So we leave Feb...price is still $2500 for 4 from Ottawa. eeeks! (and no there is no option to drive to the states and fly from there. )

So ....anyone get a better price last year? When did your 'sale' price come out?

right now the flights are 249 and 269 each way. :scared1: PLUS tax!

at this point if it even goes down $10 each way I will probably jump on it. lol

Transat Holidays: $2337 total, including tax, for 4, direct flight.

That was the first one I checked, so better deals are out there than what you've found so far. Even the transat flight seems a little high, so better deals are likely out there, or prices could come down some.

I usually find the closer you get to your departure date the higher the prices go, but you're still in a good window of time for them to dip before they rise. Get on some price comparison websites like expedia and then from there check the airlines actual website (sometimes cheaper than what expedia will offer). You can also check with a travel agent, it might be worth the booking fee for them to do the legwork on this one for you. Good luck!

unfortunately they don't fly out on Feb 2nd. only on Feb 3rd, so they weren't an option for us. But thank you!

I flew from Halifax to Orlando last year Feb 1 to 10 and paid around $1300 for 3 and it was a direct flight on the way home. I bought the tickets in the middle of October. You should be able to get a much better price in the next few months.

We usually fly AC out of Toronto, and we've been watching February prices for months. They've been sitting at $250 (before taxes) with no fluctuation. I think we'll start to see discounts for 2012 when we get into fall. Make sure you check prices daily, set up an email alert, and follow @ACwebsaver on Twitter as they post time-limited coupon codes there. Between a price drop and a coupon code we got out Oct. flights for $100pp each way (before taxes).

thanks for the advice. I am panicking as the flights have now gone UP for the days that we need to 279 westjet (still 249 return) and 269 air canada with 269 return.

eeeeks! I guess the time has come to have Twitter....

That is why we can't travel anywhere unless we use Airmiles! Flying our family of 5 from SK is close to the $4500 mark.....with airmiles we are just paying our taxes of $840......sigh, wish WDW was closer!!

I know what you mean, I have been looking and yikes!

Have you looked at Sunwing, they don't fly everyday but maybe something will fit....

Not sure what you mean by this. There's been a couple discussions here in the last couple days about driving to either Syracuse or Plattsburgh for cheaper flights. Heck - I've even seen cheaper flights leaving from the tiny airport in Ogdensburg that'll get you to MCO with a couple connections.

Quick search on your date finds:
Syracuse -> MCO - $1150US for 4 people (JetBlue)
Plattsburgh -> Orlando Sanford - $1020 for 4 people (Allegiant)
Plattsburgh -> Lakeland - $970 for 4 people (Direct Air)

So is a 3 hour drive worth $1200 to you?

Have you looked at flights on US carriers??? I just did a quick search leaving Ottawa on Feb 2, returning Feb 9 and the price on Delta for 4 (2 adults, 2 children) was $1,961.84 CAD :confused3

that is a significant price difference..... it may just be worth it to 'branch out'. lol. thank you!:goodvibes

I would keep waiting, the prices may go down in another month or two.

Last year we flew from Montreal (end of January) and the tickets were 75$ each way (was about 270$ return with tax). We bought our tickets in Novemeber, although they had many sales before and after that. (Never saw lower than 75$, mostly it was between 85-100$)

Comparing it to this year, the prices are about triple that (about 250$ one way, similar to the Ottawa fares). So definitely keep checking. Is flying out of Montreal an option? Would allow you more options in terms of pricing...

Good Luck!

It would probably be a heck of a lot cheaper to fly out of Buffalo, and just drive down there and park your car. A six hour drive, flights are $129 each way, free bags, plus about $50 to park for the week.

Edited to add: last year we paid $90 each way in February. I just mean they are $129 right now, but with Southwest, you can always change your flight.

Yeah, unfortunately, flexibility for travel is usually pretty key for getting the best prices for flights. Most airlines, if not all, have swings in rates per the day of the week.

Keep looking though, you never know.

just going to keep checking...and waiting and hoping. I just don't want to wait too long...eeek. LOL!

Delta may be a good option as someone previously posted!

I know so many people are all gung ho about travelling to the states, but it just isn't an option for us for a variety of reasons.

a) two adults in our party will be working late on the 1st. One for sure until 9p and my s/o will be until anywhere between 8-10pm. Plus he starts at 730am, so that is too long of a day/night for it to be enjoyable.

b) if there is a snowstorm, which is more than possible, that makes scenario a) even more impossible

c) we won't all fit in 1 car. we would have to take 2. plus two rooms , etc etc

d) of the 4 adults, I am the only one who would consider this an option. I am out numbered. LOL

e) other reasons that the other members have mentioned

so this is really not an option hence why i am wondering when the fares from for example Ottawa...were on sale last year.

I am just hoping we aren't already too late to get anything decent in price.

Are you using Kayak.com to check flights? IMO it is the easiest way to check multiple carriers. You can also set a daily price watch.
