How many DVC owners cruise Disney/other cruises?

I am just curious. We are in the process of adding on points at VWL and the more I look at resales....in the back of my mind I can't help but think about how we could be adding on even MORE POINTS with what we are paying for our Disney cruise next summer. :scared1: It is our first cruise. We are taking the 5 night out of NYC.

We take cruises as well as take vacations to WDW in conjuction with the cruises. Once you start the disney cruises, you will want to take others.

We're parked out right now and have been doing DCL and ABD trips with our points. We will need a park fix before too much longer and will go to either WDW or DL. This is one of the reasons we love our DVC membership! We're not stuck at the same resort for the same week every year!

Disney cruises in general are more expensive than others. The only way to know if it's "worth it" really is to go on one! We are grandparents, and enjoy cruising a lot. We stick to other cruise lines except when we go with the DGC. Another time I would book DCL would be for another Member Cruise, once I retire.

We were cruising people long before we became timeshare people. We've tried DCL but aren't thrilled by them. We'd rather focus on the destinations than the ship for our future cruises.

We cruise regularly with DCL - became hooked back in 2007. Yes it is expensive BUT our family really enjoys it. While it is more expensive than some park trips you have to remember you are getting the food and entertainment included in the price.....or at least that is what I always tell myself.

I have taken Disney cruises and other cruises. Until recently I would have said Disney was worth the premium. Now..... well.... NO! They expanded too fast, service is not what is was, the new ships are PACKED etc...

If I cruise Disney again it will just be because I have some extra points. Cash will go to other cruise lines that offer better ports, comparable service and MUCH lower prices.

We did the DCL line about ten years ago. Four night eastern Caribbean. Once was enough for me. We used points for our trip.

yeah I was kind of thinking that way

We are taking the Magic ....so from what I have read...it is a great ship. I don't want to go on the HUGE new ones.

OK, now you KNOW we love our DCL's!! Just got back from a lifetime event for us with the Med cruise. This was our 4th DCL cruise. And yes, we re-booked onboard for another "placeholder" cruise!!:goodvibes Wish we could afford to go more often.

Don't you even THINK about canceling your Magic cruise!! You will be wishing it was longer than just 5 nights!!

We cruise but generally RCL. You'll come out ahead in terms of money, headaches and risk if you just put the money aside you'd pay for the points up front and yearly in maint fees.

:lmao: I knew you would reply on here LeeAnn. LOL

I worked in the cruise industry for 18 years and was "cruised out," but, after 8 years away from it, I'm taking my first cruise with DCL in two weeks. After going to the parks multiple times per year for the past 30 years and becoming DVC members 2.5 years ago, if we were going to cruise again, it had to be DCL. We're really looking forward to it.

Just FYI - Cruising is TOTALLY worth it no matter who you sail. Just make sure you get the right fit for your personality and travel preferences.

We are not using points for the cruise.

We have been on a number of cruises - mainly Princess and NCL. We have been on one DCL cruise (Disney Magic - Western Caribbean). We did use points for our DCL cruise and I felt it was a good use of the points. We will probably sail again using points but next time only use points for one person and pay cash for the second person. It just takes too many points for both of us.

What we love about DVC is the flexibility. :goodvibes. We have used points to cruise as well as cash, and a combo of both too. We go to the parks some years, DCL some, and the concierge collection other years. We do it all, and enjoy every moment. We love DCL cruising, but given the cost (points and/or cash), I can see why people balk. I think you need to do what is best for your family, and situation, and make sure you enjoy it all. :thumbsup2

We have our third cruise coming up on the Magic in one month, one week, one day:banana:

We have always paid cash for our cruises. We save our points for WDW!:wizard:
