You definitely need to go there! There are also a ton of other different cupcakes, including one with a white chocolate elephant on top!

Hahahaha! I do love the frozen bananas, but it wasn't quite as good as those awesome cupcakes.

Day 5 – Lunch

After consuming quite a few calories and hitting some more attractions, we headed on over to Pizzafari for lunch. We had never eaten here before and I really liked the different themes in each room - they were bright and colorful and definitely very Animal Kingdomey. ;)

Since we had already consumed our normal breakfast, plus two cupcakes, and an egg roll (no judging :lmao:), we decided to share two cheese pizzas and get a side of breadsticks.

Breadsticks - Basket of fresh baked breadsticks topped with cheese and served with marinara sauce ($3.99)

Disney pizza isn’t the best pizza in the world, but we still enjoy it. They were both really fresh and piping hot and the breadsticks were actually better than I expected, as was the marinara sauce. So if you are crazing some pizza amongst the barbecue and buffets of Animal Kingdom, I highly recommend stopping here for a bite to eat.

Overall, we give this a…

This lunch came to a total of $17.44.

After a bit we headed out. We got back to the room, went for a swim, and headed to the Magic Kingdom for the night!

Coming up: Our sailors are divided about dinner.

Hey sister!!!!:goodvibes

Day 5 – Dinner

We reached the Magic Kingdom around 6:00 - prime time for eating! Once we walked in the gates we tried to figure out where we wanted to have dinner. We finally reached a decision and decided to go to the Diamond Horseshoe for sandwiches. Well… we reached the front steps and there was a sign on the door saying they were closed for the evening. Drat! My mom then decided she wanted a tuna sandwich from Columbia Harbour House, while my dad wanted a pulled pork sandwich from Pecos Bill. So we split up – I went with my dad, while Andrew went with my mom.

Staying true to her word, my mom had this:
101_0625.jpg

Anchors Aweigh Sandwich - white tuna with lettuce and tomato on toasted multigrain bun ($8.29)

She substituted the multigrain bread for white bread, untoasted. This also came with a bag of kettle chips.

My mom loved this! She said it was the best tuna sandwich she had ever had and it was a pretty big portion size.

Andrew went with a salad:
101_0626.jpg

BLT Salad - Mixed greens with crispy chicken, bacon, egg, and tomato ($7.69)

He really like this salad. He’s not one to eat just plain lettuce with salad dressing, so this definitely fit the bill with big pieces of chicken, egg, and bacon.

They rated their meal a…

And their total came to $17.02.

Over at Pecos Bill, my dad got just what he wanted:

BBQ Pork Sandwich - served with apple slices ($8.69)

Note: My dad loves the onions on the topping bar, haha!

I got the same thing, but chose the fries instead:

BBQ Pork Sandwich - served with fries ($8.69)

The BBQ pork was awesome! It had a good smoky flavor and a bit of a zing. The only problem was the bun… Again, we have the wheat bun (ugh) and it just didn’t hold up. Our buns basically disintegrated and started to fall apart after one bite. :sad2:

This meal receives a…

This came to a total of $18.94. For those of you with a keen eye, you will notice that we ended up spending more… :confused3

Coming up: Dessert to the tune of “Baroque Hoedown.”

:thumbsup2

Great reviews, keep them coming. I have never seen the BBQ pork at Pecos Bill before. It looks so lovely. Keep the great pictures coming too. Signing on and loving the reviews.

I second that! These reviews--with great pictures--are awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Those cupcakes at Animal Kingdom look yummy! I think I'm going to need some quality time with the Zebra one on my next visit!

Glad everyone got what they wanted for dinner! My DH is with your mom, he loves the Anchors Away sandwich. I like to joke that he only orders it because he is in the Navy, and then proceed to sing (anchors away) to him, which he does not overly appreciate! :rotfl:

I've never had the pulled pork at Pecos, but it looks yummy too!

Just found your review--it's great! I really like your strategy of eating smaller meals and sharing plates while at the same time trying more things and never skipping dessert! I am definitely going to eat more kids meals on my next trip.

Thank you! :goodvibes I'm glad you are enjoying them! I think the BBQ pork sandwiches must be a fairly new item, as I don't remember them last year.

I never saw that either, my hub might like that.

Yes, it was definitely a good BBQ pork sandwich for a CS place! :thumbsup2

Gotta love those yummy bananas!

Heck yes! :D

Thanks so much! I'm going to try and post another one tomorrow morning. I need to finish up some homework tonight. (Good thing, I'm taking time to reply to all these comments.) :rolleyes1

LOL!!!!!! :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Hey sis, so glad you came to check it out! I love the rating system lots of Johnny to enjoy! I mean food pix! pirate:pirate:

Yup, I think quality time with a Zebra cupcake is definitely in order! Love that you sing anchors away when he gets the sandwich. So funny! :lmao:

Welcome and thanks for joining in! :goodvibes Yup, we have figured out a pretty good system when it comes to eating. Does that mean we have been there too many times? I'm glad I was able to pass on some tips to you!

I'm loving your review! POR is our home base too, and Riverside Mill's cinnamon rolls and cornbread often haunt my dreams.

A tidbit from me, a fellow Jack fan, to you... go to MNSSHP dressed as a pirate, complete with black leather boots. My kids and I, along with my brother, SIL, and Mom, all went, as a family of pirates (well... my 6' tall brother was a parrot... which was awesome.) Anyway, you want some good Jack interaction?

Pirate costume.

I highly recommend it.

The tuna sandwich looks like 2 sandwiches cut in half. Was it quarters or two sandwiches?

It was one sandwich cut into quarters. It was still quite a large portion size and I think my brother had to help her finish it all.

Thanks! :goodvibes Cinnamon rolls...:cloud9:

Thanks for the info!!! I have always wanted to go to MNSSHP, but darn school is always in session. A pirate outfit would definitely be my first choice as a costume. Heck, I would totally dress up as a pirate everyday if I could... And of course I would love to see Captain Jack :lovestruc

I wish they would bring the Pirate and Princess Parties back. They were so epic!

Day 5 – A Sweet Ending

After having dinner, we went on a few attractions until 9:00. Since we hadn’t had enough sweet things today ;), we headed up to Main Street. Since the Main Street Electric Parade had just started, all the stores (including the food venues) were basically empty.

My dad, mom, and brother headed to the Plaza Ice Cream Parlour on the corner, while I went to the Main Street Bakery. After getting our desserts we all met at a table down that little side street (about half way down Main Street). We had perfect timing as the parade had just started to make its way to that point. We just love eating our desserts there, while listening to the music as the parade passes by.

I’m sure by now that you are just dying to know what we ordered, so without further ado, here are our desserts:

Double Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream ($3.89):
101_0654.jpg

My mom loves vanilla ice cream. And what better place to eat it?

Double Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream with Mickey Ears ($3.89):
101_0657.jpg

My dad also likes vanilla ice cream. He also added on the Mickey Ears. They are just really hard discs of chocolate. These normally cost a little extra, but the CM didn’t add them in this time.

Our parents decided not to get the sundaes because they “were eating too many sweets” and “needed to start consuming fewer calories.” I have one thing to say to that: :scared1:

Luckily, my brother still had his wits about him and ordered this:
101_0653.jpg

The "Plaza" Ice Cream Sundae - Old-fashioned vanilla with Hot Fudge, whipped cream and a cherry served in a freshly made waffle bowl ($4.59). Andrew substituted Cookies ‘n’ Cream for the Vanilla. He thought this was good. The waffle bowls are made right there, so they are really fresh. They also add in a touch of cinnamon, making them extra delicious.

These three desserts came to $13.18.

And now, my friends, it is time for one of my favorite foods in all of Walt Disney World.

Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich:
101_0645.jpg

Let me just tell you a little bit about this incredible sandwich. Four scoops of vanilla ice pressed between two freshly made chocolate chip cookies that are the size of a small plate. Need I say more? :cloud9:

Oh, and yes, I did eat the entire thing. No worries though. I consumed about 2,000 calories all for the sake of this dining review.

With tax, this cost $4.47.

Hands down, no questions asked, this deserves a…

We hung around the Magic Kingdom for a while, and then headed back to POR.

Up next: We rest up and enjoy a late breakfast.

I tried a brownie paw for the first time on our last trip and your picture reminds me of just how good it was.

I love your description of Pizzafari being very Animal Kingdom-y. That's one thing I like about that place. The pizza always seems okay to me.

Your ice cream looks great, too. Is it ever possible for a meal to earn two Jack Sparrows?
