:

We've been in there about 4 am, before leaving for home. Definitely open 24 hours, but at that time it's just the packaged type items. I would imagine that by 6:30 the pastry case is restocked and the kitchen is open or about to.
