Thanks for sharing. Could you say what some of those Ramada Maingate free amentities are?

I would be interested to hear why your thumbs down choices were thumbs down, just as you put small summaries as to why your thumbs up were :thumbsup2.

I know, for our family, we have stayed at the Anaheim Plaza and aside from being a little outdated, I thought it was nice to stay at, clean and felt safe (plus they had huge rooms, and a sink outside the bathroom. For me, if the price is right, that one gets a thumbs up.

We have also stayed at Quality Inn and Suites on Manchester. While the walk was a little out of the way, I didn't think it was too bad. But the rooms were very small. With two growing boys, I don't think my family would fit comfortably into the room we had there in 2008, but it might work for an adult couple or a couple of singles.

I don't think the walk from Quality Inn and Suites or Anaheim Plaza was that bad. They are definitely budget hotels though. Good for younger people on a tight budget.

I think it would be interesting to know the star rating for each hotel and perhaps even the expedia rating.

It's really good to hear that my the thumbs down are not really bad. I honestly can't recall what my reasons were; it was a slash and burn list I made when trying to decide where to stay... probably just based on a couple of peoples opinions. I can say that Castle Inn should stay as a "place-of-last-resort" (but it is very inexpensive and close if that is all you are looking at).

I really like to hear the comments of other DISers.

I have not stayed there yet, but this is what I have gathered: They have a free breakfast with hard boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, and danishes. Fridge, micorwave, free parking and free internet. In their deluxe rooms, you can get a complimentary rollaway. The pool has a couple of kids' water-play toys.

I softened the adjectives I used in my first post and thread title to be more fair.:thumbsup2

We've stayed at Anaheim Plaza on our last 6 or 7 trips and have never had any issues with them. The rooms are huge, the walk is easy with 3 kids under the age of 4 (less than 10 mins) and the price is always right. I don't think we've ever paid more than $89 a night for a 2 queen bed room and that's during Peak season of Christmas week (we've been in DL every year for Christmas the last 7 years). I keep trying to get us closer to the gates but when everything else always seems to come in over $110 a night for a smaller room, I just can't jusify it.

You do not have the Del Sol Inn on your list, but we just stayed there and would definitly stay there again. Easy walking distance-closer than the Ramada maingate, but it is tucked back in there right next to Desert Inn Suites...It was very affordable, large rooms, good pool, and was quiet while we were there over labor day weekend. The mini fridge is actually quite large, and the coffee maker was not one of those single cup jobs...We did not have a car, and there is minimal parking and a fee for those who would have a car. We used the airport shutle, and it was very convenient. Overall, I liked this hotel quite a bit. Location was great! Price was great! If you want fancy, this is not it- but it certainly works as a roomy place to stay close to the parks! FYI- I have this hotel booked again for a Dec trip at $57 a night! Can't beat that!

I don't know where you got your prices, but when checking rates for my Sept. 27-Oct. 1 trip, Candy Cane Inn was $139 and Red Lion Inn was $76.50 (AAA). I also briefly had the Best Western Park Place Inn booked at the AAA rate of $89.10.

I ended up booking a Disneyland package at the Sheraton Park Hotel. I stayed there in 2000 when it was the West Coast Anaheim, and it was very nice. It's pretty popular among Trip Advisor posters, as it's #8 in popularity: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...at_the_Anaheim_Resort-Anaheim_California.html

Yeah, i thought the price for CCI seemed low too. The cheapest I've seen it was $109 and that was several years ago with the AAA discount. I haven't seen it that cheap recently.

But great idea making a list with a brief description of each hotel's amenities. :)

I pulled them from Tripadvisor late last night - an average over 4 days in early November. I will change it to these amounts since they are more accurate. Thx.

I didn't include the Sheraton Park Hotel because the walk was a tiny bit farther than I wanted, across Katella, but it is closer to the entrance than some I included - I had to cut down somewhere.;) I tried to stick to the green-shaded hotels on this map: MAP

The Sheraton Park is actually closer than the Red Lion you listed and you need only cross 1 major street, instead of 2. But, I agree, it gets hard to draw a line. -- Suzanne

I like the softening of the adjectives and the new additions. :thumbsup2 I think that this will definitely help others! Great idea. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info on the Sheraton. Someone tell me the price, star rating and their opinion and I'll add it to the first post later.

$120 2.5 Quality Inn and Suites
$70 Desert Inn & Suites (Good for huge party though)

Yikes! We're staying at the Quality Inn (on Manchester) for 4 nights in early November - for $205 total! I haven't stayed there yet, but I'm hoping it's decent. Couldn't imagine paying $120 a night for it, though... When I've checked, it's normally is around $60 - $70 a night. I have it reserved for $265 for 4 nights mid-December. I guess it depends on how early you book, though.

Desert Inn and Suites is a 2 star and it starts at $59 for a standard room and goes up from there (based on availability, it can be almost double that. So the $70 is probably about right for an average). We stayed there in May and didn't have any complaints (other than parking - $8 a day and there wasn't enough of it. Had to have the valets park the truck on night and then it was pouring the next morning, and our ponchos were in the truck!). The walk from DI&S was awesome!
