Hey all, just back from a trip to SSR. This is a quick report, just want to post our thoughts.

We arrived at SSR around 11am, and had requested Springs. Room was not ready, which was surprising for us, every past trip we were right in. No biggie, we went to DTD. Our room was ready around 4, text system worked great for us. We had a dedicated 2br, room 4310, in the springs, close to bus, Artist Pallette and new Paddock Pool area. We were told room was not ready early because it had to be cleaned. First thing we found was old peperroni's and sauce in the utensil drawer. Ok, no biggie, we cleaned it. One thing I will say, if you are not used to humidity, and do not do well in humidity, DONT GO IN AUGUST. It was toture. 80 by 10am, with 100% humidity and 80% dew points. We had a couple days of nausea and hard time breathing. ANyways, the highs of the trip were Star Tours, PrimeTime Diner. Star Tours is amazing, we did it about 6 times. Amazing. Prime Time food was great! Its a MUST DO and we will do everytime now.

Around our 3rd day, I called and complained to the Mgr about housekeeping. We couldnt check in due to cleaning, but, we ended up finding used band aids under the bed, a used flip flop, a childs book with stuff on it, and vomit on the side of the toilet. We had to wait to check in because of cleaning and the room was horrible. Have not heard back, but, hopefully calling helps someone else staying there. Busses were great! They had monitors at bus stops who were watching wait times, and no trips were past 15 minutes. We bought a ton of vinylmations see them here http://www.d-cot.com/photos?func=viewalbum&aid=832

All in all a great trip, but, my advice, if you do not like humidity or oppresive dew points, DONT GO IN AUGUST. Oh, and it rains, every day, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for an hour or two.

Any questions just ask.

The new paddock pool area is pretty awesome. I was told the water slide is the largest and fastest of all the resorts. Very fun!

Glad you had a good time, despite the heat. We don't do well in heat at all, so we usually go during "shoulder" seasons and in December.

We went this past May, and also last October. On both visits, they had "record-breaking heat!" So you just never know. We're back this October, hoping for it to be unseasonably cool.

Oh well, it's Florida after all, so we grin and bear it. Still the Happiest Place on Earth.

Oh, and I can't wait to see the new Star Tours!

Calling the Front Desk usually gets you to a call center where the agents play the part of the person that you are calling. There job is to intercept all calls and to keep you from taking up the CM's valuable time. Your report probably went no where. You should always talk face to face when reporting issues. You also need to contact the DVC Member Satisfaction Team. dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com

Glad there were good times despite the heat and humidity. Yes, I know those days of nausea. Our last August trip, I just about passed out while watching Indiana Jones. We too thought going in May would be better :lmao: record breaking heat:lmao:. BUT we were at WDW.

We agree. We were there Aug. 12-19 and it will be our last August trip. Between the heat and humidity and the crankiness of our grandkids along with most CMs and other guest, we are done with August. We too had some housekeeping issues, but at BLT. I just finished sending an email to the satisfaction team. While nothing major, just so many little things it annoyed me, but the bird poop all over the patio and the patio furniture was a bit much. I know some of my crankiness had to do with staying a Portofinio Bay Resort @ US/IOA first and then coming to BLT. It was such a huge difference that it was actually a let down after getting my BLT room. We visit in early May, late October and late January regularly, and sometimes add August, but this was it for us. We've already discussing other choices for a summer vacation next year, but not WDW. We tried to make the best of it for the sake of the grandkids, but we were all happy to go home from this trip. Of course, we'll be back in 7 weeks for our 2 week October trip to BWV! Hopefully cooler temps and a little more relaxation that trip.

between the wait and the dirtiness, did you speak to a manager. They will usually credit you a meal or something if it was that bad. And as a tax paying owner, it should be perfect.

Glad to hear people like the paddock area so much, very excited about that option!!

I'm confused, why did you speak to a manager, when you could speak to housekeeping directly? it is an option right there on every phone in the room. If you explained the room situation to them, they would have sent someone down to do another cleaning. Very confused as to the people you directed this problem to.

IMO, depending on the severity of the problem, contacting the people who didn't do the job correctly the first time doesn't make sense. They had their chance and they blew it, plus I doubt that much will be done to keep it from happening again in the future. I want to contact someone above or in a different work group who will take some responsibility.

I also contact the DVC Satisfaction Team and file a report. They are our hired agent who is the interface between the Members and Parks and Resorts.

In this particular case, I still would have called housekeeping. After all, isn't the goal to be staying in a clean room immediately? Talking to the manager or MS comes later if you want to take that step to assure it doesn't happen to another guest. But in the mean time, I'd want a clean room and the only way to get that is a call to housekeeping.

I agree and disagree, I suppose that I have a learned behavior. All I expect is a clean room, stocked, and in good working order.

Sadly 2 of our 3 trips a year on average has room problems. When the Front Desk tells me that the room is clean and ready and it isn't, they need to know. Calls to Mousekeeping gets us mixed results, talking to a Front Desk Manager in person, always gets immediate results. The resorts actually have a English speaking team who's job is to fix the problems left behind by the Mousekeepers. They also have a special Manager who has the job of dealing with these issues, his job title is Front Of Stage or Front Of House, something, something. The Managers have told us on more than one occasion that they want to know if things aren't right, the issues are noted and discussed in staff meetings.

I did call housekeeping directly. I hit the button on the phone, and got a lady. When I asked to speak to a manager about a room problem, she replied "why." I then said, I would rather speak to a manager, and again, why. I said Manager please, and then was sent to a guy who identified himself as the SSR Manager on duty, and explained everything to him. And, seeing as we didnt discover the vomit and dirtiness under the bed till our 2nd to last day, it didnt make sense to have to leave the room for however amount of time for them to clean it. We cleaned the drawer ourselves.

I did email DVC Satisfaction. And, I will say this, as I forgot to mention it, I DID call houskeeping once, after we received our fresh towel/sheets basket. We had no shampoo. I called Housekeeping and was told, since I was a member, if I wanted one, it would be $5. I explained I did not have one in my basket, and was told $5 for a replacement. So, calling them pretty much, I feel, would have been useless. I made the Mgr aware of the problems, and then followed up with email. I even told them after the sauce I did not call because I did not want to make a big deal about it. The puke, bandaids and flip flops cause me to call.

I know this sounds weird but I didn't know there was a new slide? When did they put it in? Is it bigger than BCV pirate slide?

I bought a very small add on contract at SSR because it was cheap with low MF so I am now actually excited to know there is something there that we would like.

I start with the housekeeping manager on duty, then let the guest service manager know if it was taken care of or not.

If not, I also contact Member Satisfacation.

I expect my DVC villa to be as clean and as well maintained as any Disney resort.

When it is not, I contact the appropriate people and I do it in person while at the resort and email to MS.

I don't want or accept compensation, I just want a clean room where everything works.

Normal wear and tear are fine, doors falling off, missing remotes, etc are not.

They renovated the Paddock pool area to a bigger pool with zero entry, a corkscrew slide that looks like a silo (horse theme, of course) and a smaller slide for the kids. They also added a QS eating area and pool bar

I think the new larger slide is really about the same slide as the OKW sand castle slide, but a different theme.. I don't think it makes SSR a top pool destination, but would certainly be a huge help in making SSR nice enough that you would think twice before pool hopping to another resort from SSR.

Is all new, and I have not done the BCV Pirate, but, the lifeguards said this new one was the biggest and fastest on property for resorts.
