Happy to report we are finally "home" for the first time and staying at BLT for part of our trip. We stayed at BCV for first 3 nights with family to conserve points but now that I'm here I cannot imagine staying anywhere else! IT IS GORGEOUS! I do notice a few MINOR wear and tear items but it cannot overtake the the great room we are in ( a one bedroom). We got upgraded to a lake view, when I booked a standard view with points! I'm assuming something happened or there were issues with my standard view (not that I'm complaining at ALL). The view is gorgeous, we are right in the center over the pool looking down on it, on the 9th floor. This room is much bigger than BCV and we loveeeee it :goodvibes

Been there in a 1BR w/ Standard View for 5 nights. I know how you feel! It is truly a great resort and having the monorail access is superb! I *can* imagine staying at some of the other resorts, but only to save on points or getting that AKV savanna view when I don't plan on doing much park touring (yeah right).

Hope you enjoy your stay!!!

Congratulations--and, just be sure to check your points. I have read about people being upgraded in view and then getting home and finding they were charged for those points. It was eventually straightened out.

I love BLT and also can't imagine ever going on a trip and not staying there. We just got back from a BWV/BLT split stay and wont' ever do summer without it that way!

Have fun!!!

We just returned from our stay at BLT (last weekend). We also had a 1 bedroom standard view. Ground floor facing the marina. OP are you sure you got an upgrade? What floor? We had a 1 bedroom last spring, standard view, and had the LV. We were on the second floor above the community center. So there are LV rooms at the standard category. I agree with the PP, check your points when you get home. During our stay last week, we had a few issues, one was not being able to find the remote, but we called and got one. The dishwasher was a little screwy too--I did a load, but the soap disp. didn't open, so I had to do them again.

We just got back from BLT. We used points for a Lake View reservation and we got a 4th room floor looking at Bamboo Sticks. We were pretty disappointed. I checked online and sure enough, currently, these rooms on the 4th floor are considered Lake View. The difference between Standard and Lake View are around 2 points are so while the difference between MK and Lake View is more like 10 points. I believe there should be a larger/clearer differentiation between Standard and Lake view rooms and points.

I just wrote MS suggesting that the 4th floor should be Standard View and a point reallocation should be considered. Standard View points could go down 1 more while Lake View points could go up 1 point or so to accommodate this change.

Tough to consider that there are 16th floor lake view rooms that are considered in the same category as 4th floor rooms.

We complained the next morning after check in and lucked out and got a room on the 7th floor which we were content with but we were pretty bummed out on our 1st night.

Making Lake View ressies at the 11 month mark to get a 4th floor room seeing just Bamboo Sticks is not cool.

Glad you got the 9th floor. I would check your points though, you may have been charged for a Lake View.

So glad you are loving your first trip home! :thumbsup2 We also own at BLT and stayed there for the first time in June. It was amazing and we simply loved it! We were so thrilled that we purchased there, it is a perfect fit for our family!

Enjoy!!! :goodvibes

Glad you're having such a great time and congratulations on your up-grade!
We have stayed at BLT twice (mk and lake view) and love it.......but have never stayed at BCV. Would love to know how you compare the two, pros and cons and any photos are always appreciated!!

So happy for you!! We have stayed there on cash reservations and absolutely loved it that we bought to ensure we can always stay there!!

We will be making our first trip home as owners in December and I am so excited!!

Enjoy your time!!

We stayed at BLT in May and loved it! BLT is our home resort, and I couldn't think of a better one. It was so relaxing, and we loved the contemporary decor. I got some beautiful pictures of the Magic Kingdom from our balcony. We are staying at BCV for the first time in Sept. Have fun and enjoy BLT!

We love BLT too! So glad to hear you are having a great time. Enjoy your stay....save me a place, we will be there soon!!!

Great view and by the way "Welcome Home":cool1: We were very near your room last December and I also appreciated the spectacular view. Yuenglings on the balcony were a must. Have fun!

So glad you like it. We have only stayed in studios at BLT but next may we are bringing my brother and his family with us and have a 2 bd standard view booked. Can't wait. Please post pics if you get a chance, I miss that place : (

Yeah, they specifically stated at the front desk "Oh it looks like they upgraded you to a lake view". I will definitley check my points when I get home, thanks for the heads up!

The CONS of BCV in comparison to BLT is that BCV rooms IMO are not nearly as nice and the set up is different and the "old style". Everyone shares one bathroom where the big glass shower is in same area as toilet, so if someone is in the shower, no one can use the bathroom unless it's someone you don't mind seeing you naked! With my extended family there, this was a bit of an issue. When it's just me and my family, not such a big deal. BCV 1BR is not nearly as big at my BLT 1BR. I know nothing about measurements but it definitley does not have as much useable space. BCV also has villas that are a bit of a hike from the sandy bottom pool at Stormalong Bay, as compared to BLT where you take the elevator down and you are at the pool (with small children this is key for me)

The PROS to BCV is the walking distance to Epcot, the Boardwalk, and DHS. This is very convienent, as well as access to numerous restaurants in walking distance. Pool is much bigger at BCV than BLT

Had a chance spring break 2010 to stay at BLT but passed on it in favor of VWL. Not sure we would like the starkness of the contemporary decor. We had never stayed at VWL either and it was a complete toss up. We loved our VWL stay in a 1 bedroom. Could see EWP from our room and enjoyed the boat ride to MK.

Maybe in the future we will give BLT a try. Next spring break we will be going back "home" to BCV. Love it there, too! Honestly, would probably love all the DVC resorts for different reasons.

Enjoy your stay!:wizard:

I love BLT also! We have stayed in 2 bedroom units. I was originally going to do a split stay in Feb 5 nights THV 5 nights BLT but my parents were able to get a 1 bedroom at SSR with their RCI points so we decided to stay the full 10 nights at THV. I am excited about staying in the THV but I am bumming that I will not be at BLT!!! Upside I am going to bank all BLT points so next year we maybe able to go in the fall 2012 and winter of 2013!

Just posted some pics in post #1 :goodvibes

Thanks for posting the pics. I posted earlier that we stayed at BLT for the first time in June and loved it as well. However I noticed as I was looking at your pictures that your room had an actual "laundry room". Ours had a laundry "closet". We opened a door and there was a stacking washer/dryer and a broom, that was it. We did have an actual closet around the corner from the laundry but it was just regular closet size, nothing big. It probably depends on where in the "curve" the unit is as to whether there is a untility room vs. a utility closet. I prefer the room, but since I didn't know any better and it was the same at VGC (our only other DVC stay) I never thought twice about it. Thanks for letting me know. :)
