Booking through Transat?

Hey everyone,

I wonder if anyone can help me. I booked my trip through a travel agent who booked through Transat, a Canadian wholesaler. According to the TA we won't be getting our commemorative luggage tags or the vouchers that come with a Magic Your Way package because the wholesaler doesn't give them out. Anyone else run into this?

It's not an issue if we don't get them (although DH would love the arcade vouchers! :lmao:) but if we're supposed to and we don't due to the TA's error, then I'd like to fix it.

TIA!

I would *think* you could call Disney with your reservation number and get them to send your luggage tags. I've never used a TA before, but that's what I'd try.

From my experience, if a T/A books your travel, you cannot "touch" the reservations to get any information or make changes. The T/A has to do things on your behalf. This includes doing online checkin - the T/A had to do it (but didn't know how so we didn't end up not doing it at all).

Interesting, I did not know that. Thanks.

I contacted Disney and they weren't sure, so I'll have to contact Transat.

I'm sure wholesalers have different methods, but my burning question is why would your TA book through Transat as opposed to through the Walt Disney Travel Company then you would have for sure gotten luggage tags and all the aspects of a Magic Our Way Package? Did you book flights as well in a package deal and were the flights that much cheaper than booking separate?

Sounds like:
1.) Not a real Disney Vacation Specialist
2.) Didn't do due diligence - Transat is reporting a $2.9 million operating loss. Will they be another Conquest Vacations? Skyservice Airlines? Jetsgo? and leave you stranded?

I'm so LEERY of wholesalers since I was in Honduras when Conquest went under.

Transat Holidays actually happens to be the number one seller of Disney products in Canada. They often have promotions for Disney where kids fly for free which is a great budget saver and a free car rental. They offer the exact same promos you can get through Disney. You can also use loyalty points offered through a couple of tour operators to put towards the payment of a disney package if you book the package through the tour operator. Westjet Vacations also does some awesome packages and promos for Disneyland that isn't available anywhere else. They are getting the same magical experience at Disney but with extra money in their pocket. Sometimes the resort or room category a guest wants isn't available through Disney, but a tour operator will have it still in their allotment.

Also for online check-in, when I book clients, if they wish I will do the online check-in for them or they can do the online check-in themselves from the comfort of their home or office. It's there choice as to what works best for them.

Our flights are not through Transat (we used Air Miles) so no worries there.

According to the TA she booked through Transat and not Disney because she got a better deal, but when we did the math it looked like it was the same price as on the Disney site, and that was when the Canadian $$ was up. We didn't fuss because it was the same price either way.

She's definitely not a Disney specialist but in our small town there's probably no such thing. I will most likely just book my own vacation next time through Disney. We've had parts of vacations booked through Transat before and had no issues. I can't remember if we ever booked the full Disney package with them though, and therefore don't know if they've ever given out the tags/vouchers.

Just as an FYI, I have been in contact with Disney and they aren't sure about Transat's packages and whether or not I should be getting the extras, so I have an email in to Transat and I'm awaiting a response.

I appreciate your input everyone, thanks! Disboards rocks ;)
