And They Lived Happily Ever After - A June '11 Disneymoon TR! THE END - NEW PTR!

I am glad you enjoyed yourself at TL :)

We had a lot of fun! :goodvibes

So glad you enjoyed the Segway tour! I really would like to do that tour again now that I can ride a Segway. :thumbsup2

Chefs de France: That flatbread looked delicious as did your French mac & cheese! Have you seen Ratatouille since you've been back?? I love that movie.

So cool that you did the Pick a Pearl! I've never done it myself but you got a great one!

Cute wedding souvenirs! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: for almost being done with school!!

Sounds like you had a great time at TL!

I think I would like the Segway better the second time around so that I wouldn't be so nervous starting out! :lmao: Sadly, I haven't seen Ratatouille yet! I'd really like to start doing a Disney movie night because there are so many of the newer movies that I haven't seen, and Miguel still needs to see some of the classics! :scared1:

TL is my favorite water park, though we've only been there once! I really hate that you couldn't find Crush N' Gusher, as I think you would have enjoyed it! Sorry that you didn't like the wave pool, but I can understand why! You do have to be careful!

I've heard about those donuts before, so they are definitely going to be on my list the next time we head back to TL!

Awesome update, by the way!!

I am definitely going to make it to Crush n Gusher next time! I think we would really like it. I know that Miguel would love it! :goodvibes

I really enjoy typhon Lagoon. My experiences there have been great minus the first time I went. It was towards the end of the day and I was running to play some game they were doing and my foot caught one of the beach chairs and down I went. At first my mom and dad thought I had just really stubbed my toe, but after about an hour my foot had swelled to an ungodly size. When we got back in to town my paents took me to the hospital and I had acctually broken my foot. My two little toe still do this weid curving thing where they curve behiend my middle left toe on my left foot. Needless to say, no more running at typhon Lagoon! Other than that though, I love going to Disney's waterparks. I am glad you and Miguel had a good time here.

Oh no! Disney would be a terrible place for a foot injury! I could see how you could get caught up in something there, though. I was surprised at just how many lounge chairs there were! I felt like I was weaving in and out of a maze!

Oh yay tl!! Yeah crush n gusher is hard to find my bf and I took some time to find it. I personally like BB better . The wave pool is fun, and it actually is a little easier if you go out farther you just have to know to swim into the wave and you don't get knocked down like you do in the shallow end.
Thanks for the hanger!

I am so glad that I'm not the only one that couldn't find Crush n Gusher! While I was there I thought that I must be even more directionally challenged than I thought! :lmao:

The two little islands at the very beginning of the wave pool actually create some side waves in the middle. The best place to be if you really don't want to be knocked around at all is the shallow part way off to either sides, where the pool really pans outward.

Good tip! I will have to remember that! :goodvibes

DAY 3 – Pt. 2

After a fun morning at the water park, Miguel and I returned back to the Poly tired and hungry! We made it back to the resort right around lunchtime, so I headed down to Captain Cooks to grab us something to eat. After seeing my Aloha pork sandwich from the my CC lunch earlier in the week, Miguel chose that as his lunch. I decided to go with the cheeseburger.

Miguel enjoyed his sandwich, and my burger was just ok. I had two CS burgers throughout the week, and they both tasted like reheated meat which I can’t stand. It was a little disappointing!

After lunch, I took a quick shower and then we decided to partake in our afternoon activity of choice: napping! We learned that the water parks really wear you out! Miguel was of course, out in a flash, but I was having a much harder time falling asleep. I quickly realized that my problem was the lovely souvenir that I brought back from TL…a sunburn. A BAD sunburn.

Even though I had applied plenty of sunscreen that morning, I had not been good about reapplying it, especially after coming in and out of the water. I have super sensitive, fair skin, so I was pretty toasted to say the least! Pretty much my whole body had gotten burned, but the worse part, by far, was the tops of my feet and legs. I blame it on the lazy river, and I should have known better. The worst sunburn I’ve ever had was from a family trip to Cancun when I was younger. We floated down a real lazy river for 2 hours and it was like the inner-tube reflected the sun right on to my body. I was miserable and my skin bled for days! Thankfully this wasn’t quite that bad, but it was the same type of situation and I was so mad at myself! I don’t handle pain well, and I was so worried that I would be miserable the rest of trip.

I tried my best to get some rest, but it just wasn’t happening. I finally got up and went over to the GCH to try and find some aloe. Luckily, the gift shop had a bottle and I quickly hurried back to the room to put some on. Sadly, it did nothing. By this point my skin was both burning and itching like crazy and I just generally felt bad. I wasn’t at all looking forward to our dinner at Narcoosees, which I was sad about because I had so been looking forward to our first signature meal!

Eventually, I did manage to get some makeup on and get dressed very slowly so that we could head over to the Grand Floridian. You can see here that Miguel got a bit of sun as well! If only I tanned instead of burning!

We of course took the monorail over to the GF – I love how easy it is to get over there from the Poly!

** Please excuse how terrible I looked that night! My face was so sore that it was hard to put much makeup on! LOL**

In no time, we had made it to our destination.

We of course had to spend some time admiring the lobby. Miguel took some pictures while I went over to the concierge desk to get directions to Narcoosees.

The walk over to the restaurant was really nice! We had been to the GF before, but we had never taken the time to explore the grounds.

It’s so pretty and picturesque!

Narcoosee’s was really easy to find, and it didn’t take long at all – even though I was walking so slow because my sandals were rubbing my burned feet! I was such a mess that night. LOL

We checked in and were handed a buzzer and told that we could wait out on the balcony if we wanted, which is exactly what we did. It was so beautiful out there!

We didn’t have too much time to enjoy the scenery though, because our buzzer went off almost immediately. We were led to our table and given our personalized set of menus. Such a nice touch!

Our waitress at Narcoosee’s was great. She was so nice and started off our meal with two glasses of champagne – from Mickey of course!

While we decided on our entrees, we munched on the bread. It was very tasty!

Since I had a particular dessert in mind, we decided to bypass the appetizers and move straight on to our entrees. I decided to go with the crab dusted flounder and Miguel got the steak, which I don’t think was the fillet, but that’s the only thing showing up on the menu right now. Sadly, I did not take a single picture of our food! It was a combination of the tables being really close together and me being slightly embarrassed and the fact that I felt bad and really didn’t care about taking food pictures. Thankfully this was the only time that I didn’t take pictures of our meals, though! Instead, here's some pictures of us!

My flounder dish was ok, nothing spectacular. It was served with a meyer lemon sauce that was really strong. I love lemon flavored things, but this was just too lemony for me! Miguel said his steak was really good.

For dessert, I had to go with the almond crusted cheesecake. It was very good, but so rich! I only ended up eating a few bites, but I would recommend it, especially if you like almond flavored things.

Since I was feeling so bad, we didn’t stay around at Narcoosees too long. We quickly paid our bill and made our way back to the lobby of the GF. A jazz band was playing, so we lounged on the comfy couches for awhile to enjoy the music.

Finally, we headed back up to the monorail platform and made our way back to the Poly. It was fun to get to make the whole circle on the monorail. When we got back to the resort, I took some Motrin and got into bed. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to sleep because of the sunburn, but thankfully I feel asleep quickly!

Up Next: Will I feel better when I wake up the next day?

I love your pictures of the GF. That is where we stay when we go to Disney. The grounds are beautiful. I can't wait to go back now after looking at your pictures. Glad you enjoyed your time there. It is so relaxing there also.

The GF is so beautiful! I definitely felt the relaxing vibe. I would love to stay there someday! :goodvibes

Oh no, sunburn. I'm always so paranoid at water parks and I apply, apply, apply. I got the worst sunburn at a water park in Wisconsin Dells when I was about 19. My skin turned purple and blistered all over. I know exactly what you mean about having fair skin.

I have never eaten at Narcoosees. I love the look and the location of the restaurant.

I am fair skinned, like you and burn to a crisp with very little sun exposure. I have found that Noxema (the white cream) takes the sting out. It goes on thick and feels so nice (as it is really cold) and then I leave it on for a few minutes then get in a cool shower. Helps SO much with the burning. (i have also heard tha vinegar helps, but it is stinky!). My DH is Armenian and much like Miguel, never burns, he only gets darker. Thankfully our kids got his skin tone (not as dark but nice all the same!).

Your pictures reminded me that I am pretty sure we ate in the GF when I was 17..my uncle worked for WDW and we went to dinner....then the gift shop all for 40% off!!!! My dad paid the bill, but it was nice to get most of the souvies we wanted.....too bad he doesn't work there anymore. WDW paid for him to go back for his MBA (he was a manager at the CR, then while in school he stepped down and was a waiter at WCC, less hours and decent money). He got it and later parted ways with the mouse....With 3 kids of my own I could really use that discount now! LOL!

Oh no!!! Sunburn is the worst!!!! I have to say though I don't think you look bad in those pictures at all!

I love all of your GF pictures- it is such a beautiful resort.

OMG how awful about the sunburn :sad1: My DH has skin that looks very similar to yours, he NEVER tans, only burns and/or gets more freckled  We are also planning on going to the water parks during our vacation because he's never been (when he went to Disney before) and that is right up his alley, he's really excited about it. I just bought 4 tubes of 50 spf sunscreen yesterday for this trip because I'm worried about him burning too.

I also just booked a reservation to that French restaurant you guys liked, I'm so easily influenced lol.

Since I've never been to Disney is a huge hassle to just go to Epcot to eat and then leave for MK?

Sorry about the sunburn! I burn pretty easily also (as does my husband, who is a redhead), so I know how easy it is to get caught up in the fun at Disney and wind up completely burned. But don't worry about how you look in the photos! You do have a bit of a rosy glow on your cheeks, but you are also absolutely adorable, it overrides the sunburn. :goodvibes

Girl, I know your pain! It is impossible for me to tan-- always just burn! Glad your dinner was nice, though! The GF is such a romantic hotel!

UGH! I Hate sunburns! I get them quite badly too, so I know how painful it can be...and I always feel like kicking myself afterward, because it's generally my fault for not applying sunscreen (or not reapplying later in the day)!

However, I have to say, you did not look terrible for your dinner date at Narcoosees! In fact, you looked really pretty! The white dress and creamy pink cardigan really suit your complexion and hair color.

I know how that goes with sunburns...I am either pale or burnt :rotfl: I am hoping it got better quick!!

That is very cool how they have the personalized menu for your honeymoon!!

I'm so sorry about your sunburn! Unfortunately, I know all too well just how you felt. You looked just like me when I get too much sun--all your freckles really stand out!!

Dinner sounded lovely...I just hate that you didn't enjoy it as much as you could have if you had felt better!

I'm glad that you didn't have a problem going to sleep. I hope that the burn got better for the rest of the trip!

Catching up—

I had never been to a water park (not much of a swimmer) before our last trip. We went to Typhoon Lagoon, and I loved it! It is so peaceful there. I will admit though, I hated the wave pool. I let DF stay out in it and I sat on a ledge at the far back side of it, and even there, the water came at me like crazy! But on a plus, we loved the donuts too :thumbsup2

Oh no! That stinks about your sunburn. They are never fun. Like you, I have pretty fair skin and always have to be SO careful. I never tan! At least it wasn’t as bad as your one when you were younger. That sounds incredibly painful!

The GF does look beautiful at night. We are trying to decide between trying that for the honeymoon, or stick with the Poly, which we absolutely love. Decisions, decisions!

I really hope you felt better the next day. I know from experience what a miserable feeling it is! Can’t wait to read the next one:goodvibes

yay you got a picture of my room at the GF! :cutie: (that block of four balconies.. our's was the lower right one :cloud9:)

Sounds like a lovely day at Typhoon Lagoon, it's so nice to discover a 'new' part of WDW isn't it.. a few trips ago, DH played golf at some of the courses, and although I don't play golf I was a little jealous that he'd got to see some areas of WDW that I'd never been! :rolleyes1

So sorry to hear about the sunburn... I've had some awful burns when we've been on vacation in the caribbean, so much so that I actually went for a few short sunbed sessions before honeymoon because I was sure I'd burn again! :upsidedow
Hope it calms down by the next day :goodvibes

Narcoosees looked lovely - it was the one GF restaurant we didn't go to, but think we will next trip.. revisit our honeymoon resort!

Hope you have a lovely weekend,

Emma princess: x

Aw I feel so bad about your sunburn!! Those are the worst and they make you so miserable. I hate sunburns!!!

Ouch about the Cancun sunburn!!!! That sounds soo painful.

I just found your trip report and I am loving it!! Congrats on your marriage and on your Disneymoon!! Sunburns are the worst. My husband and I got married almost 2 years ago and for our honeymoom we went on a Disney Cruise. I got the worst sunburn on Castaway Cay. But we have to make the best of it because we are in DISNEY!! Can't wait to hear more.:)
