DISmoms 3! If the Tiara fits... 5/13-5/17/11 Complete! 11/8!

Wow Laura, you were up really, really early or is that really, really late. Love your report. Did you take a picture of the t-shirt? When Sarah and I were in Disney in June there was a purse I kept looking at and decided if I still wanted it when we returned in August I would buy it. Well, when we returned I could not find it anywhere. :sad2: On our last day we were in some off the wall shop and there it was, they had three left. Lucky me, I got my purse. ::yes::

We were lucky this year traveling to Disney twice in one summer. We have never visited in the summer before, nor twice in the same year. The weather in June was hot but manageable for us, August, not so much. I do not think we will go again in August. Our trip was fun but the heat sapped the energy from us very quickly.

you are right Kate two times in one year is a fun thing. My favorite was the year that I was able to do DL and WDW 5 months apart. Thank goodness for work trips. Yup I was up in the middle of the night. With this pacemaker, I'm not sleeping too well. It paces me at all times of the day and night. So I am learning to live with it.

I have not visited DL since moving east. My family has never experienced Disneyland so I think that may be our next Disney trip. Maybe I will be able to find a conference so we can travel during the cooler months. :cloud9:

Geeze, that sucks regarding the pacemaker keeping you awake at night. Will this be a continuing issue or will your body become adapt to it in time and you will be able to return to your pre-pacemaker life?

That really stinks for you- I can't wait until Mayo sees you- any idea when you'll go?

And thanks so much for writing a post, especially given your circumstances- it feels so much more like a group TR when I'm not the only one writing it!! (HINT HINT to everyone ELSE) :rolleyes1

And FWIW, I think we ALL cry every time we see the castle- it always feels like a dream come true when you are there in it's path!

No power at our house since Sunday morning...it's making for an interesting few days. I'm hoping it comes back soon, but we are being told it could be not until Friday or later. Ack! I'm exhausted having to deal with two kids who are afraid of the dark and are not comforted much by the camping lanterns they have been provided. Plus the cold shower I had to take this morning and the lack of hot coffee are not doing much for my ability to keep a positive attitude. Which is why I am glad we are all stocked up on wine from the Finger Lakes Wine Fest!

All the food had to be thrown out and everything that lasted is going to have all be BBQ'd tonight. I should just have a party.

So, now I'm at work and can do the important stuff like check in with this thread! And, yes, I can see the H20challengosis of that photo....still a cute pic regardless.:)

Oops......:guilty:

Well, duh.......:rotfl2:

Video??? What video??? This one???

O-KAY....since you asked so nicely....

But isn't Timmy much more talented???

LMAO! Timmy is pretty awesome but you ladies could rock the karaoke bar for sure! Look out on the cruise!!!!

We had decided to go to MK this Sunday morning, because, well...we hadn't been there yet!! And because we would be having High Tea at the GF that afternoon, so it all kind of fit. Evie and Laura were so happy to be in the happiest place on earth, they decided to dance in the streets-

Kind of makes you wonder what the heck Evie put in her morning brew, doesn't it?

Aw, love it!!!

I was so glad we had waited until today to come to MK, because the skies were bright blue and sunny- just can't do MK in the rain as well as the other parks, KWIM? We all decided to zig left, and went towards Adventureland. Where I said hello to some friends...

Oh YEAH! There they are!!!

:monkey:

Look how brave Lonnie was!!

Go Lonnie!!

We were all really curious about the Fantasyland expansion, so that's where we went next.
And we took a minute to be nostalgic about this-

I always liked it too. Not so much in recent years as the Grand Stroller Depot of the World, but I loved the Skyride (was totally terrified of it as a kid). Man that view was awesome (ok except for the Fantasyland roofs).

It was SO EXCITING to see how much was done!!

It is really going to be amazing. I shudder to think of how busy it will be when the expansion opens!!!

As the rest of the gals headed to POTC, Joan and I headed to the Outpost for a quick "snack" which ended up being a full blown lunch!!!!

We snarfed it down SOOOOO fast, thinking that the line for POTC would be really short and the rest of our party would be stuck waiting for us, but as we texted and texted, nobody answered.

We begain to take it personally. As we should have. We have our issues.......

:rotfl2:

So to make ourselves feel better, we found this.

Had to shove a few kids and an old lady in a wheelchair out of the way, but I still managed to score a spot in the front row.

Then when Captain Jack asked for volunteers, I had to control Joan - cause there she was jumping up and down yelling, "Me! Me! Me! Oh, pick ME Captain Jack cause I loooooooove you!!!!"

That Joan, always the obnoxious one of the bunch!;):rolleyes1

Off we rolled to hit the VERY scary, BTMRR........ If only Lonnie had the nerve to ride this, but there is no way! She can't go on anything that goes over 10 feet in the air because of the very rare heightchallengosis disease she has. It causes her head to spin around, thereby making her very ill. Not to mention everyone nearby who pulls out garlic and holds up crosses to ward her off!!!

Head spinning is OK- just so long as there is no pea soup vomit. Plenty of garlic and crosses to be found on folks in the BTMRR line I'm sure, so all is well!:rotfl2:

Wait, I think I mixed up a couple things there......
Only in a
Dismoms TR....

But apparently Ellen's meds were NOT working!!! Cause that H2Ochallengosis was really coming on with a vengeance!!!

Oh NO! :rotfl:

We were all looking forward to Tea once again, at the GF- it really is SUCH a girly thing, and for me, it is something I could NEVER have tried if it wasn't for my DISmom pals. :cutie: So here we were-

We were actually seated at the same table we had last year, AND we had the same server as last year, too! She remembered us, too! Not that we're surprised....I think we do tend to leave SOME sort of impression on the masses, whether it's good or bad.......

And wouldn't have it any other way!

Most of us went with theThe Grand Tea - The classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style. We offer you a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of Domaine Ste.-Michelle sparkling wine and your choice of tea. $29.00 per guest. Iron Horse Cuvee $6.00. -

Aren't they practically perfect??

In every way!!!

Laura, though, decided to try a new one, Princess Kate Tea - A Spring tea served with a classic dish of potted shrimp followed by a medley of cheeses, an array of seasonal fruits, and cheddar cheese biscuits. A scone, jam tart, and a selection of delicate pastries is accompanied by a glass of Veuve Cliquot champagne and your choice of tea. $38.00 per guest. It began with the potted shrimp-

Something about the term "potted shrimp" is decidely yucky to me. ;)

We were starting with tea sandwiches, which are one of my favorite things in the world-

Laura then had a LOT of cheese, fruit & cheddar biscuits-

YUM!

While we had the world's BEST scone-

Double YUM!

As if that wasn't enough, we were offered a gorgeous selection of pastries-
It's so HARD to CHOOSE!!
I HAVE to get the swan-

We could also have chosen-

IMG_3629.jpg

Hallelujah! Is that angel harp music I hear? Lordy that is amazing I'll have *THAT* bowl please!

After tea, we all went shopping next door....I think all of us were trying on dresses, but I think Lonnie was the only one who ended up making a purchase in there- which she wore the next day- and we continued the shopping spree in the Basin store, which was SO BEAUTIFUL!

It is but the mixture of smells in Basin gives me a headache. And I LOVES me a frothy, bubbly aromatherapeutic bath...it's just at Basin too...:confused3

I stocked up on pretty soaps, a lip scrub and shampoo bars, and then we were on our way....

I know I'm tired. I read that as "potty soaps" LOL!

The woman who sits in the GF with the dolls was there, and Laura and I went over to say hello. And she was sooo happy we did, it was really sweet! I forget her exact story, but I know Laura knows it and hopefully she can impart some of it here....

Aw, I have read about her here, but never seen her!

Anyway, we were back on the monorail...

on our way to Epcot-

And was we strolled around in FW on our way to Mehico I was looking up into the monorails waving thinking you all would be in there knowing you would be taking pictures looking down and I would be in them. I don't see me. :rotfl2:
Because it was almost time for our crazy evening to begin at La Hacienda and beyond....hang on everyone, you're in for quite a ride! Up next-

Woo-hoo! Bring on the crazy! :yay:

I know it seems like we just ate, but we had more food plans- and I guess we must have done SOMETHING before we went to La Hacienda, but I sure don't remember what! Anyway, we were going there just to try their Ritas and to split a couple of appys....and MOST important of ALL, we were going to be joined by an honarary DISmom, Jen- Nenner1! SO we put in our name (we did have an ADR, though) and proceeded to wait...

Soon we were joined by Jen and her family-

Let the fun begin!!

Glad you all didn't notice me RUN down the temple steps and through he throngs over to you barreling through old fogeys on EVC's and babies in strollers!
:woohoo:

I was lucky to be on the Magic in October with them, and it was so wonderful to be able to say hi again so soon!! They were celebrating Sarah's birthday, and had been having a blast. Of course, I thought it was Savannah's Bday, so she's the one who got a gift- sorry Sarah!! I owe you one, little girlfriend!

Aww, you were just so sweet to bring a gift!!! :lovestruc Sav LOVES her top! And I had to promise that one day before she is all grown up we will make it up to NYC!!!

Ron was going to take the kids and Jen was going to join us for some girl time, and we were all very appreciative! But Sav looked like she wanted to join us, and since she IS a 25 year old stuck inside a 5th graders body, we let her tag along.
Dismom in training. Can you imagine...when she is a DisMOM we will be DisGrandmas! :rolleyes1:laughing:

We actually waited for quite a while for a table, but we were adding an extra person in, and they were very accomodating. Finally, we went inside-

It didn't seem like long to me, I was enjoying catching up with you all!

The REAL reason we were here-

IMG_3665.jpg

Hellllooooooo RITA!!!!

We had heard that there were some different Ritas in this place, and you just KNOW whenever Rita's around, we have to go and say hi!

Hell-oooooo Rita!

OK I officially have been around you guys too much b/c I *SWEAR* I had not read ahead when I made the comment above!!!

This was a Mango Blueberry Basil Margarita - El Mayor premium silver Tequila, coconut rum, orange juice, mango, blueberries, basil, served on the rocks with a hibiscus salt rim. - $13.00
and it was YUMMM-OOOOO!

It was Ah-ma-zing!!!! Best Rita Evah!

And some sort of a tequila flight-

And someone had Orange Mango Fire Margarita - El Mayor premium Tequila, ginger liqueur, orange juice, mango, fresh lime juice, a hint of tabasco sauce, served on the rocks with a Tajin chili powder rim - $12.50

The drinks were really delicious....but we found out later (from a bartender over at the Ditch) that they are made with Oasis- not pure nectars, like the Ditch's are. That same bartender told us that he could supply those same Ritas over at the Ditch, and vice-versa- FYI. For apps to share, we had Taquiza - Taco trio featuring rib eye taco with chipotle salsa, roasted chicken taco with salsa verde and Chilorio(marinated pork) taco. - $10.75

I had part of the rib-eye one, and it was AMAZING- I heard on the podcast that there is a ribeye taco this year at the Mexico stand for F&W....I hope it's the same one!! :lovestruc We also tried- Queso Fundido - Melted Cheese with poblano peppers, chorizo and flour tortillas - $12.50

Which I would say was not the greatest- I would stick with the tacos.

All those chips made us thirsty, so I believe we ordered another round (BTW- we had told our server that we were only there for drinks and apps, and he was good with that, it's no problemo, senorita!).

Helloooooo Rita....

I didn't! I didn't read ahead!!!

Next thing you know, it was picture time-

Then it was crazeeee time-

IMG_3682.jpg

Gee....tequila is a LOT of fun, doncha think?? :rotfl:

OK, I don't remember that part...At ALLLLLLL!!!!!:upsidedow

Here is the whole gang in all of our glory!

We sadly said our good-byes, and it was time to move on to our next adventure....ITSK pics the likes of which the world has NEVER seen!! Up next!

Ah, but will we meet again somewhere along World Showcase? Any guesses where faithful groupies? (or have enough pages gone by since I quoted all these posts that you all already know?? :lmao:

Just because I think these awesome shots of Right Said Kara need to be on every page from here on out.

:rotfl:

And this is BEFORE the slushie stand!!!!!! :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

And this is BEFORE the slushie stand!!!!!! :rolleyes1

Oh my - we need to see some pictures from AFTER the slushie stand

And sometimes, I like to take my fingers and ................:rotfl2:

I never knew there was a skyride there! My first trip to WDW was in 87 as a teenager? When was it taken out?

I did the armpit part for Ally the other day and she about flipped!!!! :rotfl2:

I remember the skyride was there in 1998, and the buildings have remained even after they removed the ride. It almost looks like they are going to turn the building where the queues were into some sort of entrance to the backside of Fantasyland? Or maybe for one of the new attractions back there? :confused3

Stopped by Target today to buy a can of mixed nuts and saw "Blue Diamond Almonds with Wasabi & Soy Sauce". They were on sale so I had to buy them. Yummmm, they go every well with red wine.

Life in our neck of the woods has settled down and I now am caught up the the DISmoms report. What a trip!

Kara, thank you for letting me know how DISmoms began. :rotfl: I think Jeff is right, you could end up on 20/20 with all the other DISmoms right beside you.

Update on Sarah's mishap with her brand new retainer, her doctor was able to trim off the melted part. It appears to have worked. The gap between her front teeth has disappeared again. The doc said he thought this was the only area where the teeth were shifting. We go back next week for a checkup but for now all seems to be ok. Thanks everyone for your stress reducing words. :grouphug:

I'll be back to answer replies later- just wanted to post an update-
When the crowds died down from Kara's photoshoot and we were able to move again, we headed over to Germany so Princess Joanie could guzzle a BIG beer....

IMG_3703.jpg

IMG_3704.jpg

Cheers!

IMG_3706.jpg

BIG beer is sooooo funny!
IMG_3707.jpg

Then Kara started acting up because she wasn't getting enough attention, so she did the Macarena-

IMG_3708.jpg

Oh...that Kara Jean! It was dusk, and you know what that means-

IMG_3701.jpg

It's time to wear doll clothes to the park!

IMG_3700.jpg

Really? Could it BE any shorter??

IMG_3705.jpg

We walked over to see the band, because it was HERMAN'S HERMIT'S (I knew that!!).

IMG_3710.jpg

So..... Evie did her best, most uninhibited dancing to try to get their attention-

IMG_3711.jpg

Second verse, same as the first!!

IMG_3713.jpg

Go Evie!! She was really channeling a Big fat wife slaughtering King from long ago! WOOHOOO!!!!!

IMG_3714.jpg

IMG_3716.jpg

OK...now THAT was FUNNY!! :rotfl2:

We made beeline over to France, and ran into Jen and the fam at the Slushie cart! What a surprise!! Jen likes slushies, too!:dance3: Then went to visit the store, where we purchased our own personal taste test (well, Lonnie, Evie & I did, anyway) to compare the two fine champagnes (pronounced Sham-pan-yas) they offered. We were happy to see our favorite Frenchie again-

IMG_3717.jpg

Seriously, if you run into Sophie in France, PLEASE go say hi from us- she was just the BEST!

Anyway, some girls went to do some shopping (on this trip, someone was ALWAYS shopping!) and the rest of us decided to commandeer a little corner of France for ourselves.

IMG_3718.jpg

OMG, this was the BEST thing- that whole area of France was vacant because Illuminations was going to start soon, and sitting there, sipping fine sham-pan-yas in the moonlight, at a table at a pretend cafe....it really felt like we were in France! It was sooooo nice!

IMG_3721.jpg

Illuminations began, and it provided, while not the BEST view, certainly a different one.

IMG_3725.jpg

Well, we had seen Illuminations the night before, so we were all perfectly happy in our little corner of Paris. We actually stayed there for quite a while after the fireworks ended- the park was closed, but we could still sit there and enjoy the ambience of deserted Pareeee...

IMG_3727.jpg

And besides, Joan still had to give birth to a Vera Bradley purse-
IMG_3731.jpg

Eventually, it was time to go- although we really could have stayed longer if we had wanted to- no one was kicking us out.

IMG_3732.jpg

IMG_3733.jpg

IMG_3734.jpg

We all LOVED walking out so late, having the park to ourselves- C'est Magnifique!

Up next...the shenanigans continue! Seriously!! There is still MORE to come!!:dance3:

Ellen, you know I'm a HUGE fan of hanging out in World Showcase after Illuminations! They really don't kick you out! We stayed so long once, by the time we made it to the bus stop, they just asked us where we were going and put us on the next bus and we were the only ones. It is so great to watch everyone rush out and just sit and listen to the music and relax!

BTW, I have the same shirt AND bag that Joan had that day! But it looks like it took her much to long to drink that beer!

And besides, Joan still had to give birth to a Vera Bradley purse-
IMG_3731.jpg

:rotfl2:OMG, I am SERIOUSLY never drinking again!!! (at least when you have a camera pointed at me!). What WAS I trying to say? :confused3
Maybe I was describing the BIG BEER?:drinking1 ;)
Me thinks it's time to invest in some curly straws and sit demurely in the corner drinking chocolate milk with Kara! :lmao:

You are so right, Nikki...love staying there and enjoying nighttime at Epcot without the chaos and rush! :goodvibes!

BTW, I have the same shirt AND bag that Joan had that day! It must be a Scotch Plains thing!
But it looks like it took her much to long to drink that beer!
In my defense (??), I DID purchase another beer and pour it into my BIG glass! Nothin' quite as ladylike as drinking out of a BIG mug! :rotfl:

I'm :lmao: right now. I love seeing people have so much fun.

HeHe! Love the photos! Trust you to find the only Monkee in Epcot!

Was it good Shampangnay? :confused3

People who say there is no difference between the cheap stuff and the expensive stuff have never had the expensive stuff! Believe me there is a difference. :thumbsup2

The only valid excuse for leaving Epcot any earlier than you did would be to find another drink!:cool1:
