A Hop, NO Skip, and Many Mishaps to a Disney Dream!

I couldn't beleive how forgetful I was that trip. I blame it on my Dad. He got on my nerves at times and I felt pressured to hurry along. And sadly this isn't the last thing I lose either....but I do recover everything BUT the lost SD card.

I'm waiting for the story of you losing your mind. It's Disney, it had to have happened.:lmao:

Yay, you are back! :thumbsup2 I'm glad that you had a fun trip and I can't wait to hear all about it! I love your dolphins pics from the last update - They are so cute!

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Glad to see you're back and had a great time on your trip!

Your dolphin pics are amazing--even the point and shoot ones! I showed DH some of your pics so I can see if DH wants an SLR for Christmas!

Reading with bated breath to find out about all the lost articles and how they are found...

Thanks. I am so used to the slr now that it's hard for me to go back to point and shoot at times.

It might've happened! :rolleyes1 I'm just not telling! ;)

Jen, the dolphin and flamingo pictures are absolutely stunning. :thumbsup2

Thanks, I was happy with most of them too.

Oh, that is so frustrating. I hate leaving something behind on accident. I have done it every time I don't do that "just one more time" pass over on the room. Funny though.. when I do go over to double check there is nothing there. Go figure...

woohoo update! Love the dolphin pics!

You were on the opposite side of the park! And the shamu stadium is kind of off by itself. You can either go the long way around or cut over the bridge.

I always have flashbacks to the jaws 3(?) the one when all the people were stuck in the underwater tunnel with the shark all around! LOL :rotfl:

Yes, if I did a once over, I would've had it packed already. LOL

I never did that tunnel either and I actually wanted to because of the Jaws (3D) movie. LOL! I missed a LOT at that park, so going again , we will be able to see completely different things. Claire keeps talking about going back, so I guess we'll have to when we get down there again.

Hehehe...glad to hear I am not the only one who thinks of the Jaws 3D movie when going in that tunnel!

Great SeaWorld pictures!!!!

What settings do you use when taking pictures of animals in the water on your DSLR?

Also, not related, but what do you use for Fireworks? I've been researching videos on YouTube but your pictures are always so amazing, I figured I'd just ask you! :thumbsup2

What do you think about the SeaWorld in Ohio vs. Florida? Just curious!

That was my only look at Sea World Florida until I actually went. LOL!

I shoot in manual most of the time.
I have to say I liked Ohio better, but that is what I grew up with, and I didn't get to see much of the park in Florida. I do beleive it's a bigger park, so once I can explore more and get used to the area, I may change my mind.

Fireworks I'm still learning. Janet gave me some good info and I blew it still this trip

The big news before we set sail on the Dream was that the whale that had killed a trainer had finally been let back into the show. I was a little leery on this. I don’t see why it had to be let back in. I thought I had originally heard that this whale wasn’t in many of the shows to begin with and I didn’t get all the hype about this. I personally think the whale should’ve not been let back in the show…I don’t think it should be put down, or anything like that, but they have had trouble with this whale in the past, which to me means he is just meant to interact with humans.

The show started and right away I can tell you I was not super impressed. Again I am used to Sea World Ohio when they used to get in the tank and the show was fabulous. I wasn’t a fan of the storyline, and I had read many others didn’t care for it either, but that wasn’t to matter much longer, because I think a few weeks after they premiered their new show.
The whales are impressive beast though. There was also a baby (though he wasn’t very baby looking. LOL) and he was so cute, sticking next to his momma. I took some very short video clips and pulled out the SLR and used some of the last of the battery left.

More video…and remember, I am NOT very good with video; I usually make myself motion sick when I watch it. LOL!

There’s the baby!

I think this is the baby as well…isn’t she tiny. LOL! She was born in Oct, so that would make her about almost 6 months at the time.

I have done some research on some of the whales since our trip. I am amazed at how many are still “wild”, meaning they were actually captured years ago, many from Iceland area. The Mom of the baby was one of the captures and I think she is 34 years old. I think she has had 7 calves. The father of that baby is the one who killed the trainer, I think his name is Tillikum, and he was also captured and it sounds like at times he was given only a small pen to stay in (not with Sea World, but another park). I believe he has fathered something like 10 calves. Sea World FL also had one that could only interact with Tillikum as she was very aggressive (and I believe she was born in captivity). She has attacked other whales and even her own calves. It was kind of funny, but they say she is now on birth control so she can’t have any more since she has tried to injure all her children. She has since then gotten pregnant one more time and died last summer with a stillborn birth complications.

Tillikum is the biggest whale in the entire world in captivity. I believe he is 12000 pounds. (pictures of him later)

very interesting information on the whales! I too wonder about how they could put Tilliculm back into the show.

Looks like an awesome use of some of that precious battery power! Was that your long lens? They are great photos.

There really isn't anything better than sitting there photographing a beautiful show like that, is there????

Love your whale pics! We went to Sea World last year and we enjoyed it.
We went just about a month after the trainer was killed, and the show was actually pretty sad. You could just feel the sad emotion among the people. And I just felt so sorry for the whales since they were used to the trainers interacting in the water with them. I pictured them thinking "Why won't you come in & play with us?" So sad. :sad1:

If they wouldn't let Tillikum back into the show, I think they should move him to a bigger facility (if one exists) and not keep him cooped up in that tiny area.

It's so funny about that bird (is that a pelican?) that you have a pic of. There was one hanging out there when we went (I think I have a pic, too), and I thought he was gonna end up being supper!!!
