And They Lived Happily Ever After - A June '11 Disneymoon TR! THE END - NEW PTR!

SO sorry about the sun burn! Funny thing is that I got a TERRIBLE one on our honeymoon :goodvibes I yelled at my DH for two days straight, even walking down 7 mile beach in Jamaica. I don't do well with pain either :lmao:

Sunburns suck, but at least it didn't really show in your pictures. ;)

Emma, I read your reply without really looking at the poster name and thought "hey, I just read a TR where the couple got that room as well, what a coincidence! Oh wait, it IS her!":rotfl:

Oh, no!!! :headache: I was afraid by the warning on your last post that you got a bad sunburn! Those are the worst! I had an entire vacation ruined by one. I fell asleep on the beach my first day and was woken up by a stranger HOURS later! I had bad sun poisoning and horrible blisters and stayed in the hotel the entire week sicker than a dog... not fun! I sure hope that you woke up feeling tons better the next day!!! :goodvibes

You look beautiful with or without your usual makeup routine!

:( Sunburns are horrible!!! I'm sorry you got sunburned!!! It looks like you enjoyed your dinner for the most part though!!!

I feel so bad about your burn! The same thing happened to me on our first beach day during a vacation this summer so I was miserable for the next few days. It was awful!! Aloe was my best friend (when it worked).

I loved Narcoossee's. I remember when we were trying to find the restaurant itself we too were amazed by how beautiful the GF was... we hadn't really ever left the lobby before. So pretty!

Oh no, sunburn. I'm always so paranoid at water parks and I apply, apply, apply. I got the worst sunburn at a water park in Wisconsin Dells when I was about 19. My skin turned purple and blistered all over. I know exactly what you mean about having fair skin.

I have never eaten at Narcoosees. I love the look and the location of the restaurant.

I was definitely paranoid after our day at TL! I carried my sunscreen around everywhere and was constantly applying it!

I am fair skinned, like you and burn to a crisp with very little sun exposure. I have found that Noxema (the white cream) takes the sting out. It goes on thick and feels so nice (as it is really cold) and then I leave it on for a few minutes then get in a cool shower. Helps SO much with the burning. (i have also heard tha vinegar helps, but it is stinky!). My DH is Armenian and much like Miguel, never burns, he only gets darker. Thankfully our kids got his skin tone (not as dark but nice all the same!).

Your pictures reminded me that I am pretty sure we ate in the GF when I was 17..my uncle worked for WDW and we went to dinner....then the gift shop all for 40% off!!!! My dad paid the bill, but it was nice to get most of the souvies we wanted.....too bad he doesn't work there anymore. WDW paid for him to go back for his MBA (he was a manager at the CR, then while in school he stepped down and was a waiter at WCC, less hours and decent money). He got it and later parted ways with the mouse....With 3 kids of my own I could really use that discount now! LOL!

Thanks for the tip about the Noxema! I wish I had of had some that night - I was so miserable! That aloe did nothing! :sad2:

How neat that your uncle used to work for Disney! My grandfather used to be pretty high up with a grocery store chain and he had some connections with Coca Cola, so we got free tickets at least once a year! It was really nice!

Ugh my fair skin weeps for you. Hope you felt better real soon!

I hate my fair skin sometimes! :headache:

Oh no!!! Sunburn is the worst!!!! I have to say though I don't think you look bad in those pictures at all!

I love all of your GF pictures- it is such a beautiful resort.

Aww, thank you! I certainly felt like I looked terrible! Especially while I was in such a pretty resort. :sad2:

OMG how awful about the sunburn :sad1: My DH has skin that looks very similar to yours, he NEVER tans, only burns and/or gets more freckled  We are also planning on going to the water parks during our vacation because he's never been (when he went to Disney before) and that is right up his alley, he's really excited about it. I just bought 4 tubes of 50 spf sunscreen yesterday for this trip because I'm worried about him burning too.

I also just booked a reservation to that French restaurant you guys liked, I'm so easily influenced lol.

Since I've never been to Disney is a huge hassle to just go to Epcot to eat and then leave for MK?

My freckles definitely get darker when I've been out in the sun. I hate it! :headache:

Yay for making and ADR at Chefs! I think you will really enjoy it! I think you will be fine to eat at Epcot and then go over to the MK. Just make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to get between the two parks. I would say at least an hour. The French pavillion is way at the back of Epcot, so I would give myself 20 - 30 minutes to walk to the front of the park, depending on your speed. The monorail ride, I believe, takes 13 minutes. Don't forget to factor in any waiting time at the monorail platform, too. :goodvibes

Sorry about the sunburn! I burn pretty easily also (as does my husband, who is a redhead), so I know how easy it is to get caught up in the fun at Disney and wind up completely burned. But don't worry about how you look in the photos! You do have a bit of a rosy glow on your cheeks, but you are also absolutely adorable, it overrides the sunburn. :goodvibes

Aww, thank you! I felt like a tomato! :lmao: I guess it didn't look too bad in the pictures, though. :goodvibes

Girl, I know your pain! It is impossible for me to tan-- always just burn! Glad your dinner was nice, though! The GF is such a romantic hotel!

I wish, for once in my life, that I could get a tan!

UGH! I Hate sunburns! I get them quite badly too, so I know how painful it can be...and I always feel like kicking myself afterward, because it's generally my fault for not applying sunscreen (or not reapplying later in the day)!

However, I have to say, you did not look terrible for your dinner date at Narcoosees! In fact, you looked really pretty! The white dress and creamy pink cardigan really suit your complexion and hair color.

I was definitely kicking myself! If only I would have made the walk over to the lockers to get my sunscreen. :headache:

Aww, thank you! :goodvibes

I know how that goes with sunburns...I am either pale or burnt :rotfl: I am hoping it got better quick!!

That is very cool how they have the personalized menu for your honeymoon!!

That's my two shades, too! :lmao: I thought the menu was a nice touch. :goodvibes

I'm so sorry about your sunburn! Unfortunately, I know all too well just how you felt. You looked just like me when I get too much sun--all your freckles really stand out!!

Dinner sounded lovely...I just hate that you didn't enjoy it as much as you could have if you had felt better!

I'm glad that you didn't have a problem going to sleep. I hope that the burn got better for the rest of the trip!

I hate how, on top of having to walk around all red, my freckles stand out more, too! :headache:

Catching up—

I had never been to a water park (not much of a swimmer) before our last trip. We went to Typhoon Lagoon, and I loved it! It is so peaceful there. I will admit though, I hated the wave pool. I let DF stay out in it and I sat on a ledge at the far back side of it, and even there, the water came at me like crazy! But on a plus, we loved the donuts too :thumbsup2

Oh no! That stinks about your sunburn. They are never fun. Like you, I have pretty fair skin and always have to be SO careful. I never tan! At least it wasn’t as bad as your one when you were younger. That sounds incredibly painful!

The GF does look beautiful at night. We are trying to decide between trying that for the honeymoon, or stick with the Poly, which we absolutely love. Decisions, decisions!

I really hope you felt better the next day. I know from experience what a miserable feeling it is! Can’t wait to read the next one:goodvibes

I sat on that ledge, too! I only sat there for a minute, though, because when the wave came in I was practically knocked over! That wave pool and I just did not get along!

I'm excited to see where you end up going for your honeymoon. I vote for the Poly! :goodvibes

yay you got a picture of my room at the GF! :cutie: (that block of four balconies.. our's was the lower right one :cloud9:)

Sounds like a lovely day at Typhoon Lagoon, it's so nice to discover a 'new' part of WDW isn't it.. a few trips ago, DH played golf at some of the courses, and although I don't play golf I was a little jealous that he'd got to see some areas of WDW that I'd never been! :rolleyes1

So sorry to hear about the sunburn... I've had some awful burns when we've been on vacation in the caribbean, so much so that I actually went for a few short sunbed sessions before honeymoon because I was sure I'd burn again! :upsidedow
Hope it calms down by the next day :goodvibes

Narcoosees looked lovely - it was the one GF restaurant we didn't go to, but think we will next trip.. revisit our honeymoon resort!

Hope you have a lovely weekend,

Emma princess: x

Aww, I love that I got a picture of your room! I thought about you two while we were at the GF that night! :goodvibes

It was so much fun getting to experience something new at Disney - even if it did mean I took home a terrible souvineer. :sad1:

Aw I feel so bad about your sunburn!! Those are the worst and they make you so miserable. I hate sunburns!!!

Ouch about the Cancun sunburn!!!! That sounds soo painful.

I still ache when I think about my Cancun sunburn. Thankfully I haven't had anything come close to that. Hopefully I never will!

I just found your trip report and I am loving it!! Congrats on your marriage and on your Disneymoon!! Sunburns are the worst. My husband and I got married almost 2 years ago and for our honeymoom we went on a Disney Cruise. I got the worst sunburn on Castaway Cay. But we have to make the best of it because we are in DISNEY!! Can't wait to hear more.:)

:welcome: So glad to have you joining in! :goodvibes I agree - if I have to be sunburned, might as well be at Disney! :lmao:

sorry about the sunburn :( I love all your pics, so pretty :) The personalized menus are cute too!!

I loved the menus! They were a nice touch. :goodvibes

It's amazing how terrible it makes you feel! I literally felt like I had come down with something. I'm glad I could just go to sleep. I probably would have been pretty irritable otherwise! :lmao:

You look beautiful with or without your usual makeup routine!

Ouch! That sounds terrible! That is the main reason that I can not fall asleep laying out in the sun. I am terrified of that happening! :scared1:

:( Sunburns are horrible!!! I'm sorry you got sunburned!!! It looks like you enjoyed your dinner for the most part though!!!

We did enjoy Narcoossees - probably not as much as if I didn't have the burn, but it was still a good meal. :goodvibes

Same with us - all of our previous trips to the GF just consisted of exploring the lobby. It's so pretty and peaceful outside!

DAY 4 – Pt. 1

During a vacation, the first time visiting a particular park is always so exhilarating! I had no trouble waking up again this morning, because we were going to Animal Kingdom! I know if kind of goes without saying, but Miguel and I love AK. It holds two of our favorite rides, Expedition Everest and Kilamanjaro Safari, and we were both really excited to be trying out Yak & Yeti for the first time.

Knowing I would need some nourishment before lunch, though, I headed over to Captain Cooks to pick up some breakfast while Miguel got ready. I had a hard time choosing between the famed Tonga toast and the croissant sandwhich, but I ultimately decided on the sandwich. I also filled up our mugs while there – diet coke for me and coffee for Miguel. Love those mugs!

My sandwich was pretty good. Definitely not as good as the croissants from the Main Street Bakery, but it hit the spot. As soon as I finished up, Miguel was done getting dressed and we headed out!

After what seemed like a very long time, we arrived at AK. It was about 9:30 at this point and I was hoping that the crowds wouldn’t be too bad already, but the parking lot was packed! I wish I had snapped a picture but I think I was too anxious over just getting in the park and getting a spot in the EE line! Haha.

I did of course find the time to stop for a PP picture!

We made a mad dash for Asia, and I quickly got us a set of FPs before we hopped in line.

Love this attraction!

After we soared through the mountain, we thought it would be a good time to head over to Africa and see some animals!

When we got over to Kilamanjaro, the posted wait time was 40 minutes, more than we usually wait, but being such big fans of the ride, we hopped in line anyway and hoped for the best.

We ended up waiting the full 40 minutes for the safari, but it was actually really nice. Being under a covered, at times fanned area was much better than being out in the blazing sun with no relief!

Soon enough though we had made it to the final stages of the queue and we were boarding our safari bus!

Our bus was full of a girls volleyball team, so unfortunately the safari guide was kind of drowned out by laughing, screaming girls, but that didn’t affect the richness of our ride. We got to see some amazing animals including probably the best view of the lions that we had ever seen!

This ride just never gets old for me! It always makes me want to take a real African safari!

When we arrived back in Harambe, we exited our bus, thankful to get away from the screaming girls! We then happened upon someone we don’t always get to see: Divine!

We stood and watched her for a good 5 minutes – she is so mesmerizing!

When we finally tore ourselves away, we decided to head back to the Asia area and grab some FPs for Kali before our lunch ADR. I feel like I’m always going back and forth between Aisa and Africa when I’m at AK!

We had a little extra time before lunch, so we decided to go ahead and use up our EE FPs.

After our ride, I spotted a PP photographer and we had to stop! This photographer was really into his job, and took lots of time with each family that he was photographing. We probably spent 15 minutes between waiting and having our pictures made, but it was worth it, because he got some great shots!

By this point, we were starving! Thankfully, it was time to check in at Y&Y!

Up Next: Lunch at Y&Y and a fun afternoon

I so wanted to see Devine when we were at AK last time but we never saw her. Maybe on our next trip:).

So sorry to hear about your sunburn! :headache: On our last trip to Disney last March we had spent a few days at the beach prior to our arrival at Ft. Wilderness. My kids were so sunburned and miserable. Even though it was the first time my kids ever had sunburns, I still felt like the world's worst mother. We had applied the sunscreen but since it was so cool at the beach (@ 67 degrees) we didn't do the reapplication and they all got so toasty.

Anyway, I sure hope your sunburn pain subsided and you enjoyed the rest of your honeymoon. I am loving your honeymoon trip report! :lovestrucYou both look so happy and beautiful and relaxed!!! My dh and I will be married 20 years in 2013 and we are considering doing the Food and Wine Festival for our anniversary!

Well, I can't wait to read the next installment! :yay:

Ha ha I love your faces in the PP picture where you're holding Tinkerbell! :rotfl: I love reading your TR and it's for sure inspiration for me when I come back from my (upcoming) trip. I also can't wait to hear about Yak and Yeti...my husband and I have lunch ADR's there for October. Oh, AND I grew up in Georgia too! (Warner Robins...) So I'm pretty much a big lurking fan but I had to actually say hello this time! :)

I have never seen DiVine before, but I am making the effort this time around for sure!

Your photopass pictures turned out really great. I love how scared you look of Tinkerbell though. :lmao:

Wow! That picture of the lioness (sp?) is amazing!

You also got some pretty good photopass shots. I especially love your faces with Tinkerbell, and your "fierce" pose. :D

The Tink picture is absolutely priceless!! The look on both of y'alls faces is just too cute and funny at the same time...I love it!:rotfl:

Though AK is not my favorite park, I have to admit that I always feel like I have escaped from a theme park into a new country, it really is amazing how it is designed and kept up :goodvibes

I am not either. I have only been there once and went on a few rides. But after reading so many TR about AK and seeing the pictures I want to try it again. It looks like so much fun. It is very beautiful there also and I love the animals.

AK is my least favorite park, but I still really like to explore it, and I love Expedition Everest! :thumbsup2

You got some great pictures on the safari! And your Photopass pics are so cute, I love the one with Tink! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear how you liked Yak and Yeti, I really want to try it someday!

Hi there! I'm joining in for the adventure! You two are a lovely couple, and it looks like you are having a wonderful, magical honeymoon. How lucky that you were able to have such a long trip, I'm sure it really took the pressure off of seeing everything, and you could just relax and enjoy!
