JAMBO everybody! For those of you who know us, welcome to another TR and for those who don't, welcome to what I hope will be an exciting and fun TR for you to read. All the details of this TR are in our PTR that you can find in my siggie
Alright, time to get this started! We were fortunate enough to travel once again with my sister and her family for a fun filled 2 week stay at the Happiest Place On Earth! We were there from August 21 - September 3, we stayed at AKL in a 2 bedroom villa which we loved, once again, beyond belief! I have grown to love AKL (SSR was my favorite and is still a close second) especially the homey feel that it has. My sister and her hubby bought into DVC in 2008 and we took our first DVC vacation with them in 2009!
Let me now introduce us to you!
My darling daughter who will be 19 at the end of next month who is known here on the Dis as Jasmine, my BIL, Geodoc and my 11 year old niece Snow White.
My 7 year old niece(she turned 7 while we were there which was a very exciting day for her) Mini Montana, my sister Purplepeg, and me, Queenofallthings!
Lastly, Jeff, Jasmine's boyfriend of almost a year! It was his first trip to the world and he loved it (good thing if he's in this family) and can't wait to return! This was his signature look for the first few days, everything was thumbs up!
Let me begin with our day on August 20 which was a Saturday! Jasmine was supposed to work 1:30pm - 9:30pm that day which we looked on as a blessing considering we had manicures and pedicures booked for 9am that morning! Turned out though that she was able to only work until 530, one of her work buddies took the rest of her shift!
Nothing I love more than a pedicure...ok, one thing, my Tim Horton's coffee, right Pooksma? As you can see, I look pretty darn happy. We had stopped at Walmart on the way to the salon for a couple of last minute items, then to grab coffees and we were set! While I was getting my pedi and mani, Jasmine was getting a trim...worked perfectly!
My BFF Brenda came to spend the morning with us as we wouldn't be seeing each other for 2 weeks, this never happens and if it does we at least talk on the phone! Her daughter Kayla works part time as the receptionist at the salon we go too so I had to snap this shot of 3 of my favorite people!
After we were finished it was off to get Jasmine something to eat before dropping her off at work. I went straight home from there and relaxed...yup, you heard me right, I relaxed. I was as up to date on everything that I could be so I just wanted to enjoy my afternoon at home, the house was cleaned top to bottom, the packing was done except for the last minute items after our showers and I was a happy girl!
We have a tradtion before we leave on our vacation and that tradition is going to our local steakhouse, The Keg! It's something we've done since 1998 on our first trip...it's as much a part of our vacation as getting there! This year our Dad and Geodoc's mom joined us, along with 2 of Peg and Geodoc's friends who love Disney as much as we do!! They are 2 of the nicest people I have ever met and hope we can get together soon to chat all about this trip!
Snow White, Geodoc's mom, and our Dad
Jasmine, Peg, Me, and Mini Montana. I have absolutely no idea why I don't have pictures of our friends or Geodoc, maybe Peg took them with her camera?? After a fabulous dinner it was time to get 2 little girls home to bed for at least a few hours of sleep! Wake up time would be coming very quickly!
Jasmine and I said our goodbyes to my dad and it was harder than I thought it would be. For those of you who don't know, we lost our mom 2 weeks before our trip and tried to get our Dad to join us but he said it was just too soon but insisted we all still go. I cried on the way home because I knew how lonely he was going to be with all of us gone!
We arrived home within about 15 minutes and Jeff and his family arrived about 15 minutes after that. They had a church function that evening so they weren't able to join us. Jeff was beyond excited by the time they got to our house. Jasmine decided early on that she had to try and sleep but Jeff knew he would feel worse so he just grabbed the laptop and played one of his videogames while I was on the phone with my Aunt who lives in Toronto.
Before we knew it, it was time to shower and finish getting everything packed! The limo (it's cheaper than two families to get two cabs) was due to pick up Peg and family at 330am and then us (we're about 15 minutes from Peg). Luggage all set and ready to the loaded!
Two happy happy kids! I just knew this was going to be an awesome vacation!
Jessica, here's your picture honey! Jasmine reminded me that you said "get a picture with the limo" she adores you!! We were thrilled when Geodoc texted us and said "look for the black SUV limo coming down the street"....thank goodness, Lord knows we needed that space for the luggage for 7 people!
My sister and her very happy family!
Me and my favorite girl on earth! Now, those of you who read our PTR know that Peg's girl's didn't know Jeff was coming so here's what we did. I gave Jeff the housekey while Jasmine and I took the luggage out to be loaded. I told her to get into the limo and talk to the girls so she could distract them while Jeff put the alarm on and locked up the house. I looked at the girls and said "Well, it looks like we're all here and they said yup...when Jeff popped into the limo and said "hey, what are you guys doing in my limo?" I wish I could have captured the look on MM's face! Her mouth literally dropped open and her eyes were as wide as saucers. It brought happy tears to my eyes, I knew all the fun times they were going to have with Jeff!
What would become his signature pose.....everything was great in Jeff's world at this moment!
We arrived at the airport within 10 minutes! Love living that close! Here's another picture Jessica!!
We were flying United to Chicago then Chicago to Orlando! I was trying to keep my flight nerves in check, but I'm not gonna lie to you, a drink would have helped! Don't judge me, I too realize it's 4 am but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! Ok, I didn't...I just had a coffee!! We went straight to check in and the drama of the morning started! There was this crazy lady that kept interrupting the attendent that was trying to check us in...I mean nuts!!! She was with this other younger lady who had a pug on a leash and was carrying it's carry thingy(hope that makes sense). She doesn't realized this whole time she's in the wrong line and starts yelling at the attendents...Jasmine and I just gave each other the look! They her dog proceeds to start to go the bathroom...and she starts yelling "Great, now my dog is ^%&^& on the floor .... are you happy?" We all about lost it at this point, she was crazy and I couldn't stop laughing! So the older lady goes thru custom's and security after the young one and from the custom's line, she's yelling "Don't put the dog thru the xray machine". We were so thankful when Jasmine was able to see her boarding pass and it said DELTA!!!!! Crisis averted!!
Waiting for their Tim Horton's breakfast!!
Before we knew it, it was time to board! At this point Jasmine realizes that we have to go outside and walk across the tarmac to the plane...cool, at least it's not January and 40 below!! This is when it gets really real for me that we're actually going! I sat alone on this leg of our journey and I had a lovely young mom and her baby sitting next me! That baby was so good on the plane....or so I thought! Apparently, I slept thru the crying. Oh well, we've all been there with our babies on a plane so it's a big whatever to me!
Jasmine poked me thru the seat and said "we're landing". I looked at my watch and I said it's 710am we're not supposed to land until 8. I was then trying to figure out if Chicago was an hour ahead of us...nope! Just a great tail wind apparently!!!!
Grabbed this shot of the kids on the plane
Our plane on the runway at O'Hare
I loved Chicago airport, it was so easy to get around and I couldnt' wait for my greasy egg mcmuffin at McDonald's! I was praying the McDonald's coffee was as good in the states as it is at home and it was!! Tasted great!!
Jeff laughed at this picture! He said "Look, I look just like tourist".
Up next......Departure from Chicago and arrival at MCO!!!!!
